Facebook for Tricia Licata Soto, her family has this linked with her missing bulletin

This article answers one of my questions actually. I wondered how, with such a lengthy record, he could possibly pass a background check to get a job like this. I now see that it was through HopeSource. They help people get back on their feet. He had a chance to change his life and missed it IMO.

I am one who definitely supports organizations like HopeSource that aim to help people with records get on their feet, but man, thinking about someone like that being free and being a bus driver exposed to countless people makes me nauseous.

To me he looks like he has lost quite a bit of weight. Drugs?? Or what else has been going on?

It could be he was sober and healthy at the time of the bus driver job and photo, but is back on drugs (and committing thefts to afford the drugs) now. Drug use can cause weight loss and a decline in health. MOO

Updates from todays hearing, gitchel still a no show.

Lots of detailed info in this article, WSB throwing down some great reporting. Arraignment scheduled for April 24th.

- Gitchel caught on camera outside Leticia's house around midnight the night her son was abducted and assaulted (resulting in a charge of attempted murder in the 1st)

- Gitchel caught on camera at a gas station hours before her car was found in flames, throwing his jacket into a trash can and purchasing a gas can and lighter. Also filling the gas can and driving away.

Wow, he is not very bright. If he is also responsible for the other woman whose car was found engulfed in flames (Diana Davis from Tacoma, was it?), it's hard to believe he wasn't caught previously. Has anyone compared the location of the two cars that were found? Granted, Diana went missing more than two years ago.

Met her at a Seattle Costco, stole from that same Costco, apprehended at a Shoreline Costco. He is obsessed with Costco.

A Washington man accused of stealing thousands of dollars in jewelry from a Costco store before meeting a woman there who vanished is now charged with trying to kill her son and torching her car in an attempt to hide evidence, court documents show.

Leticia Martinez-Cosman was last seen March 31 at T-Mobile Park with Brett Gitchel, whose past includes numerous car thefts and other property crimes and a pair of domestic assaults.

The Seattle Mariners and stadium security provided video that police said shows the two at the game and leaving together, contradicting his claim that she left with “some guy” she ran into at the park, according to police.

“A day after Leticia was last seen alive with Brett Gitchel at the Mariners game, Brett Gitchel kidnapped her disabled son and attempted to strangle him to unconsciousness,” a court filing obtained by Fox News Digital alleges. “Two hours after the kidnapping and assault of her son, Leticia’s car was found burned from a fire started with accelerants in the passenger seat.”

Police said they recovered gas station surveillance video that recorded Gitchel buying a gas can and lighter 15 minutes before Martinez-Cosman’s car was found burning on the side of a road nearby.

And cell data allegedly shows him traveling to “a remote mountainous region” before police arrested him and found a handgun they allege is illegal.

[...]

Police will not confirm that it is Martinez' body, but say the remains were found in a wooded area between Talbot Rd. and State Route 167 in Renton. Homicide detectives were following leads that took them to that area Tuesday afternoon.

That is about one mile from where police found her son Patrick Cosman, who investigators say was taken by the man she went to the Seattle Mariners game with.

[...]

Surveillance footage indicates that Gitchel purchased the gas container and lighter around 6 a.m. the same day Martinez's car was found burned.

The Shell gas station he was seen in footage buying the gas canister is less than a mile away from where Martinez's car was found, according to Google Maps.

Prosecutor Chris Anderson also said in court on April 7 that Gitchel's phone had pinged where Martinez' car was burned.

“SPD Homicide Detectives followed leads obtained during the investigation which resulted in the recovery of a deceased subject in the Renton area Tuesday afternoon,” police said in a statement, KCBY reported.

“The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the identity of the deceased and the cause and manner of death,” they added.

Gitchel has not been charged in Martinez-Cosman’s disappearance and possible death, but he faces a slew of charges in connection with the ensuing abduction of her adult son.

Martinez-Cosman’s friend forwarded the selfie from the baseball game to police, along with various text messages, after she went missing, the news outlet reported, citing court documents.

The missing woman and the friend had first met Gitchel at a south Seattle Costco on March 19, KCBY reported.

What a strange guy he is. Was he trying to steal her home? Kidnap and kill the son and take over her residence, since he was recently evicted? Didn't I read that upthread?

I would put nothing past him. He is turning out all over the map when it comes to crimes.

Maybe he worked for Costco at one time?

I think he was trying to kill the son to delay her being reported missing.

That's probably where I got the idea! I'm not usually that creative with my theories. :D

SPD has now confirmed he was the man on security footage attempting to enter a home and stealing items from a shed on March 28, 2023. He also cut the internet to the cameras, and stole the cameras. You can see the video in this link, and he is wearing that same Mariner's jacket. Police have now filed a burglary charge against him for that.

This dude is a pure creeper. I wonder what he would have done if he was able to get into that house that night.

The full SPD police report on this incident can be read here:
