I thought it was unusual that he used a laptop for that speech. It was a short speech. Would you have taken your laptop to the podium? Just wondering.

I think that the "proud" thing was directed to KC and I feel it means they all share a secret --he's proud that KC hasn't divulged what it is.

I think so as well, and have for a long time. Well, she can be proud of herself for keeping "the secret" for which she might have sacrificed her own child... Hope she enjoys prison food while she is keeping that precious secret close to her heart, the way she should have kept Caylee.

Cindy's hand was on his back and shoulder all the way through a difficult speach. I think he wa not only coached, but encouraged to give it the way they (I think I mean SHE) thought had the most appeal.

IMHO, there should be a penalty for "silent" abusers. I just saw one, right there.

The CMA stuff wasn't his idea, as it's so obvious that he feels very uncomfortable deliveing the lines, even when his mother taps and pushes from his back.

How can anyone let her contiune to manipulate her grown-up children that way? Or anyone, for that matter? But maybe that's the problem: they're not allowed to be "grown-up".

Whatever made CA the way she is, she has certainly made sure and insisted that her children suffer alongside, and much more, if possible. Why punish them? Because she can. Yikes.

Lee answered that if he had his way it would have been completely private, maybe only a dozen people, max, they would record it and Baez could later show it to Casey on the computer. It was my mom, he went on to explain that organized it to be streamed live so that Casey could hear the entire thing contemporaneously as it was going on, that was very important to mom.

So, yes it seems he was admitting that many of the remarks of the family were geared toward Casey. At the time when Lee was giving his speech at the memorial, I pictured him sitting at his computer the night before and finally crying his heart out, letting it all out finally and it sounded to me like he was resigned to Casey's fate and was saying good bye to her too. He knew she would never get out of jail. It was over.
All hope for any other result was lost and indeed he felt broken. I don't have a problem with Lee's remarks. Imagine your sibling, that you played in the sandbox with, taught how to ride a bike, shared every Christmas and birthday and sports victory and defeat with, the one person you grew up with doing something like this ....imagine that person sending you on wild goose chases and lying to you. If you were Lee, you be wondering why couldn't she just have come to me and say let the baby sleep at your house tonight, I am so mad at mom I can't even see straight. Why didn't she just call on me, he has likely wondered. He says he talks to Caylee everday. He must feel like he let her down by not having that be clear to Casey that she could always come to him. I cannot even imagine. I got interested in this case because I have a niece that looks like Caylee. I wouldn't even be able to stand up if my sister had murdered her own child that I adore and who is the sunshine of my entire family. I wouldn't be able to give any public talk, it would kill me. He knew he was never going to go see her again and he indeed has been at no hearing to offer her support, that speaks volumes to me. I trust the lawyers implore him to come for appearances sake and we know mom tries to shame him in to it...still he stays away. He said goodbye to both Caylee and Casey at that podium. I was thinking that maybe he felt guilty for being detached lately from the family and wondered if he could have done something to prevent what happened. He seemed like he was saying to Casey all the things he wished he had said to her and reassured her long ago and steered her toward another path. This is common at funerals when there has been a suicide for example. Can you imagine being Lee, trying to hold the insanity going on in the Anthony home, dad trying to take his life, Cindy in utter denial...Lee trying to hold the pieces of the family together. When he said he was broken, I believed him. He has had his face shoved down pretty hard on the mat by his own sister. I say we let him up. I pray for his courage and love for Caylee that he will take the stand and tell the truth and keep his promise he made her.


I am in no way sticking up for Casey. I want her punished in the harshest terms available. I just don't think Lee had anything to do with what happened to Caylee, and he did the best he could at a funeral that was likely one of the worst experiences of his entire life.

I understand what you're saying, this is a memorial service, where people who feel grief may express it in different ways...

If he felt grief (and I don't doubt he did) for his niece, he could at least call her by her name. If he felt compassion for his sister, he could have spoken her name. If he felt love for his mother, her name should have been spoken as it is.

Instead, "CMA" substituting for all three .... conjures planning, and deliberate delivery. I don't think it was his idea, as I thought his body language said he just had to say what he was told and he couldn't wait to get out of there.

I think one CMA orchestrated all of it.

Your comments are very interesting. I think you'll find that there is anger, mixed up with love and a sense of responsability. That combnation is "standard", for any family.

But not any family ends up losing a child - there's the rub.

I have no doubt that something happened that night which caused the neighbours to remember it.

I have no doubt that all the A's loved Caylee,

I have no doubt that in a moment of anger and frustration, Casey might have said things she probably didn'y mean. Or maybe she did - I don't know.

All I know is that after that argument, Caylee "disappeared" and was found decomposing close to her parents' home.

If anyone cares to dismiss that as coincidence (reviewing facts/forensics), please do. Just tell me why.

A sister whose child is missing unreported for 31 days...
A sister who was dancing on stripper poles and cooking for the boys while her daughter was missing...

A sister whose primary concern once she was arrested was to talk to her boyfriend...never ONCE inquiring about CAYLEE...
A sister whose remark when death banded hair was discovered in her car from her, her mother or her daughter was well I am alive...
A sister who has wasted literally millions of dollars over the past almost 2 years while she has lied, connived and deceived everyone coming and going...

He's not really proud of his sister in general, that is demonstrated in their conversations and LA's LE interviews....Bizarre. The kindest thing he has said about KC is that he believes everything she has told him. That really has nothing to do with pride.

If he was talking to his mom, why kiss the bracelet?

Why would he be proud of Caylee in all of this? Of course he loved his niece and was proud of her in life, but what role has Caylee played in death that LA would be "proud" of?

Perhaps JB told the A's that KC is holding up in jail, that she is behaving well and is focusing on her case. I guess that is sorta something to be behind her on, especially in LA's eyes-LA seems very determined that KC go through this legal battle in a manner that utilizes all of her legal rights as a person presumed innocent. He has been quite focused in helping her preserve that, telling CA not to open the door for LE without a subpoena/warrant, etc, insisting that KC not speak openly over the jail monitors.

LA could possibly be proud that KC is taking his advice, JB's advice, and protecting herself by taking the right legal steps and staying quiet.
If your relative is innocent, then yes, it is a good thing for them to calm down and take the appropriate steps to get out of the situation-But KC murdered Caylee, so in spite of all LA's intentions for her legal well-being, KC staying this course will turn out badly for her anyway.

I think Lee has his own mind and knows exactly who killed Caylee but for the sake of his mother, who he really does love, he keeps his thoughts to himself.

I don't know why he kept saying CMA over and over but I sincerely believe he meant Caylee. His voice kept breaking and I got the impression that he couldn't bring himself to say Caylee's name out loud or he would have totally broken. It was Caylee's ashes in the bracelet that he kissed and I think the kiss was meant for his little Caylee.

I believe it is possible to be proud of a two year old. He might have been proud of how smart she was and all of the cute little things that she did. He might have been proud to take her places and show her off. Proud of how cute she was and her singing so cute. He might have been proud to be her uncle. Lots of things.

Yes. But I feel very strongly that someone else influenced that speech. You'd think that by then, a grown up man, he'd have been able to speak his own mind. Somehow, I don't think it's a possibility in that household, whether you live in, or out.

Jayla, I think that is spot on!!! I watched the ZFG depo again and what I took away from it was exactly as you described. Morgan would ask him things like didn't you call sis on it and say I know that is a lie. Lee would answer no, I have explained to you that was not my "strategy". He went on to detail if you are trying to gleam information from someone you have to believe them for them to continue divulging things to you. So the "I believe everything my sister tells me, because I have to" was explained with the dots pretty close together, and we see the little grin as he and Morgan chuckle. If you need a strategy to talk to your sibling, you are on to her, all day long. We heard him tell her she was lying and he knew she had lied to mom for five weeks, and that everything she had told police was a lie. We heard that on the very first phone call from jail. So, we know he is not naive. He plays her game to try to find clues in her lies. Lee avoiding each and every hearing in the case tells us where Lee stands. There is no boss in America that wouldn't let you take your lunch early or have two hours off in the morning and make it up after five if you had a family member on trial. He doesn't want to stand by her.The only action that would be more overt on his part would be to come to the hearings and sit on the prosecution side , front and center. imho

If so, how much influence did she have on Casey? Or Caylee, for that matter.

I'm not suggesting for one split-second that she doesn't love them, but I'm wondering whether her love was styflining, or worse, possessive to breaking point.

She strikes me as a person who is very strong and very determined and appears to be "together". Yet, at times, she falls into the "victim" role.

Pretense never serves anyone well. I don't know whether she's pretending for the sake of her daughter (BTW - if she is, she's doing a lousy job of it), or for herself. I tend for the latter.

The only innocent in this family was Caylee, and it's such a shame that she had to pay with her life for all their inadequacies.

Still - she's in a much better and beautiful place, and the rest can tear each other apart at their will.

I don't understand Lee anymore than I understand any of the others. If the CMA reference was directed to his sister, in a covert attempt to show support, then why hasn't he been at any of the hearings, been to visit her, etc...? It's such a weird way to "show support", if that's what he was doing (and I think it was).

Why not just say (if he meant it) "I'm so proud of you Casey, for protecting the family even though it means being in jail" or "proud of you for holding up as well as you can in prison while being wrongly accused", or whatever it was he meant or believed. I'm so proud of you Mom for surviving through this nightmare, or whatever, if he felt proud of them. Why be cryptic with the CMA, CMA. Very weird. As others posted here, I agree, the "I'm so proud" doesn't seem like it would be addressed to a child as young as Caylee, unless he qualified it with "I was always so proud to be your uncle, because you were such a wonderful little girl. I did always think it was just such a shame he didn't say more about Caylee. It wasn't the right place to speak about other things. Like many of you said here, if he wanted to talk to Casey, why not go to the prison to talk to her? Although I understood his appeal to everyone for information, I thought that was appropriate because it was about finding Caylee's killer. But the rest?
