I wonder why he texted "Private matter". If it were a family emergency or illness don't you think you'd use the term "personal matter", instead of private. Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to hear a plea deal or JB being dismissed or anything that exciting. So sad.

Can a client fire their attny once court proceedings in a case have begun? I don't think so. I consider jury selection as proceedings in a case.

Poor HHJP. I'm just a poor single mom of 3, but I wanted to buy him something, send him flowers, do something after that freakstorm in court today. He looked so disgusted and mad. I felt so bad.

I still <don't>understand why the SA's weren't all packed up and ready to go. Not getting that at all. And I think LDB did give ICA a long long look. It appeared to me that AF was placed in front of the camera to block ICA and I was glad when they switched to another camera angle.

I wondered if GA and CA were watching this and saw everyone saying guilty and maybe one of them suddenly confessed. Who knows.

I voted stall tactic. JB needed some time after this morning to find a ghostly outline of a certain body part I think he's missing.

Again, poor HHJP.

I think the judge made a mistake in not putting something on the record as far as why court was adjourned so suddenly, at least in the way of rampant media speculation. Maybe it is just a private matter of JB's, but why on earth he did not give some unspecified reason is beyond me. Of course people are going to start thinking plea deals, firings, and motions...why would he want all this ADDED attention to every little aspect of this case, when they don't even have a jury yet?

I agree -- I think the media circus is going to be even more so tomorrow morning and a lot more public showing up, too. The only thing that would've excused JB's disappearing act would be a family emergency, which I would think HHJP would have stated. Ashton and others said they couldn't comment because HHJP didn't put it on the record. So, what could be so "private" it can't even be a brief on record explanation???

I'm certain it has to do with the case and it's probably big. IMO, it's either a plea deal or JB is appealing the jury process and/or complaining about HHJP.

Whatever reason JB had, it was one that the judge could not contest. So, either something drastic happened in his (JB's) immediate family or JB is entitled to ask the proceedings to stop for a legal reason. I don't think he would be permitted to do so to file a motion...so, either it's a legitimate "family" issue or a legitimate "legal" issue. Without one of these two reasons, JP would have most likely ruled that the court had to proceed. (I agree with many that he did seem a bit snippy/peeved when he concluded for the day).

I hope you are right! but Why would LDB offer Casey anything when they were/are SO hell bent on taking this thing to trial and hopefully finding Casey guilty and sentenced to Death?

Why??? :snooty:I don't see the state needing to agree to anything at this point, unless they are pressured by their superiors to save the cost of a trial.

I don't either Linask and don't think they would accept anything less than guilty as charged.

I also don't think ICA would cop a plea. She has 12 people who have to agree on guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. She has a chance for anything to happen with the jury that could result in her favor. { Perish the thought }

I have watched the clip a few times and to me she could be saying "I just want out of this" or "I want them out of this".
