While that would certainly be the most expedient and economical thing to do, I hope that's not the case because I REALLY want to see her squirm. I want to see what other tricks the Defense has up its sleeves so we can shred them. I want to see JB get smacked down HARD. I want to know what the Prosecution might have held back from the public. I want to find out what other dirty secrets are going to come out.

We'll find out info during allocution, but who can believe ANYTHING ICA says? We've waited almost three years for this to come to trial. I want a TRIAL!

If it is a plea deal, why would JB leave? Wouldn't he and the other members of the DT and the state team be involved in negotiations this afternoon there in Pinellas courthouse?

How can he be in two trials at the same time? Trial period 6/6/2011 through June 16, 2011?
BBM
Unreal. And instead of asking the judge to be excused he left without notice?

Seriously, that case is a misdemeanor and Judge Perry has already told the lawyers he would excuse them from any other cases that are pending during the Anthony trial.

I think if JB is taking this case to a different region of FL, he's making a big mistake, just like he did changing judges.

  • #304
if they had a plea deal, they would not need a jury.

Yes she would - for sentencing. No way in the world would she want a judge to sentence her.

Court is in recess till tomorrow. Judge asked Cheney if he discussed with his client and he said yes and KC was crying.

I didn't see her crying, but with her, it's difficult to tell if she's really crying or giving us a show.

I did think she looked mighty unhappy with they returned to court and the judge called a recess until tomorrow after asking if Mason spoke to his client.

I missed a great deal this morning, and each time I came back to see what was happening, they were having a sidebar or the court logo was on screen. The dismissal of the afternoon session made it easier for me to go to my appointment.

As for what's up, I can't imagine the overly arrogant ICA taking a plea deal of LWOP. I do wish her attorneys would stress the evidence is against her, there's so much of it. But what do I know? I was a bit surprised when she pleaded guilty to the check charges even with all the video evidence and her name on the checks. I'm thinking her attorney knew her sentenced in that case would be light and time served.

I don't know what's up and I'm tired of guessing.

The defense is not allowed to do an interlocutory appeal, only the State.

Does this mean that JB can't file a motion against JP about the Jury selection?

  • #307
Why did JB leave? My vote goes to: "I have no clue".

Looking back over the tapes today the lawyers and KC are doing a lot of talking without covering their mouths.

Casey seemed relaxed to me.

Jose said it was a private matter. All matters between him and his client are private.

It can take time to work out a plea deal.

The last thing a judge would want to state is there is a plea deal in the works and then have it fail. He is not going to say Casey might plead guilty and then have it not happen.

You may be right, but ICA has heard PJ,after PJ say they thought she was guilty, and all the evidence they are basing that on is coming in!
Wake up call !

It would be a wake-up call to most of us, yes. But let's not forget, this is ICA we're talking about. I think she still believes she's going to walk, regardless of what any of the potential jurors had to say. She doesn't even flinch when the judge and lawyers talk about the DP, or lethal injection. If it were me, I'd be coming unglued! JMO.

I think he left because he had a serious hankering for grits from reading here all day and he just had to get some............

We don't know how many times she's come unglued during the last 3 years. I can imagine that coming unglued over and over and over again will eventually lead to numbness. I only say this because I've become quite numb regarding quite a few areas in my life. Her coming unglued in court every time the DP is mentioned isn't going to make a difference at all.

He did the same thing when he started representing kc. He was also N Diaz's atty who was on trial for murder at that time. He completely neglected Diaz to represent kc, leading him to file an appeal after he was found guilty. JB was consistently late or didn't show up at all to some of his hearings. Very unprofessional. He also used his "everything will come out at trial" and "you will all be shocked" with Diaz. Then, at trial . . . . nothing.

I just rewatched the end of JP's statment...he was breathing heavy and as he says this court is adjoined until 8:30 tomorrow morning he was visibly upset..to me it was anger!

I don't know if he was angry, but he definitely gave a very significant look to someone off camera that spoke volumes to whomever it was directed at.

I voted "stall tactic" because if he went to file a motion or try to have the judge removed, or wants to start over somewhere else etc. etc. etc. - it all boils down to a stall tactic.

To rhornsby-

Not to put you too much on the spot, but what was your take on today's early dismissal?

(Thanks in advance)!

Uhm,do you know what the acronym G.R.I.T.S. stands for? Girls Raised In The South :great:

OK, here is my guess: Baez had a personal emergency matter and Casey threw a hissy fit that she was not more important. Watching that clip, I think she mouths to Mason: "whatever it takes" and "you do it". I think she is miffed at Baez and saying she was going to can him if he left (and he left anyway).

Mohabi, you completely missed the point of my post, but that is ok. I think she still believes she is going to walk. I don't think she would plead guilty, not in a million years. If you think differently, that is fine. I'm just sharing my opinion.

Personally I keep waiting for Casey to enter the court room and shout, "I'm ready for my close up Mr. De Mille." and come at the camera with her claw like hands, gigantic teeth bared in a grimace that she thinks is a smile, and her mad eyes practically popping out of her skull ala Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard.

Casey is the star (the star!) of this show and she loves it. She may have her moments where reality leaks through to her but they are few and brief IMHO.
