True. That's why it's important to interview other individuals (who, granted, may also lie), as well as look for documented bahavior patterns (animal abuse, fascination with fire -- just tossing out examples). Analysis must be much broader, rather than relying solely on interviews with the...

Correct. BSL's arrest for sexual assault was in April 1999...so it seems he was not in police custody (out on bond?) when Lisa Pate vanished and was found. I believe he was convicted (guilty plea) in Feb. 2000? Interesting to note that his marriage occurred around the time Lisa's body was...

Thanks, I know. I mentioned in an earlier post that the archive was the only place I could find the orig article. The forum is moving fast! :rollercoaster:

Thanks. I saw that, but I was hoping to find a direct link to the article, rather than a copy and paste. (Am I suspicious much?) But since it's all we have for now ( and since someone else on the google groups site copied and pasted it vertbatim), it'll have to do.

I saw that comment on FB, but I believe Mrs. Laverne in her public statement stated that she adopted BSL at birth and therefore, I thought the commenter was incorrect about the person she identified as the alleged abuser. Just my two cents.

I tried locating the original article, but closest I can find is a link to purchase an archived copy. I'll keep looking, though.

Yes, that's what I read, too. I felt in my gut he was related to that case.

Kfly fb page says two true bills for murder....mickey and Lisa Tate in 1999 (i believe it's actually Pate, as reported in another news story.) ETA : i'll add link when I stop shaking!)

Oh, I agree they can go into all sorts of areas, but my uncle's horse suffered a horrible fall while being ridden in a field where the ground was wet and clay-like. It was unclear whether the horse slipped, or whether one of his hooves sunk down in the dirt causing the horse to lose its...

The Shreveport Times article linked above indicated that at least some of the volunteers were riding ATVs. I don't know the ratio of horseback/vehicle, but I imagine it depends on the terrain and weather conditions. If it's been raining and the ground is very wet, it makes sense not to use...

I'm not a lawyer, but I spend a lot of time around them. Every one of them told me that it's okay to answer very general questions, but if it appears that the police are honing in on you then to immediately stop the interview and request a lawyer. Even if you're innocent (one said especially...

Do you know if they offer curtained off examination areas (which might still be numbered)? For patient's privacy sake, I cannot imagine them examining every patient in one big open area. I'm not trying to be contrary...just trying to understand the layout. (I was in an ER once where I had...

Generally grand jury proceedings are "closed" so we're not likely to hear all the details that LE has to present. (We may be leaked an item or two.). Keep in mind, also, that the investigation is still ongoing so there will be new evidence found and added. Of course, the defense counsel will...

I was surprised to see the post on the KATC facebook page stating that BSL will appear before the grand jury. In my experience, at least in my local area, the defendants most often do not appear. He would not be asked questions, but rather the prosecutors will present their case to see...

That was my take, too. I don't know how Ochsner is set up, but my son had an accident and was taken to the ER (at another hospital). He was triaged and then eventually brought to an exam room (still within the ER) for further evaluation & treatment. After the doctor examined the xrays...

Thanks. I think the confusion stems from the top of page 1 of the JPSO report. Begin time is 1500, end time is 15:30, address is Ochsner. I believe these times indicate the time of the alleged robbery. Ochsner's address was used because BSL stated he didn't know where the incident occurred...

Yep. I stand corrected. :-) But I wonder if she was shocked b/c she thought she knew him, or shocked b/c a potential murderer sat in her chair and asked her out...perhaps a bit of both.

Possibly, but there's usually at least a few casual acquaintances who want thto respond to a subseqeir 10 seconds of fame and who will talk, or perhaps do not register on LE's radar (So they weren't asked not to talk). Then reporters can be pretty resourceful. I agree 100% about those not...
