I think the cross has been there for weeks. Also, the remains were found laying under a grove of trees and that cross isn’t in that location.

Those rocks have plainly been there more than a a few hours. I could see BL placing them in the area but not LEO's - especially those that may need to come back to the crime scene for something later. I think the poster is stretching the imagination.
