To me, it doesn't make sense either way. But yet it happened for some reason.
If it was suicide, why pick that location and that walk to the final location?
If it was a car jacking, a hit, any kind of meeting gone bad - why leave the car and body in such close proximity?
I don't think we know that for certain.
We just know that no information was released or even discussed by family or LE about when and where the phone pinged. It's possible the ping information stopped or coincided with the vehicle discovery location but wasn't available until after the car was...
Back then, snow tires and mud grips were often interchangeable. In fact, they were often advertised as "mud and snow" tires. Today you have tires designed specifically for mud or snow use.
The types of racing are different. Drag racing is straight line racing, almost entirely American car makes. NASCAR was a circle track race, at that time entirely American cars. The IMSA Camel GT racing (the shirt James wore) was dominated by European cars and ran on "road courses" with many more...
I think that scenario, given where the car was left, makes more sense than someone stealing the car to chop and not chopping it for parts in the (roughly) week between him missing and the car being found.
Because of limited parking access, oil field workers may not always drive to the job site. In many cases, workers are shuttled from a common pickup location to the jobsite in vans or old school busses. It just depends on the regulations and layout of the terrain.
Calif was the official abbreviation for a period of time before the USPS instituted the two letter abbreviations in 1963.
The old style abbreviations like FLA and WVA remained popular even after the 1963 changes so I could see why someone of his age might still be using the old CALIF...
And the other idea "surely he'd realize he was on the wrong road" ?
Not necessarily. As a user of Waze, it's common to be re-routed a different way on the same trip due to traffic conditions, road construction, etc. He'd only made the trip one or two times before. If Waze hadn't told him to turn...
It's possible he had a bad reaction to drugs he took.
it's also possible he simply suffered from the trauma of the accident - not necessarily the physical trauma.
Statements like "surely he would have found and taken his phone" make sense - but believe me you are not always thinking clearly...
My thoughts:
1) He/she was time constrained and had to get back to the area of her apartment on a schedule that didn't make a car wash practical - especially if they weren't real familiar with the area.
2) You can wipe the inside of a car and remain inconspicuous. You park a car and get out and...
We can only guess, but it would appear the shutting down of Waze and opening Snapchat meant he was no longer instructed to turn where he should turn so he went straight ahead.
So he comes across Rt 80. Route 80 becomes Austin Street in Lulling. If he missed where 183 turns way from Austin...
The house was sold with a valid POA previously signed by Alan many years ago. The POA is available to view along with the actual transaction on the county website.
But it's not off on it's own road. The salon was right along Matt Highway (GA state route 369). When the picture is taken facing the hair salon, it appears isolated, but it is right against a busy state road - the parking lot abuts the state highway. It's probably busier now that it was in...
I lived in that area between Hilliard and Galloway before moving in 2000. there was still lots of vacant land, but development was happening quickly. And still is.
As you pointed out, the trash goes south - not west.
Another vehicle hitting the car would cause different damage than the impact with a tree. The damage is to the rear side of the car, not directly from the rear. That would mean a second vehicle had to hit his car from the side (in a 90º impact) not coming up behind and ramming it. Then the...
The passenger door being locked is significant. It greatly reduces (but does not eliminate) the odds a second person was in the car.
It also shows that the car's driver (most likely Jason) was not thrown around in the car - like car happen in an accident with an unbelted driver. So the driver...
I don't think we know the phone loses signal. It's possible the "digital footprint ends" could mean that Jason never interacted with the phone again.
This statement could have several meanings and I've never heard it asked what the person making the comment meant.
The state and counties contract with specific towing companies, there may be one or more towing companies that cover a specific area.
When you look at what happened, the timeline makes more sense. I will state this as opinion, but you can research a lot of this online if you want to verify...
The POA documents for the sale/purchase are filed with the county for the property transactions. The POAs were created years ago (my guess is because they were not able to be legally married). I am guessing they each had reciprocal POAs.
I doubt the family is going on a TV show. After being somewhat vocal about the case originally, they went silent. So did the police. The reason why? We can only guess.
