IMO, I think it's really weird. I have a business degree and yet my sister is the executor of my father's will. It is because she is the eldest, plain and simple. The only reason I can think of is that RD still has a share in the family business, even though he is retired. In that case...

Good point! I was thinking the search of the Dermond house this morning was totally pointless. If LE had turned the property back over to the family, no new evidence today would hold up in court because of contamination of the crime scene (surely the family had the house cleaned when they came...

I wonder if they found the head last week and that's why LE was incredibly quiet for the past several days. I read an article that talked about a certain kind of equipment that was being employed in the lake after the discovery of SD's body. Around Memorial Day, Sills made a public...

Did anyone catch the comment that Sills searched the house again yesterday? Did I hear that right?? Just to elaborate on my earlier comment, it was not meant to be counterproductive. My feeling is that the specific person of interest in this case will not personally donate to the reward...

Am I the only one who believes the reward has very little to do with raising an actual reward and more to do with data collection? Sort of like Sills asking neighbors to fill out a questionnaire about the Dermonds but really collecting finger prints?! I immediately thought it was very weird...

The money laundering thing sounds viable, actually. Just google restaurant franchise and money laundering to see why. Apparently, the franchise is "the new darling of money launderers". Many major chains have been used. What if the sale of the Wendy's restaurants resulted in such a...

No, as a wealthy married couple, you want to have one trust. Here is a link that can explain the avoidance of double taxation better than I can :) http://wills.about.com/od/overviewoftrusts/a/abtrust.htm

I actually think it's just one, depending really on state laws. It would typically be an A/B Trust to avoid the federal inheritance tax rates. The A/B refers to the ownership, with A and B being a married couple. Without establishing this kind of trust, a married couple would pay inheritance...

If the Dermonds had a trust, and it sounds as though they did by the gifting of the land, then their estate won't be subject to probate. The trust usually spells out exactly the chain of ownership of the trust such as if RD dies, the whole of the trust falls to SD and the other way around...

Ryolite, did VS have a heart attack?!? I missed that! The last article I could find said her drowning was probably going to be confirmed accidental, but I never saw anything after. Hmm, I guess it all really is a strange series of coincidences....tragic and strange coincidences...

Umm, two people drowning in the same lake, in the same month, at the same time two dead bodies found, one in the neighboring lake, one in a lakefront home?!? Yes, yes, Vicki Stephens was ruled a drowning. BUT. The last published report on a Friday said on Monday, they expected it to be ruled...

Thank you, Lake Oconee, for the heads up on the new Sills article. It reaffirms my belief that Sills has known for quite some time who did this. IMO, he has been so incredibly thorough in this investigation, it goes beyond fact finding. While I think he knows the answer to many questions...

I read a few articles about the Reynolds founder who was robbed last year. I had no idea the prestige in that community! Wowzers! I believe that several big time franchise owners live in RP, including the Chick-Fila founder and maybe the Arby's fellow? I just skimmed the articles late at...

Oh, and they also owned something in FL for a brief minute close to their children. I think it was just land but I would have to double check.

A quick search will provide addresses in Waterbury, Ct, paradise Valley, Az, Huntcliff (Sandy Springs), and actually several places right around Eatonton. I assume they rented two different houses while their GW home was being built. It's also possible one or more of the addresses in the...

I was thinking about what Oceanblueeyes said in an earlier post about elderly people and Ponzi schemes. While I would assume the majority of Great Waters homeowners are extremely well educated and obviously financially savvy, it is not beyond comprehension that they could fall into a scheme like...

Sills most certainly said "they knew the person they opened the door for..." In an earlier interview he alluded to the same thing, however in a more casual way. I believe that statement was more along the lines that the suspect was "someone they WOULD open their door to..." Logically, I would...

My assumption was that the cadaver dogs led LE directly to the dock and water, hence the initial search of the water surrounding the Dermonds dock. I think finding Shirley in the water just solidified what the dogs already told them.
