FBI seems to think there's a very good chance of it. I don't think the FBI just says things like that for the heck of it.

Here would be something useful. Delphi is only a town of about 3000 people. Automatically rule out everyone who lived in the city before 2012. That will rule out probably 85% of the current residents. Now we have a subset of 450 people, rule out everyone who is not a caucasian man at least...

I read an article yesterday that said the FBI thinks there could be a connection between the two cases. Our perp lived in Iowa in 2012 and now he lives in Delphi, Indiana. He could be some kind of worker whose job makes him travel from place to place.

I grew up one county over from Delphi. I had been to Delphi many times throughout my life and had no idea those trails or that train bridge even existed. Delphi is an out of the way place, basically in the middle of no where. My point is, only locals know about those trails and that bridge...

It sounds soulless to me. Kind of hard to explain why, but it strikes me as someone who has done a considerable amount of time. Just has that ring to it.

Has it been said if they went directly from their homes to the hiking trails, or is it possible that they went somewhere else first and then to the hiking trails? Did they maybe stop at a local restaurant to get lunch before heading out to the trails? It's possible that if they went to eat that...

Have had family members who had mental illness. I know it quite well. Also witnessed one of them become violent and delusional as a result. Not to the level of murder, but scary.

You mean like allowing himself to be videoed and then possibly not getting the victim's phone? I'd say he at least flunked SK 101

I'm starting to think that we are giving the perp way too much credit with some of the theories. I'm thinking it's more likely that he is just a drifter who is mentally disturbed. A paranoid, psychotic, schizophrenic, he hides out in rural areas like this. The girls unfortunately caught him...

or does he have his hand on a weapon getting ready to pull it out?

They haven't given details about their injuries, but a fall from high would be evident by specific injuries if that happened.

Exactly, you put on a heavy coat because you need one. It's cold out. He is coming from someplace colder, from the North or East. But if he is a drifter, he needs that warm coat at night, he lives in it. To me, his clothes don't look very dirty, so I think he got up early where it is...

I have a feeling that they realized they were in grave danger when the perp unexpectedly subdued one of girls with some type of weapon, maybe a knife? Maybe all she had time to do was quickly hit record. She may have been informed that if she made another move.......we know this ended very badly

Originally being a small town Indiana person myself, he sounds like people I knew as a child. Running the words together is important here. That's how some "hicks" and "white trash" spoke. Lack of education, backwoods rural folk.

Interstate 65 is not that far away, and there is a Delphi exit near Lafayette Indiana. Assuming a drifter, he could have followed 65 down from Chicago, maybe hitched and was dropped off near Lafayette then wandered up highway 25 to Delphi.

They have never said if a sexual assault took place. I speculate that at least one of the girls was. That would be the best source, but if one of the girls went out scratching and clawing, that could be another source.

Probably heated moments leading to the crime that are not fit for general public consumption, i.e. vulgar language and specific details of the perps intentions.

If I remember correctly, the reason for the school being closed was a built in snow day. The snow day was never used so kids got last Monday off. I don't think this would necessarily apply to any other school.

I don't know why, but photo 2 of the guy creeps me out. It doesn't look like a natural action. It looks like he is exaggerating his action. He's trying to get their attention, or realizes that he is being filmed and he is making an aggressive stomping action. Psycho behavior!

Good point, this guy had to eat somewhere, get gas for his car, get money from an ATM, etc. There are cams at many businesses. He's on one somewhere near.
