Madeleine McCann: German Prisoner Identified as Suspect, #39

You didn't miss anything. It was mainly just repeating bits from Bilton's 2007 and 2012 Panoramas.

Or, he's just a show pony. We'll see (eventually!)

Madeleine McCann: German Prisoner Identified as Suspect, #39

That's a very diplomatic paragraph. If they were asked to agree to it by superiors there would have been no reason to refuse to do so (imo)

Madeleine McCann: German Prisoner Identified as Suspect, #39

There was a BBC programme in August about the trial of William MacDowell in Scotland for the murders of Renee and Andrew MacRae. Very interesting and (imo) relevant if you didn't see it. It's on Iplayer. (No spoiler just in case) Murder Trial - The Disappearance of Renee and Andrew MacRae...

Madeleine McCann: German Prisoner Identified as Suspect, #39

What happened in Sweden is relevant. It showed the errors prosecutors and psychologists - and judges - can make and do make, particularly when they are relying heavily on 'confession' evidence. For all we know something of a similar phenomenon may be involved in Germany's MM investigation.

Neither of the two witnesses the appeal judges accepted definitely saw the killer ID'd BG. It wasn't him.

They heard you :) Conviction of man for Lin and Megan Russell murders reviewed after Levi Bellfield confession

Madeleine McCann: German Prisoner Identified as Suspect, #39

Sweden was mad keen on them for a while (mostly in the bizarre story of Sture Bergwall/Thomas Quick)

If they do dismount they won't be doing it before the other five cases have been dealt with imo. They'll have all their fingers and toes crossed they can prosecute them successfully, eventually. If they do then they've succeeded in keeping him incarcerated and the MM case isn't so...

Definitely some truth in it because we all saw his chat with Bild's Kai Feldhaus. He's clearly not a contented man/witness. We don't need 'a German source' to know that.

GUILTY UK - Nurse Lucy Letby, murder of babies, 7 Guilty of murder verdicts; 7 Guilty of attempted murder; 2 Not Guilty of attempted; 6 hung re attempted #32

Imo it's not a lie, it's just they find outside interference intolerable and a hindrance to the running of the hospitals.

The ones they were able to agree on yes. But when did they tell the judge they couldn't reach verdicts on the others?

I don't know, if the Bild guys don't know what chance have we got :D

Madeleine McCann: German Prisoner Identified as Suspect, #39

Brunt didn't say he doesn't, he's just explaining why people might doubt the bullish claims. One thing they don't mention in that discussion is that the justice system in Germany is different to the one all four of the folks in the programme are used to. Maybe they should have done.

Madeleine McCann: German Prisoner Identified as Suspect, #39

Brunt's heard it all before, many times. Prosecutors can claim whatever they want but it's meaningless until words turn into actions. (We know in 2007 he made the mistake of believing bold claims. I expect he's been on guard in this case ever since)

    Good discussion. Cheers Richard.

Couldn't say anything else imo given the evidence provided in 2007, which said the apartment was completely unsecured. Even those not very familiar with the case know that.

Rowley said it too. "However she left that apartment...". Straight from the top horses mouth.

Imo investigators and prosecutors in any country can convince themselves anything is true in extraordinary circumstances. The Germans wouldn't be the first and they won't be the last.
