IMHO Casey probabvly doesn't think she's done anything terribly wrong, including killing her own daughter - justifying it by believing herself to be a victim in life, not able to lead the lifestyle she wants because other people are holding her back.
Casey is also in the same bad position as the little boy who cried "wolf", she has lied so often, that nobody will believe any story she tells now, even if it would happen to be the truth.
If they have a proven dead body in the trunk, motive, opportunity, and no other possible suspects, and the boatload of Casey's lies, they will have strong case, as there will be little room for reasonable doubt.
"It does her no good to show her cards to give the prosecution any advantage they have to put her away for life," Jose Baez saidWTH
Translated - she killed her, but she ain't confessin.
Baez has a real problem. To cast reasonable doubt, he has to float an "accident" theory, but to do that, Casey almost has to testify, which would of course, be a disaster for her. A real catch-22. I don't think using the "somebody else did it" theory will float with any jury.
More importantly, Casey's lies can be used against her, for example, if she is accused of murder and claims it was an accident, then the prosection will say, "but didn't you tell police that a Zaneida Gonzales kidnapped your child? If you were lying then, why should we believe you now?"
I think the point here is that with the recent release of the witness list, and changing to calling her a suspect, that charges are coming down the line fairly soon. The semantics of suspect vs person of interest really aren't that important.
I don't believe the anmouncement means much, they also just announced a list of 82 witnesses, as if they are getting ready for a trial. This is just gamesmanship.
The thing is, if the hair is from a decomposed body, it has to be Caylee's by elimination(i.e. Casey is still alive), I thought that had been established, it's sure been said on NG enough times.
Since Casey will likely spend several years in jail for the fraud charges, they really can take their time bringing the murder charge. Since they have released the 82 name witness list, they do seem to be heading towards the direction of bringing charges, however.
I really don't understand, finding a body will give them nothing more, they already have Caylee dead in the trunk, with chloroform as the murdering agent, what more do they want?
They have enought evidence, they're just fine tuning what they've got. A body will help little at this point , even in the unlikely event it is found.
An arrest should happen soon, I would think, there's little holding them back.
