Interesting that the Aussie reporter was front and center with questions. I forget this tragedy reaches across the world . Do we have any sleuthers in here from down under ? How is this being covered down there ?

Maybe it’s changed. It used to be two months minimum for cool off. Plus there are checks on references and spousal/partner consent. Haven’t looked at the application form to see whether it requires names and phone numbers of resident family members as well as spouses/partners.

It still asks for references yes. As for spouse/partner not possible to put down a name if you don’t have one.

True, but then think of Len Dyck. No one reported him missing and it took quite awhile to ID him.

And, anyone on vacation wouldn't be missed right away since people expect them to be out of touch.

I think it's a possibility they have another car.

Exactly, plus people working out there won't be expected to contact their friends etc 24/7, service is bad in that area I'm sure. It is pretty much known you won't have 24/7 access to friends or family when in the north regions of Canada.

There are also a lot of people driving accross the country at this time, who wouln't be reported right away either.

There's only one road in to Gilliam, and one road out. I believe they retreated to a cabin and/or shelter in the woods, and their bodies will be recovered there.

Yeah, I think that’s likely as well.

I do think they’re probably still alive, but who knows.

When they get hungry, thirsty, or tired of being eaten alive, they might be forced to leave, or could decide to just end it then.

I can’t imagine them being taken into custody.

Was the gas station in Gillam or in one of the other provinces? I keep getting it all confused.

The gas station was at Split Lake. It’s about 2 hrs away but on the road heading toward Gillam.

I just feel like if they were up there and on foot they would have been found already - surely they have tracking dogs out with people familiar with the terrain and they would be a heck of a lot quicker than a couple young guys who have likely never been in that area?

I was kind of thinking the same, however, in order to do a thorough organized search of remote wooded areas, I think it would take a day or two for the RCMP to get all their supplies to Gillam and start a thorough organized search. Like with Helicopters, Planes, Drones, Dogs, 4-wheel-drive vehicles, maybe some horseback searchers, etc.

So maybe they are just now getting to the point where full force and lots of needed equipment is just now arriving in Gillam.

She’s the Communications Officer of RCMP, Manitoba. She also gave the PC yesterday. Her Canadian “accent” sounded completely natural to me.

You know better. Didn't sound as pronounced as what I've heard.

I did hear an Australian accent in the journalist section though. Still wondering if any American involvement. Chynna is from NC.

Not surprising given that Fowler is the son of Chief Police Inspector in Australia.

And there was that rumor about them getting a ride to Snow Lake. That's only 3 hours from The Pas

Yep apparently in a green car so much being said hopefully people are being safe out there .There's so many tourists this time of year if they changed appearance will be hard to recognized. Thank goodness I'm West coast loving now

according to Google, it's about an hour drive from Gillam. Looks like there is or was a hydro station there as well.

I strongly believe they have another car. I believe they drove out of Gillam before the burning Rav 4 was even sighted. JMO

Her accent sounds like mine. Maybe an eastern Canada accent if there is such a thing.
