it will be like being in the witness stand for Oscar for 8 hours a day for 30 days.. except for weekends..

none of these psyches are on his payroll. none on uncle arthurs payroll.

Trooper, I only wish it was going to be like you describe, but I can't see that conducting formal assessments of him will take much of his time. Unless they expect OP to join in all the various activities and groups that are usually part of psychiatric care. Though, IMO he'd hate that, I suspect that they won't expect him to attend.

IMO, this whole day patient assessment is a load of bollocks, and any new assessment which attempts to assess OP's mental state 16 months ago is absurd. I'd love to hear how anyone thinks that they can do this accurately!! ,

One case springs to mind in my country.

ACCUSED murderer Simon Gittany has been taken into custody after a Supreme Court judge ruled his bail should be revoked.

Justice Lucy McCallum gave the order today after Gittany's defence team closed its case.

Roux is probably relieved -- a 30 day break from OP.
MOO

Oh. Whoop talking head's just said this outpatient order has set a legal precedent.

So other courts are likely to order outpatient visits for suspected murderers too now....

Kinda OT but thought I ask given the lack of trial these days.

Does anyone know anything about a SA news photographer(I think) named Jackie Clausen?

OP outside court, waiting for his car, 'looking pretty emotionless'.

I have never had a psyche assessment done on me, some would say, why not? that's how it is, but I know people who have, and its no picnic.. he will be cared for and treated politely but these people are fully aware and experienced in assessment of those charged with a criminal act.. even murder, or most probably murder.. Oscar will be one more in the queue of thousands before him, more to come.

I honestly don't see this as a win for Oscar in any context..

I agree. It is not a win or loose situation for defence or prosecution .
At the end of the day we will have a comprehensive report from qualified independent specialist's that will establish fully his mental capacity at the time of the crime and prevent his mental state from being used at appeal in the event of him being found guilty of some of the charges .

Well that's all folks.......back to bed for me......arg...June 30th.....wish we could know what is going on . Updates from the hospital/mental ward

Yes, would be great if we could have live streaming from the CCTV cameras, wouldn't it?!

I'd like to hire a really noisy little plane and fly it constantly over Uncle Arnold's property with a big banner reading "JUSTICE FOR REEVA'!!!

Me too, AlexUK. I also wish there was a big billboard with that on it that OP would have to see every single time he left the luxurious confines of uncles' compound.

He will have lengthy interviews and a whole range of tests that take from 30 mins to 3 hrs to complete.

This latest development makes me think of "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" ...anyone else seen the movie? perhaps OP will outshine Jack Nicholson in this role and not get out?!

Weskoppies is a public psychiatric hospital in Pretoria, Gauteng. It is situated to the west of the city centre and was built on the site of the old botanical gardens. Wikipedia
Address: Ketjen St, Pretoria 0117, South Africa
Hours:
Open today · 7:30 am – 2:30 pm

Feel like we deserve a Weskoppies live stream.

Kind of like the reality show Big Brother. They should make him compete in challenges against the other patients.

I think I need to go to bed and sleep off my sarcasm. :eek:fftobed:

So is there a psych that examines him named Pistorious? If so I wonder what the chances are they're related. (cough)

This seems like a vacation compared to court. He goes from 9am until 4 pm every weekday, or until he is dismissed for the day, and talks to the assigned shrinks?

He will appreciate the personal attention and will cry on cue, imo.

.. and my guess is that he won't be being evaluated/assessed for that whole time period from 9-4 every day (that would be one heck of a lot of work for the psychologists) and that what I take from it is that he has to make himself available during those hours. It may not even be for 30 days, either .. they might even be able to assess him in a period of a week, leaving him with a month's extra holiday (for all we know ..).

Couldn't help but notice those 4 women in green in the front row. They looked ready to make Oscar soup.

They're there from the ANCWL (ANC's Women's League) - have been very supportive to Reeva's mom and family throughout.

I can't imagine they would allow someone related to be part of the assessment but hey this is OP .........
