Detective reads Emily's handwritten statement

“Then the seven minutes of interviews were played. Audio was low and hard to hear. Of note, her weed gets brought to her by a man named Mike. She does not know his last name.”

So, Mike no last name ‘the dealer’ brings her her weed. Does Mike only bring her a days supply at a time? Cause where’s the weed? And where’s the paraphanalia? And does she have Mikes number in her phone that she turned over to LE? So much in that one paragraph to dissect.

I personally think that she got rid of any stash & paraphernalia prior to calling 911, possibly at the same time she "disappeared" Lucas -- but I still believe a lot of her "cleaning" took place on late Fri into Sat. Notes indicate house was free of clutter and garbage and "relatively" clean -- indicates to me that perhaps it was not clean to the level one would anticipate after having spent most of Friday cleaning as she described? Could be nothing though.

Another possibility -- she's using behind JH's back, and she either borrows or uses disposable means of paraphernalia. I may have just heard urban legend so anyone can jump in to correct me on this, but I have heard of some dealers providing needles, spoons, etc, with the drugs as a way to make using that much easier, especially for those who are trying to stay sober. Again -- all speculation.

My observations from this. http://www.kansas.com/latest-news/article211200799.html

1) She calls it cannabis (very formal) But she called the cigarette a cig. Hmmm..

2) Gardeners usually use gardening gloves. But, gardening without gloves doesn't usually cause too much serious injury!

3) A 5 year old and 1 year old both sleeping til 8:30/9? Must be nice!

4) She seemingly did a lot of laundry.

5) Interestingly specific mention of cleaning the 'back bonus room"

6) She had the dates wrong numerically but had the days of the week right.

I wanted to offer some thoughts on the court proceedings today.

Cell phones were confiscated upon entering the courtroom. Media was present and left periodically to do updates. JO was there in the morning and was with someone, but left after the first recess around 10:30. It is most likely that other parties had family members there, but without photographs, positive identification cannot be made at this time.

For the most part, glass looked straight ahead at the witness. She wore black slacks and a black shirt with a gray sweater. She was not wearing glasses and looked healthy.

A WPD officer was the first witness. He essentially testified that he responded to a call at EG's residence on 2/17 because EG called police. He was at the residence for more than an hour. He wore a body camera. He had access to the garage. Pictures of the garage and of EG's daughter were admitted into evidence. There was an area set up in the garage with chairs and an ash tray. He testified that the house was free from clutter and trash, EG's daughter was clothed, clean, and appeared emotionally happy. He does not recall seeing any cannabis or paraphernalia, and would have reported it if he had.

The next witness was a Crime Scene Investigator which helped process the residence. He said that a lot of manpower goes into processing each case. He arrived around 10:30 p.m. and they worked to process the scene all night. He worked until his shift ended around 6:00 a.m. He took 230 photos of the entire residence and created a diagram of the residence. Some relevant photos presented into evidence included those of the backseat of EG's white SUV showing a car seat and a booster seat buckled in side by side. He testified he "processed" the vehicle. He also testified that an occupant of the home provided a written waiver to process the house. Defense showed that there were food and beverages in the fridge and the house was relatively clean.

The next witness was a homicide detective. He was called to the house around 10:30 p.m. He interviewed EG four times. They are all recorded. The dates are 2/18, 2/19, 2/20, and 2/21. EG requested the second interview and brought up cannabis use.

Detectives obtained all of EG's phone records from her carrier. The limited pings offered into testimony showed the phone near Olive Garden at Rock and Central at 4:53 p.m. and 5:43 p.m. EG's written statement was read into evidence. It is summarized, in short hand form, as follows:

Friday, woke up. Changed the kids. Took LH's pullup off and put on underwear. Gave them pop tarts and fruit. Put on cartoons for them while I did laundry. Lounged with the kids and watched cartoons. Smoked a cigarette. Gave daughter a bottle. Did more laundry.

Around noon, gave kids sphagetti-o's and PBJ. LH's tummy hurt. Gave him Zofran and put him in his room to watch a movie. He asked to. Cleaned up after lunch. Checked on LH every 20-30 minutes. Did more laundry. Took a break from cleaning My hands hurt from working in the flower bed. I smoked pot in the garage and got hungry.

I remembered JH gave me a gift card and I decided to eat quick at Olive Garden. Took daughter. Left LH because he fell asleep. Landlord called at 5:30. Said he needed in the house by six to fix the sewer lines. I had been smelling weird things. I told him I was almost home. On my way home he called again.

At home, I made Lucas dinner and gave the kids baths. I put them to bed and talked to JH by video chat.

Then the seven minutes of interviews were played. Audio was low and hard to hear. Of note, her weed gets brought to her by a man named Mike. She does not know his last name.

She has cracks on her hands and has for years. She then rolled up her sleeves to show the detectives her arms also. She hurt her hands digging in the garden. Also, it was her first time going to OG from her new house and she does not remember the route she took.

After showing the video, the judge had a bench conference with the attorneys for several minutes and put white noise on the speakers so they could not be heard. During the bench conference, EG looked over multiple times at three people sitting in the courtroom -- a man and woman about 55, and a woman about 35 -- and she gave a thumbs up with a look on her face like she was asking a question. Then, they broke for lunch.

The events after lunch have been reported.

Wonderful reporting!

It makes me very mad that she claims she gave him Zofran because Lucas said his tummy was hurting.

Zofran is to prevent naseau and to prevent throwing up. It is NOT supposed to be given for a stomach ache. Not from what I am reading about that medicine. Grrrrrrrr

It makes me wonder how much she misused giving this medicine to him.
If this was her go to medicine for stomache aches then she had that all wrong. Grrrrrr

http://www.kansas.com/latest-news/article211200799.html

I doubt he had a tummy ache. This just gives more weight to the theory that he was vomiting due to a head injury and her selfish self decided to try to handle it herself rather than risk taking him to a Doctor.

Unless otherwise stated, everything above is MOO[emoji230][emoji5]

Hmmm. Wonder if this is part of a plan to build a possible defense for later on, (to possibly defend herself against later, more serious charges) like maybe claiming she can't remember what happened after she got home. Remember, the VIs have said to focus on the dark hours after EG arrived back from her OG excursion.

How long does a person stay high? Is it a slow 'come down', or suddenly you are sober?

I'm not sticking up for EG, but trying to understand why she felt zofran would help his tummy, and all I can figure is that maybe that's how Lucas described it when he felt nauseous, or maybe EG was trying to prevent nausea. If I had a kid that had GI issues like it's been described that Lucas had, I wouldn't be feeding them spaghettios and PBJs. They'd be getting bland food. That stood out to me. That'd be a nasty mess to clean up.

Absolutely this. MOO, she was so focused on her image and the details she wanted to put forth (like "lounging with the kids," and either cleaning or waiting to clean or checking on Lucas multiple times), she lost sight of common sense details.

Btw, if she was checking on Lucas every 20-30 minutes and "sometimes" just to say hi, how long was Lucas in his room--how many hours? Seems like a long time in my mind for him to be in there with her checking on him 2-3 times per hour with no mention of bathroom breaks or calls to her that he doesn't feel well or falling asleep much earlier. Just weird, imo.

Exactly she's writing the script. Wish we could have Lucas's account, imo it would be very different than the stage she is setting.

Good point.

I only know a couple people that would clean and do laundry multiple times a day like she claims and she does not strike me as one of those types of people. :)

:gthanks:

So...I have to give a general THANKS to everyone on this thread/past threads, to our VI's and to everyone reporting the events today...with a special shout out to kansasjason!

I am often only doing a quick check in by phone, not logged in, keeping up best I can. I feel so bad for all the great posts I wasn't logged in to thank! So, may I be so bold to give a general thanks to all that are here for Lucas.

I don't know, it's been a looooong time since I partook. I would guess that it would depend on the strain being smoked and the person. Maybe someone with more recent knowledge will answer.

No, I have NEVER heard of that at all. I have been around addicts and dealers of all substances - they definitely do not provide paraphernelia, unless maybe they are a close friend and you ask them but that would be way out of the norm. That's just more evidence to have on you if you get caught.

Yes I also believe she got rid of all evidence of drug usage along with Lucas and most likely whatever she was wearing at the time that whatever happened happened. I think she was thinking clearly enough to know she should get rid of any forensic evidence she could, but not realizing she was going to later cop to using and going to OG. I think that flaw in her rush to appear innocent of anything could well trip her up. She is crazy like a fox but even foxes get caught in traps.

It could be when they processed the house they did not open every cabinet and search as the focus was on Lucas - so she might not of gotten rid of any pot or paraphernalia she had if she stores in a cabinet or something in the garage.

Jumping ahead,

She sure did a lot of laundry with the washing machine not hooked up..

Could be the house came with washer and dryer - and the washer not hooked up was one they owned at the apartment. I would have to go and look and see if the apartments they lived in had washer dryer hookups in each apartment.

Oh? I missed that the washing machine wasn't hooked up?

And to answer the question about coming down from pot - yeah, you usually come down gradually. The only thing I've ever tried that you are high one second and then feel sober suddenly was the early version synthetic pot, about 10 or so years ago.

I’m sorry but in her notes she kept saying and then I did more laundry.....how? If washing machine wasn’t hooked up yet?

Sorry just caught up and saw that this was already mentioned. Gosh just want to give a sincere thanks for the wonderful court recap! Excellent job!

In the KAKE video I saw that in, washer unhooked in garage door, looked to me to be when police were there, at the house. So I wondered if it was processed as well especially considering how much laundry she claimed to do in that 24 hour period
