My next to youngest got the flu and it was super scary - he doesn’t get sick often but when he does it’s baaaad. He was on the threshold for needing IV and hospital intervention.
He has had to have that before, with strep because he couldn’t eat or drink and he didn’t tell me he didn’t feel well until he was at the point of needing hospitalization. I remember being so angry with myself at the time for not noticing but he truly didn’t act any different than usual.
My youngest has what is called cyclical vomiting, and without his preventive he throws up daily. It doesn’t affect his weight or appetite or anything else other than his teeth. It’s comorbid with his autism. It’s quite alarming when it happens, the preventive doesn’t truly stop all of it. I had him at the doctor weekly until we got it figured out. First his GP then specialists because it is concerning with a child vomiting often! He also has other issues which we have addressed with medications using trial and error until we find the medicine and dosage that works best for him.
Im not sure what the point of this post was other than to say, when your child is sick how can a concerned parent ignore it to just ‘the medicine isn’t working because he’s still sick’ ?!?!
@ScarlettLin O/T: I believe my 8 year old has CVS as well but we are having trouble getting it diagnosed. Currently using zofran daily to control it. Sometimes works. My question for you, does your son's CVS come with migraine headaches? My son's always does and is like clockwork. Its not everyday like your son, but every single Monday without fail and occasionally on other days but always on Mondays.
Currently, his full treatment is zofran, magnesium, and once we find a liquid or chewable B-2/Riboflavin of a high enough dose, we are hoping that would help. What is your sons current regiment? Feel free to send a message so we dont take Lucas' thread too far off topic.
Thanks!
