JC's hands are cuffed, she would not be able to wipe her eyes or nose by herself, it would be odd if her attorney had not done this.

Maybe her hands being shackled had something to do with it? IMO

Fourth Witness: Amanda Holland

Employed at a real estate management company. She is an administrative assistant to Andrew Smith.

She knows Jennifer Crumbley but not James Crumbley. She was across the hall from Jennifer's office. They were not friends. They were friendly co-workers. Never socialized outside the office. They interacted on a daily basis at work.

They did share about personal lives, but Jen shared more. Jen told her about marital issues. Jen did talk about James by name. 2021 is when it came up. There would be loud phone calls occassionally. The door would be kept open sometimes.

Jen told her both Jen and James had been seeing other people. Jen wasn't happy about it at first, and then it seemed like it wasn't an issue. They had separated for a moment, but then they got back together. Separated in 2021. They didn't separate households.

Jen spoke about an extramarital affair. She didn't tell Amanda who it was. She told Amanda after that she saw this man. Jennifer wasn't at work in the morning, Jennifer mentioned errands, and then she saw someone that morning. The man would pick her up and they would go across the street from the office to Costco.

She didn't talk abou ther son often, but she did talk about the horses. They would go there after work, and how she purchased a new horse. Also, a lot of yard work and house work.

Ethan overheard fights.

Amanda and Jen are friends on facebook. They never talked about guns. On November 30 she did see the post about the gun for Ethan's christmas present.

On Nov. 29 she got a message from the school, didn't go, didn't seem concerned. Her demeanor was normal and calm. SHe didn't say what she would do about the message.

Jen would say her son was quiet. Amanda gathered he was quiet and reserved. Jen mentioned he had a difficult time when his friend went away. Jen was concerned he would be lonely as that was his only friend.

Jen would tell her that she was going to the barn. Amanda thinks that Jen went almost daily.

Jen took a phone call about her son on Nov. 30. The first call was from the school, there was an issue at school. She then called James. She asked him to go to the school to check on the situation.

The writings on the worksheet was scary that Ethan would draw that. Jen agreed.

Amanda said that she felt that Jen was sarcastic when she said she was a failure. Amanda said she should have brought Ethan home.

[I Missed some because of my kids]

Jen didn't tell her if they took Ethan to the casino.

DEFENSE FOR JEN

There were conversations aboutlots of different topics, not just about Jennifer's marriage. Jen wasn't giving Amanda a play by play as to what was going on.

Amanda only knows that there was a message from the school, not the context of the message. The message on the 29th.

Amanda wasn't aware of extracurriular activities, Ethan being a referee, not of the summer classes. She never met Ethan in person. KNowledge is limited as to what Jen told her.

It was almost everyday that Jen said she was going to the barn after work. Other than that, Amanda didn't know what else she was doing at night and on the weekend. She did see Jen's facebook page where they went camping and on trips.

Spoke to Jennifer briefly on the 30th. She heard a phone call from James about a school shooter. This was Amanda's first knowledge of the shooting at Oxford. Jen showed Amanda the photo on the 30th.

Jennifer seemed concerned about the drawing. Jen told her that the Crumbleys left Ethan at school. Amanda was not aware that the school told Jennifer that Ethan was not a threat to anyone.

Defense is asking Amanda how old her child is because Amanda said that she would have taken a child home.

Amanda didn't call the school about the drawing; Amanda didn't do anything other than saying she would have taken her son home.

Amanda didn't know a school shooting was going to take place just from that paper.

Jen told her that the School wasnted Ethan in counseling. They didn't discuss it further as to whether or not Jen would get counseling.

[My mom called me while Amanda was testifying]

I missed redirect and whatever argument happened after.

Thanks for all of this. I'm going to catch up on it later. Thank you!

@Kristin Esq. Thanks for your outstanding work posting today's hearing.

Big DITTO from me. The prosecutor is a very fast talker, so it's easy to miss parts. (I'm sort of half listening in one ear while doing other work, lol).

FYI: Where you see "six hour" in Kristin's wonderful transcription, substitute "Sig Sauer." It's the brand of the handgun in question:)

JC's hands are cuffed, she would not be able to wipe her eyes or nose by herself, it would be odd if her attorney had not done this.
Oh, that makes sense. I cannot see video where I am. Thanks for the explanation.

On another note, I have had horses since the late 90's. The care of them, even when boarded, is time consuming and the lifestyle is absorbing. I am fortunate in that is something that my daughter and I did, and still do, together. We were not the only parent - child, children combo hanging at the barn. I write this to support that the parents were not unusual in the time that they spent doing this. I don't know people, however, that lived this way to the exclusion of their children who require even more time and care.
FWIW.

EC: Shoot that sunday?

- Nah, I do but its just kind of hard for me to ask right now.
EC: okay.
Response: sorry.
EC: it's okay.

Attachment of a video - Exhibit 31
Response: "niiice" Now pull the trigger, jk jk jk jk

EC: My dad left it out so I thought, why not LoL
EC: I cave, I know gun safety so it's no problem

Text messages about killing baby birds, kidnapping and harming other classmates.

On his web searching history, he visisted a specific a website 421 times. he was searching graphic content dealt with other school shootings specifically people in florida being killed. James Crumbley owned the phone, he was on the account and paid the bill.

There were other guns in the home: 22 caliber and a small darringer.

DEFENSE FOR JEN

Go back to Exhibit 29:
If messages are deleted, sometimes those will not come up in the extraction.

She handed him a stack of documents of the text messages between EC an friend.

The messages in Exhibit 29 did not print/aren't there when defense counsel printed from Celebrex.

Defense is asking the court to adjourn to figure out why there are text messages missing when she printed out the Celebrex report. Detective pointed out that the file path is different from what the prosecutor gave him and what defense counsel gave him.

Approaching the bench.

Court is in Recess.

My bad!!! I know NOTHING about guns.

JC's hands are cuffed, she would not be able to wipe her eyes or nose by herself, it would be odd if her attorney had not done this.
Actually, Jc was shown on video just afterwards, adjusting the glasses on her nose, and pulling her mask up to cover her nose for once. Her restraint chain is not so short that she could not wipe her own eyes with a tissue. I found her particular timing to cry, when listening to the recording of her husband trying to alert the police that his son's gun was missing from home, and his son was at school.

I apologize for all spelling errors or other errors and anything I missed!

I'm a retired teacher of English. Normally I scream internally when I see spelling errors; it's an occupational hazard remnant.

What I see in your transcripts, @Kristin Esq. , is a very diligent and tireless person who's dedicated the day to giving us this information. It must have been difficult to keep up, and in this case I see any errors as a badge of honor. Thank you for what you've provided.

I hope your son is feeling well.

I'm hearing plenty of testimony indicating that these parents knew their son had been experiencing some serious mental heath issues for quite some time, yet purchased a gun for their son as a xmas present.
