Police are trying to get new search warrants for this case, thank goodness! I really, really want multiple people/groups to be held accountable for what happened to Carl. There are people working to change the Guardianship system in Missouri now. It's too late for Carl, but maybe his death won't be in vain.

Heartbroken by this case. I have great friends who have a son who faces even more challenges than Carl did, and lives in a similar setting. I can't imagine that sweet man being treated the way Carl was, and it makes me furious that Carl was apparently betrayed by those with the responsibility to help him thrive to the best of his ability. Hoping for arrests soon.

I find it hard to believe that Carl's case is the only one that has fallen through the cracks. Why or how would a case manager only select one client to not perform these face to face visits?

With these reports obviously falsified I would think it would be a Federal offense on it's own.

There will be a special report beginning tonight about the Carl DeBrodie investigation. I am just amazed that this story has not garnered more attention and outrage as the State has further cut funds from the budget that helps oversee these agencies. I guess it's just not sexy enough compared to other stories. Talk about insult to injury.

As promised:

The Case of Carl DeBrodie: The Investigation Part one of a three-part series

http://www.abc17news.com/news/the-case-of-carl-debrodie-the-investigation/577159965

This first segment is a good start to let authorities know somebody better come up with some answers.

Thanks for sharing this, jggordo. I'm pleased to see this station continuing to cover Carl's case. Not only is it important that justice be served for Carl and his family, but all facts of the case brought to light and the public learn exactly what happened, IMO. Whatever happened to Carl and his family could happen to any of us.

According to the report, the name of the owner of Second Chance Homes, the Independent Supported Living facility where Carl lived prior to his disappearance, has not been mentioned in the (criminal, I assume) investigation to this point.

This makes me wonder if the investigators are of the belief that she was completely unaware (even though as the owner of such facility, she should have noticed that Carl was missing, IMO) of what was done to him. Maybe she only provided financial backing, and was never involved in the day-to-day operation of the facility, and she cannot be held responsible for his death, at least criminally?

If so then, are the actual caretakers -those described as 'people working in the home day in and day out' in the report- the only ones possibly responsible for Carl's death, or at least concealment of his body (we do not know yet if hidvdeath was the result of someone intentionally harming him or due to neglect, but we do know he did not put himself in the storage unit, inside a concrete-filled container and a crate)? Or were there others, such as his court-appointed legal guardian -Callaway County public administrator Karen Digh- or his case manager, who knew what happened to him, but chose to do nothing, or even helped disappear Carl (e.g., renting the storage unit, forging and approving reports to make it look as though he was doing just fine, and agreeing amongst each other that they would report him missing as soon as anyone became suspicious) because they were afraid of what might happen to them -or really, their job and status in the community- if anyone was to discover what actually happened to Carl?

Sorry for the lengthy post. I'm just really angered and also deeply disturbed by this case.
