The worst mass killer in US history was a cheapskate who sought out cut-rate meal deals at a retirees center, according to a report.

http://nypost.com/2017/10/06/vegas-shooter-haunted-senior-center-looking-for-cheap-meals/

“He last came into the center around 11 a.m. last Thursday and checked in at the desk, but didn’t stop for lunch like he usually does,” he said.

“Instead, he went straight up to the counter to speak with the cook and asked her about an enchiladas dish she cooks — he wanted to know how she made it,” Meland told the outlet.

A retired construction worker described him as “introverted.”

“He’d come in on and off, sometimes up to three times a week,” David Blake, 81, told the site.

“He’s been coming in at least a year and when I first saw him, I thought he was a homeless person, he was unshaven, disheveled, quiet — he wasn’t a big conversationalist,” he said.

We have been to Vegas 5-6 times over the years. I remember years ago guys on the strip flipping cards at you advertising "girls". Did not see that on subsequent trips. Have seen several times trucks flying up and down the strip advertising "girls". I kept thinking do they have them in the back of that truck due to their size. My point being "girls" seem to be part of Vegas and is it not legal in Vegas? or is that just the "bunny ranches" one can visit? Our Son was married at Mandalay Bay a year and a half ago. Staff were wonderful there and we walked the whole perimeter for wedding pics. Makes me sad such horror took place. CNN is doing a tribute tonight to all victims (9 p.m. EST) As it should be.

It's not legal in Clark County. It's only legal in specifically licensed brothels in rural areas of Nevada. In researching this, I've also found articles and forum posts about casinos and LVPD really trying to clean up the prostitution scene.

It is getting a little crazy now with all the stories out in internet land isnt it.

Anybody in the world that ever cross paths with this person is coming out of the woodwork. His girlfriend's sister's Ex somehow knows he accepted free prostitutes. Ok. :)

Pretty soon his preschool classmate will come forward to say he went to preschool with him and remembers him acting strange during playtime breaks LOL :)

-And the classmates cousins and uncle. Geeez!

I agree. Until I saw the news about the bump stocks and watched a video of how they worked I had never heard of this fairly simple way to make a semi automatic behave like a fully automatic.

I am still shocked that such a simple modification apparently does the trick.

I am further surprised that previous legislation deemed these devices to be ok to own in some states.

One article I read did say that this method is rather crude because it relies on the user to keep the rhythm going and so jamming of shells could be more common with this method. Which is probably why the shooter had so many weapons ready to go. As soon as one jammed he probably just threw it down and grabbed the next one which he had ready.

Thank you for the information.

I also heard an ex-FBI agent say even if they ban the bump stocks/slides one can be made within minutes on a 3D computer/printer so bad guys are always going to find a way around any enacted bans or gun laws just like they always have done. :(

RSBM

This implies he was going back and forth from the hotel to his house, if we are to believe the 9/25 start date at the hotel, and the 9/27 date on the room service receipt.

Rubber bands were used before bump stocks. This isn't anything relatively new, nor something easily preventable with legislation.

-What do you mean? Do you have a link for a full explanation?

No. I heard it from some friends. The papers need money and do not and cannot keep govomg their content away for free.

I have tried to access some small local papers that have been linked, but thee is a paywall. Same with the Washington Post, WallStreet Journal and New York Times.

I'm guessing SWAT kicked it away from his body when they entered the room. Although clearly deceased from the blood coming out of his mouth they probably don't take any chances.

-Many post ago: SP shot himself in the mouth with a silver and black-handled revolver.

My hubby and I were talking about why he did it. Hubby feels the name should not be published. He thinks it was done to get it in the record for the most kills.

Cheapskate and a casino high roller. Do frugal people go into the casino at all? He sure must have enjoyed the casino comps.
Something about this guys finances bothers me.

I am not the poster you questioned but I do believe it is going to become harder and harder for us to access many news site artlices online due to them now wanting people to subscribe in order to read what they have printed. If I click on any link requiring a subscription to read I simply do not so therefore I don't get to read the entire article. There are many others who do not demand payment to read their articles online. So I search for the same information mentioned, and find the same information from another news site or cable news channel.

I have already run into this problem several times concerning articles which have been linked here about this case. Some of them I would never join even if it was free, nor would I normally ever read them in the first place, and certainly wouldn't pay to read their online articles. Many such media have had to do this because their newspapers are majorly falling with the amount of people willing to buy their newspapers now.

I apologize if this has been discussed already. I saw this morning that the note left in the suite had a series of numbers written on it. I wonder what that is all about? Any ideas? A coded message of some sort perhaps? I know that some mentally ill people have left behind number messages that probably meant something to them but are just gibberish to others.

I had heard it on CNN this a.m. it will be interesting to see what exactly he wrote down. Being a numbers guy It must have some meaning to him. IMO

I dont think any of us know. All we know at this time is the Sheriff said it was not a suicide note.
