  • While law enforcement officials believe Burham is still in the general area, they are also urging people nationwide to familiarize themselves with his photo and be on the alert.
  • Authorities are also working to collect possible DNA evidence from supplies or locations they believe may be connected to Burham.
  • Helicopters, drones and infrared technology are all being used to scour some 500,000 acres of the Allegheny National Forest which is thick with foliage, rivers and streams.
  • Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police earlier said campsites and small stockpiles believed to be related to escapee Michael Burham had been found, and he said Tuesday that searchers “are still finding some items that we do believe are connected to him.
  • “Literally, I would say that Burham saw red and blue lights within two minutes of leaving that jail. They were that close,” he said. Correction officers were in the parking lot within two minutes, he added, saying “the response time couldn’t have been any quicker.”
  • “We continue to find items. Those lead me to believe that there still a likelihood that he is here,” he told reporters, without providing details. Some of those items have been found in the past 24 hours, he said. “I also look at the absence of proof that he has gone anywhere else.”
  • Investigators have used rapid DNA tests at cabins and other sites where break-ins have occurred but none have been matched to Burham – although some results are pending, according to Bivens.

Kala's mother said she found out about the escape from her grandson (Kala's son) vs. the police. She thought he was having a nightmare. She also said that police searched her house and the children are in protective custody.

Well, I certainly do not believe that Cuomo was at his best in this interview. IMO, he could have used better approaches and questions to keep this woman comfortable, and communicative.

So, the car fire was another ex girlfriend.
Ann feels that Kala and Michael were communicating well enough... though there was the ongoing custody issues regarding the Michael's daughter. How could he even think about custody? And didn't Ann indicate that the daughter was not even aware that Michael was her dad?
I hope someone else can try to interpret..... guess I am just trying to better understand his motives, and was made him go off his rocker.................

He seems very tricky...sure as h hope he does not figure out where his daughter is.

Maybe an odd idea, but what about a temporary 'microchip' for prisoners ?
Our rescue fluffy (cat) is chipped so we can find him if he gets out of the house.

Hope this dangerous perp is found soon !
Sounds like a real winner who should have been in maximum lockdown for the viciousness and heinousness of his crimes.
At the bond of a million, he should have been watched constantly or kept shackled at all times.

Hopefully no one else is hurt by this perp whilst he's on the loose ?

Rest in peace to the victim, Kala Hodgkin !
He is the main suspect but not charged yet.
Makes one wonder if there are any more deaths that haven't yet been linked to this man ?

I used to question why 'honor' the perp by stating his full name (Michael Charles Burham) ?
However, my thoughts now-- are that this is not at all an acknowledgment , but rather an identifying factor.
There may very well be other people named Michael Burham, and it's to isolate and i.d. this particular man as the perp they're looking for.
Only my opinion.

Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police told reporters Wednesday afternoon that the drone was heard by a couple of people - although he didn't know whether it was seen - "immediately adjacent to the jail" just before the escape. Surveillance video did not capture any drone, he said.

"I'm not a big believer in coincidences," he said. "There could be a perfectly innocent and reasonable explanation. ... If there's not an innocent explanation, perhaps that assists us in finding him and also finding anyone providing aid."

Bivens also said recent information has made him increasingly worried that Burham is armed. He did not give further details.

At a news conference Wednesday in Warren, Lt. Col. George Bivens, deputy commissioner of operations for the Pennsylvania State Police, said reports of the drone came from multiple interviews of people who say they heard a drone immediately adjacent to the county prison just prior to Burham's escape. Bivens said he did not personally conduct the interviews and could not confirm whether any of the individuals saw the drone. He added that no surveillance footage captured the drone.

When asked about the accusations against her ex-boyfriend, she says she couldn’t fathom that he would do something like that.

“I couldn’t believe that the Mike I knew did that,” Hensley-Sieber said in an extensive Zoom interview. “I think he has the upper hand. He has the knowledge he needs to evade any sort of tracking. He knows how to get rid of his scent and go through the water. He knows how to make diversion trails.”

She says he comes from a family of lumberjacks and that they were always hiking and working in the hills of Northern Pennsylvania. His father and brother worked alongside Burham in a logging company. Hensley-Sieber called Burham’s family good people.

Hensley-Sieber says he had a longtime job at Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant and before that, he entered the military as a water purification specialist and land navigation expert. She says he completed both basic and advanced training in the military. He then was in the reserves.

Hensley-Sieber says Burham was on the chess and math teams in school, even an expert at strategy games.

“He was looking at the ceiling. He was looking at every nail on the wall. He was paying attention to the guards. He’s actually really good at reading people,” Hensley-Sieber told News 4.

Pennsylvania State Police believes Burham is receiving help. Hensley-Sieber disputes that claim saying she doesn’t think he has anyone to turn to now.

Interesting interview with MB's ex-girlfriend. She offers some good insights into his skill set. He sounds quite crafty and resourceful. I wonderful what in the world turned him into such a violent criminal?
It is a small jail. Doesn't really qualify as a 'prison' as we usually think of. A prisoner like Burham could be moved to a larger state facility/prison.

Awh yes, he would be moved to a more secure facility after his trial, if he were to be found guilty. At this point, he is still the alleged offender.

Even Kala's mother said "she got along with Micheal fine".
I don't think he had the motive to hurt and kill her.

People are saying he is sharp, planful, very deliberate. I think he had a royal snap.

oh my goodness....moo.

I don't know, every article I've read about this with the quotes of "I am shocked" "its so unlike him" then goes on to describe behaviour that seems pretty in line with someone who is actually exactly like this.

He's evaded police multiple times, routinely drove drunk, and partied all night leaving himself an hour before work, along with being described as unstable, and violent. so....how is he "not like this" exactly?

The former inmate, who asked to remain anonymous over concerns of retaliation, served eight months at the Pennsylvania prison last year.

He told NewsNation that based on his experience at the jail, it’s almost impossible for Burham to collect and store blankets without someone noticing.

“I feel like it was given to him. I feel that it had to have been an inside job,” the former inmate said. “I’m not a worker and I can’t honestly say I know for a fact, but I can tell you you’re limited to supplies. You’re limited to certain things.”

"Everything associated with the yard, and the people inside, and how they’re observed is going to be reviewed and potentially changed," he said. The exercise equipment is being replaced with equipment "that doesn’t provide access to higher elevations," commissioners said in a statement, and officials were also going to review prisoner access to materials, such as the sheets used to make a rope, once the criminal investigation is completed, Eggleston said.

"Every element of their life in the jail is being evaluated and we’ll potentially change policy," he said. Commissioners had already agreed to allocate money to increase security on the rooftop complex so that "no one’s ever going to even think to try to climb out of there ever again."

The commission’s vice chair, Benjamin Kafferlin, said the county’s "rigorous internal investigation" would include a review of "every second" of video surveillance and interviews with people both inside or outside the jail.

Documents filed in the federal court case against escaped inmate Michael Burham, show he was familiar with Warren, Pennsylvania, before he escaped from the Warren County Jail last week.
