Ok, let me get this straight - expert didn't use JA's words because she lies. Used VERY restricted emails (and I'm very sure she hasn't seen anything about the Hugheses change of heart and fear of JA), and NOW Travis is the sociopath? Did the earth's axis just tilt?????

If cross ever gets started, I hope Juan tests Dr. Fonseca to see if she will answer a question truthfully and calmly, like most expert witnesses do. If so, he doesn't need to rough her up. If she pulls an ALV, go for the jugular, Juan!

I believe ALV's cross was what helped to get Jodi convicted. The jury could clearly see she was a biased witness who obviously bonded with JA during her hours of conversation with her.

I can't wait. I know Nurmi will drag this out and I'm hoping JSS tells him to move on. She needs to use some of her newly-found courage.

Also, IIRC, in the discussion of the secret witness, it seems that there are a total of 3 witnesses for the defense. Fonseca is one, the "mystery" witness, and one other. I'm wondering if the other one is a psychologist or psychiatrist who will have met and possibly tested JA to show that, although she knows right from wrong, she is mentally ill. It was one of the mitigators on the defense list.

The unbelievable lack of integrity/conscience from a mental health professional. I can't get over it. And at least flaky LaViolette was blatantly clear about her agenda. This is more insidious. I'm actually shocked.

Well, honestly, we all did wonder where the DT would find someone to spin their twisted theories. Now we know - same tainted pool. Still, I'm floored and sickened.

I learned a lot in the last couple days. First, that an "expert" is nothing more than a PAID liar for whoever they are testifying for. Shameful. They follow their script. Experts, as they want to call themselves, should be banned from trials. Just lay everything out for the jurors and let them decide. This form of justice is insane. Also as I said yesterday, in this day and time when everyone is texting and sexting and emailing, please if you want to advise a friend over your concerns, do it in person. The Hughes did not do their friend any favors. Good intentions aren't helpful right now. We can do nothing about it but maybe someone can learn from this. I also wish my mother would have used a wooden spoon to correct me, while at the same time driving a car and leaning over the seat. Oh yeah, that would have been traumatizing alright. But my mother gave me her full attention at home as she whipped me with a belt. And I deserved it too! But you know what? I obeyed her after that. It only took once and she is the best mom who ever lived. She just turned 96. So for these crackpot psychologists who claim parents are abusing children by giving them a whipping I just call them bogus. I cannot wait for Juan to rip them all to shreds. Take no prisoners!

Travis is being portrayed by Nurmi & Fonseca as an abuser but DeMarte found that Arias harbored & displayed "inappropriate, intense anger". Do you think Arias projects much? Uses it to build her picture of her victim? Acts out on this intense, inappropriate anger? Hides her rage behind the Mona Lisa smile that kcl reported? If you answer yes to any of these queries, you are at the lunch party we are having in our recovery room.

The first thing you learn in studying linguistics is that every person has their own language. No two people speak the same exact language, including interpretations and meaning.

For a woman for whom English is a second language, interpreting what the Hughes, Travis, and Jodi say in e-mails is like taking pot shots.

Two people say that they need to go to the store.

Person #1 is out of toilet paper.
Person #2 is addicted to shopping and needs a fix.

While a simplistic example, it shows that without delving into each person's meaning of words and their background, you can't analyze the meaning of what they say.

So so true! I've taken tons of communication classes, and the hardest format to "read" as to tone/meaning, is the written word. It's nearly impossible to interpret intent if you're not intimately familiar with the sender (messenger). Heck, I still sometimes have to clarify meanings from my closest friends and family. This woman has no idea what was behind the nuances of Travis' words.
