Never in a million years would I have thought a married couple would have been involved. Kudos to LE for such quick action! Now all the questions. Who were these people and what on earth could have been their motive?

Authorities are planning a 10 a.m. press conference at a St. Johnsbury motel to announce the developments in a crime that shocked people who knew Jenkins and residents of the small community in the southern end of the Northeast Kingdom.

Police executed a search warrant last night at the Prue residence on 91 Old County Road in Waterford at about 8 p.m. last night. The Record reports that the home was designated a crime scene and that vehicles were towed from the scene.

Allen Prue, 30, and his wife, Patricia Prue, 33, were taken into custody late Tuesday night in connection with the death of Melissa Jenkins. They are scheduled to be arraigned at 11 a.m. at the Vermont Superior Court in St. Johnsbury.

thanks, this helps. i'm trying but there are more prue's than evergreens in that part of vermont.

my guess is they weren't strangers...the jenkins' have quite a clan on their family farm and surrounding property too. given the demographics of the area, she being a waitress and allen being a snowplow operator, one would think their paths or at least those of their relatives' have crossed many times...jmo...

ETA: i wouldn't think their paths had crossed with their other occupations, her being a private school teacher and his recent employment as a newspaper courier, not on her route...
