I think he says it that way because the car was not owned by Casey..she is not the Title Holder or Registered Owner of the vehicle
Both or one of her parents are....it's a family car..Lee had it first and then it was passed onto to Casey to use, she had possession of it..she drove it.

JB is also impeaching his own argument about cadaver dogs - if he is saying they are unreliable then he can't use them to prove there was no body on Suburban because they didn't alert there. He can't have it both ways.
