JB wants to put the poor cadaver dogs feet to the fire.
He must think it's more junk science.

  • #662
JB 'believes' his expert is from GA. Oh, wait, he's from Alabama.

  • #663
ok. every time JB says "quite frankly," everyone take a drink. we should be drunk in 15 min :-)

  • #664
The judge is just beside himself about the dog expert and JB.

thank heavens the defense is asking to bring an expert to debunk the cadaver dog testimony/ i.e. the scientific reliability of cadaver dogs being used to identify human decomposition. I've always had questions about that. No criticism of the dogs, my problem is with the fact that it's so subjective, so many layers of human interpretation and potential human influence are involved IMO. Baez mentions the expert will discuss how cadaver dogs can identify other chemicals as human decomp (other than those actually present in human decomp).

Can anybody tell me WHY are all these experts from out of state???? Aren't there any experts in FL?

  • #667
omg.. I bet this dog expert went to my alma mater - Auburn. A highly respected vet school.

Yuppers, they know the car had a dead body in it so they are going to claim it was someone else in the family, George, Cindy or Lee. The bus is headed straight for one of them.

Yes, as I said earlier I now have an idea as to where the defense was headed with some of their motions and really, truly have a sense that they are all going to be thrown under the bus one way or another! I hope that GA and CA are fully aware of what's coming their way! I don't even see them in their usua; court spot today.

Just HOW MANY times has Judge Perry asked Baez "Just where is this expert from?" PLENTY
Baez should realize by now to just tell the Judge where the expert if from without having to be asked every time.

OT... it annoys the crap outta me that Baez doesn't have the common courtesy to step aside when the JAC comes to the podium to speak. He makes the JAC lean over him in order to speak. :banghead:

IMO, he is ignorant and inconsiderate and his manners indicate he was raised in a barn (as my mommy would say).

Judge:Has this dog handler testified before?
B: Yes- not in this case.
Judge: I KNOW not in this case... (duh)

  • #672
What does the 'with' or 'without prejudice' mean?

'With prejudice' means it is his final decision on the matter, IIRC. He won't hear it again-Does not mean the defense won't bring it up later, as in appeal time.

JP asks State if they have anything to say. State says this should have already been done.

  • #674
Baez certainly struggles to get to the point.

He certainly does....and in the process, bores me to tears.

He reminds me so much of Geragos, but at least Geragos was entertaining at times.

ETA: I have several friends right here in the State of Florida that have YEARS of K-9 experience. I'm sure they would step up, but the defense may not like what they have to add to the case.

I love the expressions on JP's face. LOL

Can anybody tell me WHY are all these experts from out of state???? Aren't there any experts in FL?

Listening to Baez, there are only a few, and the state has already snagged them all. :waitasec:

Next--Public records requests

State says they are using canine handlers.

JP asking what exactly will this expert be doing. JB disputes states's position that there was scent of decomp in car. JB questioning dog's training. The canines are a contentious issue and very unreliable and overreaching, that an expert is essential.
Listing their experts credentials now and respected in the 'dog' community.

JP still questioning it.
JB says expert will analyze training etc, the handler's training, procedures that were employed, error rates.

JP asking where expert is from, JB says Alabama.
JP asks if this expert has testified before. JB says yes.

JP asking state for any comments, LDB says this work should already been done so they should only be asking for a certai amount of hours. JB says this should be resolved in the pre trial on how much evidence the state can use with regard to the canines.
JP asking JAC now. JAC defers to court, but wants to severely limit time spent since work mostly done in this area.
JB says 20 hours needed.
JP grants it for 20 hours.

Next: PUblic records requests.

Camera focusing in on Mason right now - the poor guy looks defeated AND deflated. :floorlaugh:

IMO Mr Mason should have stuck with his first plan and chosen a happy and stress free Retirement
