Okay so Casey will now have a reasonable defense. So we can all sleep soundly...also because Judge Perry rocks and will not leave any crumbs or issues for appeals later on down the road!

ITA, and I hope that horse turns Baez's face many colors when it kicks him! That's how I see him learning what that means.

Go on defense, keep digging yourself in deeper. I'm just going to get more popcorn, prop my feet up, and enjoy the show! NEXT!

Aedrys I'll be right there with ya! :)

Obviously you've never had your child kidnapped by the invisible Zanny Nanny. Just what is a grieving mother vomiting in toilets and grinding her hips in Fusion supposed to look like???!!!!ELEVENTY!!!

Okay I get it now...in the middle of watching the hearing from today. So H Lee was pro bono until the state stepped in to pay..tricky! That is what JB did IMO. He knew she was going to be indigent so he told HL "hold your pants on, the pot of gold is coming"..this is such carp!

Just wanted to say that I made it all the way through these 46 pages in one night. What a day you all had. Thanks for putting it out there for us.

Nothing in your post has a thing to do with the question at hand. Nothing of Lee asking for State funds has a single, solitary thing to do with "Casey getting a fair trial". Or, are you insinuating that Lee would only be fair and honest if he were getting paid? ;) No, that can't be it, because he wasn't working pro bono in the case that he was proven to be, and declared by the presiding Judge to be deceitful and not forthcoming.

FYI, the question that you responded to up-thread, (just a few short posts up, no less), pertained to Henry Lee giving his word that he would work pro bono, and then suddenly changing his tune and begging for State funds.

It seems that too many in our society need to familiarize themselves with the words "self-respect", "honoring ones own given word", and "self-dignity".

Henry Lee is representative of none of those character assets since his fingernail fiasco, and he repeats his own shameful character reflection again in this case by not standing as a man upon his own given word.

Can anybody tell me WHY are all these experts from out of state???? Aren't there any experts in FL?

So Baez can hide and funnel money thru them outside the jurisdiction of a Florida Judge/Court.

Don't forget all the while, they were enjoying a high on high levels of chloroform in which kills humans for some reason but does not kill flies or maggots. IMO

Zero degrees in a freezer for a week kills humans, too, but doesn't seem to kill flies, either. I don't know about maggots. Life can be strange sometimes.

(Re: Baez using out-of-state experts)

You took the words right out of my mouth!! My hubby's office (full of experienced and well-respected attorneys) had the same idea. IMO (and in the opinion of MANY OTHERS) has a sneaky, less-than-truthful reputation. The fact that Henry Lee is one of his experts does not surprise me at all. Among legal circles, Henry Lee's name is MUD after the Spector trial. Read it and weep, Casey lovers.

I wish I could clarify. I have asked in the chemist thread how this is that these high levels of chloroform kill humans but not flies. No answer from any of them. So, no I can not clarify. thanks

Are you sure the level of chloroform in the trunk was high enough to kill? While the report read higher than usual concentrations and parts per million instead of parts per trillion (paraphrasing), I don't recall reading or hearing anywhere the levels of chloroform found in the trunk were deadly.

Thanks, that was an awesome answer. Lol , but prolly wouldn't "fly" in court if ya know what I mean. pardon the pun.

No I am not sure at all. As a matter of fact there is controversy surrounding the subject with emails. I personally have no faith in the air sample at this point. Moo

I watched the hearing but am no good at posting and listening at the same time so I have a couple of after thoughts I would like to ask others their opinions of.

First the way JP keep bringing up that this being a DP case when he agreed to things. During the first hearing I thought he brought up the DP so much as he was trying to stress the seriousness of the charges to KC but today I got a different impression. Today I got the impression that he was almost admonishing the SA for seeking the DP on this case each time he said it.

Second when they was discussing the need for a cell phone expert and the pings. It almost sounded like JP was saying that testimony may not even be permissible as you couldn't prove who was in possession of the phone.

Please tell me I am wrong on both accounts and that it was just me today after trying to watch such a long hearing with only a little sleep last night.

Nah, I just got the impression that he makes sure to note that, in his rulings, he is applying the law in a particular way, in part because of the nature of the charges and punishment-Note that unlike Judge S., Judge Perry voices his determinations and how he arrived at those determinations legally-Judge S. surely used the same laws in his application, but was not big on walking us through his technical determination A-Z...
Much like in a Supreme Court justice's written determination/dissent, Judge Perry is very detailed in outlining not only the case or constitutional law he is applying, but also notes the circumstances at hand so there is relativity on the record.
It's late, snooze, hope that makes sense.....

Maybe you'd feel differently if you lived in Florida and it was your tax dollars paying for it. The ones that YOU work for.

I would agree. As a single mom who works full time and takes good care of my child, it angers me very very much. I know it's how our system works, but the fact that this woman sold pictures of her dead child, got $200,000 for them (which of course she would have never got if she hadn't killed her child), managed to blow through her money and is now asking my fellow Floridians and myself to pay for her lawyers' fishing expedition, really pisses me off. They knew she was indigent from the beginning, why not take that into consideration when retaining these out of state experts? If you know you may have to file for indigent status in the future, why not keep better records of the work done and money spent, out of respect for the taxpayer who will be possibly funding your future defense?

Is their strategy here to make people hate Casey and her lawyers even MORE, so that they can then appeal her conviction? I just don't get what these people are thinking.

Not really. I believe in the fair trial system. The state has a lot of resources. The only way to make it fair is for the defense to have a lot of resources. I enjoy my rights do not wish to give them up for anyone. Anybody is welcome to write their representative and ask to have the system changed. I don't think many in this country would agree to give up their rights. Including their right to a fair trial. IMO

Which right would you be giving up exactly? I don't understand what you're talking about... If the implication is that one can't get a fair trial without ridiculously high profile 'experts'...that's unsupportable.

Why would this outstanding judge allow the good taxpayers of Florida to pay dr. HL, if his expert opinion on anything is automatically impeachable? Also, why haven’t all the other lawyers involved in all the cases dr. HL was involved in filed appeals in their cases? And why would this judge not allow a trace evidence expert, stating that dr. HL is imminently capable of handling the trace evidence? Evidently Judge Perry does not share the opinion that dr. HL is MUD. IMHO

I think he was indeed working pro bono. I saw that Ng episode. But now the state is willing to pay. Heck why not? There are many companies in this nation that will give you free just what they think is needed until you need them. Many Lawyers around here give a free half hour consultation. Some customers need to see it first. Nothing wrong with any of that in my opinion.

Why not? Because it's a waste of tax money and utterly disrespectful to working people. It illustrates the lack of organization of the defense. H. Lee took a 6 month lunch break and now he wants money from the public trough??She had 300k at her disposal and it should have come out of that. Especially after Mason and his crate of oranges statement. Thank heavens the JAC is there to keep an eye on these shenanigans.

I watched that = hilarious - Baez is not high on media interviews now - really quite the grouch - wonder why?

The "STATE" has his tongue!
In a backwards sort of way... :back:

The video was hilarious...
