I think it's safe to opine that Baez and Co. are not (for one reason or another) wanting to hand over those expert reports. And, I do believe they plan on challenging HHJP on that. Big NO-NO. As I said upthread, JB is heading towards having that $500 a day fine levied against him. Even after all that happened in the sanctions hearing, it seems as though Mr. Baez STILL does not take HHJP seriously. JB is going to end up with a permanent impression of HHJP's shoe on his, ahem... behind. JMO, of course!

What I am thinking (which other WS'ers have mentioned before, IIRC) is that JB knows full well what his expert witness' opinions are, but those opinions either (1) support the State's case, or (2) even if they do not support the State's case, they do nothing to support the defense's case, either. Again, JMO!

Oh, I agree. As the child of a man who would not pay child support and seeing my mother struggle financially - deadbeat parents that don't pay for their children is the lowest of the low. That right there tells me all I need to know about Baez and the contempt I feel for him knows no bounds.

I agree, especially with the last line.
I am the child of a father just like that...a man who spent his money on himself, bought expensive cars and jewelry for himself and his new wife and left his ex and kids to fend for themselves.

I got the impression that JB is challenging Judge Perry's authority to force the Defense to make their Experts write reports and give those reports and notes to the State within a certain time period. JB said today "we do not have to do that ... but now we do" ... and JB looked to Mason for confirmation and support (but got nothing but Mason's back).

Mason said in the last Hearing that there is NO law forcing the Defense to give info on their Expert opinions, short of a "script". He had said that before also.

I do believe there is something up their sleeve, to challenge the Judge's authority on the Expert opinions and reports.

That was my first thought as well. The big problem with that, however is that, under the laws in Florida, the defense has to turn over that information (judge's poker analogy) and they TWICE tried to thwart the judge's order.

They had two chances to turn in a relatively informal version and they didn't do it. Having willfully disobeyed a judge's order twice, I don't know how much sympathy they could garner in an appeals court. It could, however, force a delay in the trial, IMHO non-attorney opinion.

This judge is retired. I think CM was just testing the waters to see if he could get some support from the judge. Didn't work out that way. HHJP follows the law right down to the letter. jmo

Or even maybe he was fishing for pro bono attorneys/judges from the retired pool? If so, I would take walking out as a 'No way in H3ll!'

I think all these experts have already JB a verbal summary of what they are going to say. I think JB instructed them NOT to write reports.

As to the issues that JB talked about at today's hearing, I think he is frantically trying to figure out how many of his experts he can withdraw from the case and still have a semblance of a case left! I doubt he is going to call all of these people, and I would not be surprised to see him file a motion withdrawing a number of them from his witness list.

I agree! JB is bluffing big time on his poker hand and is not ready to be called on it, so he is playing for as much time as he possibly can.

JB has no Aces in his hand, only a bunch of Jokers.

Thank you CarolinaMoon.How many times can the defense change Judges? If they go by the book each will say the same.We all know hhJP has been more than lenient with this "group".

I just re-read what I posted and hope everyone understands I don't think this would be the judge they would expect to get... but he sure could give them advice on ways to impeach Perry based on his ruling on the sanctions.

I don't think he found anything, hence, his leaving in the middle of the hearing.

Mason was sure shocked.

I don't know how he ended up with a high profile client if he acts there the same way he does here.

I hope for his clients that he hasn't acted this way for the last 40 years or so.

Judge Eaton I believe was told by CM or JB to be in court on the pretense of advisement on their motions. I believe that Ret. Judge Eaton had no idea that Sanctions were on the docket. He left shortly after that, and I do believe that Judge Perry probably was informed he would be there in strictly as an advisor on a motion or two. Judge Perry however, saw through it and knew that CM and JB were trying to threaten the Judge with is presence. Judge Perry called their bluff!

That case was supposed to go to trial Oct 2010 but attorneys for sides agreed to delay it until the Fall of 2011...apparently the Defense has a lot of people to schedule for depositions...

As we have all been told repeatedly, anything you put on the "worldwide web" is there forever and is in the public domain. If it was there, he could get a computer or internet expert to find what he is looking for, right? Come on JB. Do something useful.

This bugs me too ... How many dollars have been spent on "investigating" anyway? Perhaps he should have put a little of that money to better use and then he wouldn't have been caught with his pants down today in front of the judge AND the viewing public!
