JP: talking about previous cases that had venue changes & other high profile court cases. He says in his 31 yrs he has never seen a case that has garnered this much publicity as this case. . Now talking about the legal analysts of tv stations.
Says this court has a duty to make sure that the defendant in this case has a right to a fair trial.

While I could listen to HHJP talk all day and all night and enjoy it, I may have to disagree with one little point of his. I think the Bundy case got a lot of publicity, and if we'd had the internet as access back in that day we would have had just as much if not more media interest.

Of course, YMMV and it's just my small opinion.

HHBP: in my 31 years I have never seen a case that has garnered as much publicity . . .never seen in the history of this state. . . every local station has at least 1 legal analyst . . some have 2 . . . . requests from every media outlet known to man . . .
this court has a duty to see that the defendant has a right to a fair trial . . . every defendant is presumed innocent . . . because of pre-trial publicity . . . this court was forced to take away a right that every citizen has . . .to be tried by jury of their peers in the county in which the defendant resides . . . we will have to travel to another part of the state to find a jury ONE DAY . . .

I think he's really angry at the DT, not so much the media. The only problem is, he can't just berate the DT in court or they will accuse him of bias, so the poor media lawyer is getting the brunt of his disapproval when he wishes he could just direct it all at the DT. Well, and it would help if she were more prepared too. That is probably annoyed the heck out of it on top of everything else. He is on to the DT's game big time. JB must know it, or he wouldn't have said he disagreed with the media lawyer! I was surprised lightening didn't strike him when he said no!
