Poor little leprechauns, having to suffer for Bryan’s sake.
No worries, they don't exist, and they're riding shotgun in a partial car with BK's alibry and SOBDDIs, who similarly don't exist.

You don't believe in leprechauns? Oh my! I have to believe in them so they don't wreck havoc in my home to prove they exist!

All kidding aside...my Irish grandma believed in raising her grandchildren with lots of scary tales.

We're going to trial in August...that I firmly believe in!! Come on with the hammer already.

Re: DD. Also, many people specify contactless delivery. So maybe Xana specified for the delivery to be delivered that way. Super quick for the driver -- deliver the food, snap a pic, and leave. The DD app tracks the driver and alerts the recipient when the delivery is made. Xana maybe never even saw/interacted with the DD driver.

It was proclaimed recently (dateline episode I think) that Kaylee had been smashed in the face with something that broke her nose. This being "different wounds" from the others. I think she was still stabbed to death but the facial wounds were additional and IMO excessive and even more horrific (ETA not more horrific than stabbing her, more horrific than not smashing her in the face at all)
It was discussed whether he had punched her or used the butt of the knife
Steve Gonzalez confirmed that Kaylee was punched in the face—hard enough that she would have died from those injuries alone. Back in the beginning, when they said her wounds were different, many thought it was because she was the primary target. Later, we surmised that her wounds were different because she fought back causing the knife to move. SG confirmed that her liver was nearly stabbed all the way through. Someone was quoted as saying Ethan’s legs were “carved.” Someone had to be strong as heck to do such damage in so little time. I fear we will learn more horrific details. Just my opinion.

One of the questions I have is that if they saw Xana, wasn’t she covered in blood? Was she positioned in such a way that it was hidden? Did their minds block it out due to trauma? The subconscious is powerful and may have blocked part of the image out? That’s a question I would ask of the roommates.

BK, if guilty, made so many rookie mistakes that I wonder if he wanted to get caught—either consciously or subconsciously?

I don’t think there was a motive in the typical sense. I think he was enraged—mad at the world—and seeking a release and acted in a frenzied, brutal manner.

All is just my thoughts and questions.

Man, do I hope for a dash cam.

  • #226
I wish I knew and answer that question and whether they are required to have a dash cam. I've never used them either. Maybe there will be a DD driver on here who can answer that.
Sadly, we use them all the time since I don't cook and they're always in their personal vehicles without signage indicating they're from DD. Often there will be 2 people in the car but most times it's just one person.

Edited to add that I am obviously late and this has long been answered! Sorry!

I did DD for a short stint last Summer for a quick cash grab (never again!). DD drivers use their personal vehicle, so no signage, and dash cam is not required.

Specific instructions like "deliver to side/back door" are very common, but if you don't feel safe, you are not required to follow those instructions, and there is even a report feature for such instances.

It's possible this wasn't a first time 4 am delivery between this driver and that house, or even XK. For all we know, XK walked out of the house to gather the food, to spare the DDD the steep walk.

For all we know, XK was sitting outside, waiting for the delivery, a courtesy to her sleeping roommates. No knock, no bark. Who knows what XK would report if she hadn't been murdered.

Maybe she saw BK park. She might have assumed it was her arriving food order. And then saw the second car.

It will be satisfying to learn what the DDD testifies to, but boy oh boy, if she can place Bryan at that house, no wonder the State has kept a lid on this.

Bry, bry, Bryan.

No, they do not have signage on the vehicles. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a required dashcam. It’s just civilians picking up extra work.
If my student who delivers DoorDash is any indication, he probably hasn't cleaned the hatch of his SUV since his teammates did it looking for a lost shoe two years ago. He doesn't have a dash cam.

Not where I live and I think that's in general. My relative just uses her regular car; she got a dash cam because her adult children insisted. They're going through some hard economic times, the business she worked for, for years, closed down. At any rate, no signage. We use DD or Uber Eats and neither have signage on their cars.
Good to see you, 10ofRods. A dash cam is a good idea. It would be sweet if this driver had one.

Good to see you too! Looks like we're all gathering pre-trial here.

I am doubting that the driver had a dash cam (so many DD drivers are relatively poor) but trying to be hopeful. I think her testimony will help, even if she was on pain meds at the time as reported. Her doctor probably had her on a low dose so that she could continue to drive.

We know that the DD driver told the officer that she was taking hydrocodone, when she was stopped in late Feb, 2024, but we have nothing to indicate whether or not that she was in Nov, 2022. Regardless, like you, I believe that her testimony will be very helpful to the state, and I believe that Door Dash provided full extensive records for deliveries to 1122 King Road, which will help to corroborate her story, as will likely video from 1112 King Road cam, that caught BK's Elantra arriving and leaving. JMO

Police search warrant returns from DoorDash contain photographs, a list of deliveries to 1122 King Road that date back to 2019 and also a spreadsheet of communication between the person ordering the food and the DoorDash driver, the defense detailed in another filing. The food delivery company worked with detectives in the case since at least Nov. 23, 2022, court filings showed, and provided a response the day after to a search warrant from Dec. 6, 2022.

Throwing my 2 cent door dash story. I don't use it but since I work from home, my company sometimes sends meals through DD. Mine is usually contactless, has instructions that are usually followed, and the DD driver takes a picture of where the order was left. Notification for me comes by email. I get several, one when it leaves the business, one when it's going to be delivered "shortly", and one when it's been delivered and go get it. I understand from the account holder, she can see the driver location on a map. I had one instance where I happened to be out when it was delivered, and they asked if they could follow instructions and take a picture rather than hand it to me. No identification on the vehicle so as to not call attention in case someone wanted to mug them for food or tips (driver told me that). I didn't ask about a dashcam. They park on the street. Never in the driveway. And at my house can come from the front or side.

I would imagine there are some things standard (proof of delivery of some sort) and some variable depending on driver and location.

Btw, the bit about taking a picture before giving me a package happens for ANY delivery for me if I happen to be outside when it arrives except UPS. Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot,, Target,, Fedex all seem to require a picture where I live.

is there realistically any prospect of a plea, not for his sake but to save the surviving victims (and I include the potential DD driver in this as thr guilt must be overwhelming) and families the trauma of the trial?

IMO, that would depend on the families of the deceased. I do think the Goncalves family would prefer death, but I also think they would at least consider LWOP if the others felt strongly about getting information in return or wanting to just be done. 100% JMO.

I don't see a plea deal happening here. With the strength of the case that the state seems to have, they have no real need to offer one, and are probably more than happy to go through with the trial, and send him to a date with a firing squad. At this point, they have already done most of the work, and it has already cost the state millions of dollars. What are a few more? I do not see them offering a deal, and frankly, I don't see BK accepting one if they did. I feel certain that AT has floated the idea to him long before now. She is not a dummy. She knows he has no defense, but I think he is intent on sitting through every minute of this trial, getting his jollies, reliving the murders in every gory bit of testimony and every photo shown. He wouldn't miss it for the world. Except for the getting caught part, it was his crowning achievement. JMO

Agree completely.

IMO he absolutely didn’t want to get caught, and crafted what he presumed was a faultless plan.

We know how that turned out. DNA after his name rather than a Ph.D.

He didn’t get away with it, so now he laps up the notoriety.

Instead of an insignificant, overlooked nonentity, a cipher to the popular kids, he is now center stage, in the spotlight, everyone looking at him and wanting to know his thoughts.

One thing we've learned from mass shooters is that fame and notoriety are motives for killers. I have no doubt that BK has lots of twisted fantasies he was living out but he almost certainly wanted to be famous or notorious. Not that he wanted to be caught--he wanted to see the whole world (in his view) shocked at what he had done. For psychopathic types, all attention is good attention. He's going to be the star of this show, in his view.

Isn’t it annoying —no TERRIBLE—that BK gets anything he wants? Where is the justice?

Hopefully, it will be right in Judge Hippler’s courtroom, starting on August 11.

Fixing this. Mixed my threads up.

Is the consensus here that BK would not take any kind of offer if given one? Even if it meant LWOP instead of the Death Penalty?

ETA: or that Prosecution would not offer a deal, even if it meant some kind of explanation? Like LWOP if you tell us XXXXX. (I've seen those offers and they often work)
