I think different lens means how the crime could have been committed with an accomplice(s). Everything changes if TH had help. She would need less time to complete the deed (whether a hand-off or worse), she could more easily have established an allibi, she could have been in two places at once (not literally..but you get my idea), etc.
I suspect it also changed their perceptions of what actually happened to K and whether he is alive or not. It is hard enough to believe that TH could have convinced DS to assist in the murder of an innocent child. But to have convinced others to help, whether by lying, buying cell phones, etc. is just incredulous. The only way it makes sense that others would be willing to help...and this is a real stretch...is if she convinced them that Kyron would be better off away from Kaine and they helped her hide him. But that is also borderline unbelievable. I just can't understand why her friends thought it was a good idea to help her escape police scrutiny. These are "normal" law-abiding people in their day to day lives, or so they seem. Who in their right mind would not encourage TH to get a good lawyer and cooperate fully with the police? Isn't that always the right thing to do, especially if you think your friend is innocent???
and also the significance of who was parked at the school and where. jmoo
