These are great questions, most of which I don't have an answer to.

However, what I do know:
  • TT says that DNV served DW while she was working (didn't say which job, though - she had 2 at the time of her disappearance and had worked other positions in the restaurant industry prior to). There's always the possibility she could have served others that would have put her at being a witness to a crime or the conspiracy thereof.
  • The custody situation was not untenable, at least not that JDT knew of. Part of DNV's goals list was to be able to spend more time with her daughter and try to regain 50% custody then work her way towards full custody.

@cedgison - from TT’s comment that you stated above, I take it that DNV and TT discussed DW prior to the night she went missing? So, TT was aware that DW and DNV knew each other?

Where would they begin their search? She and her car are missing, so it's most likely that she and her car were taken an unknown distance in any direction away from the area.

If it were a car-jacking with two people in Car 3, I was thinking they may have killed and disposed of her nearby. That assumes the point was to steal the new car, dump the girl in an overgrown dump spot.

If the point was to harm DNV, not to steal the car, then I think you are right that they could have driven off anywhere.

Given the Shell Station was closed and run down, they may not have known there were cameras.

She’s only been missing 2 months. I can’t believe all of her belongings and residence has already disappeared. I can’t think of another case where this has happened so soon.

Her August rent wasn’t paid within whatever the grace period was (5-7 days most of the time, at least here; I don’f Know about AL). That is when the eviction would have started & after 30 days of her apartment being locked by LE, they can do their “put out”. The “put out” just occurred within the last week or two so there had been plenty of time for her to return, catch up her rent and/or retrieve her belongings.

I recall one of the early comments from a detective on the case that I haven't seen since that single interview. He said that the area had been looked at around the Shell station. But unlike other missing cases we haven't seen any organized searches in the case other than what was seen at the Dykes family property related to the arrest of Jason Corey Dykes. From the beginning in this I think we might have simply assumed that LE knew what had happened and didn't see any reason to bring in dog, drones or search parties. The Chief did call this an unusal missing case so perhaps that means no searches required? IDK but this is one strange case. Person disappears but nobody searches?

LE has searched with dogs (both search & rescue and cadaver) and drones. I do not know exactly where they searched but it was closer to the beginning of the case. I do not know what has been searched [by LE] since.

It's odd that TT would know how Danni met DW, yet TT and DW didn't know each other. TT and Danni must be really close if she discussed customers with him?

They were on & off boyfriend/girlfriend for 6 years and have a 4 1/2 year old daughter together. I’d say they were pretty close.

Agree. The DNV case seemed to kick around in the MPD before being taken over by Homicide. Initially based on what the first group of detectives said to LE, the neighborhood around the Shell was searched. The press didn't report anything about large scale organized searches so it was probably just a couple of LE individuals is my guess. At one point the first group of detectives were trying to find more CCTV along both sides of the road upon leaving the Shell station (this was in response to a Press question about more CCTV footage). Once the case went to Homicide there was next to no information released. The statements from the search of the Dykes property were the most we have heard from the detectives from Homicde since they took over the case. The Chief of Police in his press conference seemed to be out of leads and out of ideas but said Detectives were tracking down any leads they had previously received and he asked the public to help (even though no new information was being provided).

Given the delay in filing the missing persons report and then the delay to transfer case to Homicide it seems like LE were sadly already searching a cold case. The Dykes house search brought some renewed energy to the DNV case but we still know next to nothing about what LE has been up to in the past few weeks in the DNV case.

If they just wanted the car, they could have left Danni alive or not at the Shell station. There was no reason to take her anywhere.

I think Danni was the target. I think the idea was to make it look like Danni decided to start a new life somewhere else with her new car, therefore they needed both the car and Danni to completely disappear. The only monkey wrench in the plan is that Danni was meeting DW at The Dublin 20 minutes after leaving the Shell station. When she didn't show up, DW became worried - moreso since he had her phone. What 24 year old can function without a phone?

DW seems to be the one person who sounded the alarm that something happened to Danni. DW tried to return the phone to Danni's mother-in-law the following morning, but he had difficulties doing that. If we remove DW from this, then we have a situation where no one was particularly concerned about her disappearance from July 17 until July 20. Work was worried about the fact that she didn't show up, but that didn't worry anyone else. No one was particularly interested in ensuring that her apartment remained intact on August 1. No one seemed to care about the missing car. No one seemed to care about the fact that she was turning her life around so she could have custody of her daughter or that she had no reason to disappear.

I agree that the people who took Danni and her car probably did not know that they were on CCTV until the footage was released by the media.

Well, I guess the next question is.....Who all had anything to gain by DNV disappearing ?

I've been reading a bit about car jacking and individuals that do this for a living want cars and not people by all accounts. I really wonder if this weren't more about DNV and not the car?

This Lojack report information is a bit dated but still interesting: https: // www .autotrader.com/car-shopping/lojack-names-most-stolen-cars-and-top-cities-car-t-255058

There is a name for the tech savvy car thieves: At the heart of these disturbing trends is what the report calls the "connected vehicle thief," a tech-savvy felon employing digital tactics to defeat security alarms, power door locks and electronic ignitions. DNV car was not in the top 10 most stolen cars in the lojack report for 2015.

Most-Stolen Cars
Although LoJack discovered a recent uptick in thefts of cars over $30,000, the most-stolen list is still peppered with the usual array of compact and midsize vehicles. While higher-ticket rides typically wind up somewhere overseas to be sold after they're stolen, thieves seek out older models of highly popular cars to chop up for parts, which is a lucrative business.

LoJack's list of the most frequently stolen cars includes:

  1. Honda Civic.
  2. Honda Accord.
  3. Toyota Camry.
  4. Toyota Corolla.
  5. Acura Integra.
  6. Nissan Altima.
  7. Nissan Maxima.
The Ford F-150 and F-250 and the Chevrolet Tahoe rounded out the top 10 most-stolen list.

That's a very interesting question. Without knowing more about Danni's life during the last 6 years, it's difficult to know what sort of relationships she had with others.

As far as I can figure out, she didn't even have a bank account (no debit or credit cards), but she did work at restaurants or bars.

The only significant change we know of is her intent to gain custody of her daughter. We know this from the June 17 mind map note that was found in her apartment. She even had plans to take her daughter to school every day, so she was planning the day to day schedule and details of looking after her daughter. She was taking all the rights steps to gain custody, but now it looks like that will never happen.

How often does a carjacker take the car owner too?

Very unusual. Pros want cars and not people. They pride themselves on being quick and silent. Volume is important unless they specialize in high end cars. In certain parts of the world though there is an active kidnapping market so the people are taken and cars typically torched or ditched or transported. This kidnapping aspect seems most prevalent in Mexico, Latin and SA, Africa, and parts of Eastern Europe including Russia.

Car 3 is not DW. Car 3 is not just anybody, but somebody who knew about the GPS. Who knew about the GPS in the car?

I'll take that a step further, "IF" car3 is someone that knew about the GPS, then they must know DV as she had JUST got the car. Otherwise a complete stranger that wanted either DV, the car, or both, stopped long enough to think about a GPS and disarmed it. But someone could have known she had gotten the car, could have known about her financing it, known about the GPS, known she wasn't at home that night but out celebrating, and known to follow her to the gas station. That's "IF" the person in car3 knew DV....I think the number of people that would know all that information would small. But maybe she told lots of people because she was super excited! And maybe a stranger saw the paper tags, figured it was financed, and checked for the GPS to disarm it.

I don't know that I've ever seen a case on here of a car jacking or kidnapping that wasn't quick. The perp would grab the intended person, and quickly gain control over them, then take them, or rape and kill them at that location. Since DV hasn't been found, I think it's ok to say she must have been removed from that area, if something was done to her.

Though come to think of it, Alexis Murphy willingly followed her abductor/murderer from a gas station to his property, where she murdered and never found.

So it IS possible that DV was in control of her vehicle, and followed car3 to wherever it went. Or she was in control and left the gas station and car3 followed her. So the actual crime scene might be someone's house, or on the side of the road somewhere.

Of course also possible there was more than one person in car3 or in the car with DV, and one of them took control of her car and drove off in it. Otherwise I can't see how both vehicles left and DV disappeared.

Which circles my brain back around to wondering if she knew car3 occupant/s and willingly drove off to meet at another location. Right now, I "THINK" that's my theory.

Exactly. Stealing a car is one thing, abducting and potentially murdering someone in order to steal a car is a whole other league.

This was not about stealing a car, in my humble opinion, but about making Danni and her car disappear. The first order of business was to disable the GPS. That must have taken 15 minutes. When that was achieved, the next order of business was to disappear Danni and the car, and to give the impression that she voluntarily left in her shiny new car.

There is absolutely no way that Car 3 is DW. If Car 3 was DW, then DW and Danni left the Shell station together at 11:24 and there's no explanation for Danni to be missing. The only explanation for Danni to be missing is because Car 3 ambushed her at the Shell station, they knew about the GPS, they disabled it, and they took both Danni and the car to some unknown place.

I question the no bank account statement as she worked for a chain restaurant and they would typically direct deposit into an account versus providing a check and certainly not cash. Cashing a check without a bank account is an expensive proposition via a check casher so most that can have a bank account or account at walmart. She also could have had some kind of debit card to hold her salary versus a bank account and simply banked online using her phone or computer. She worked two jobs, had cash coming in, was single female so why would she want to be carrying or holding large amounts of cash?

I wonder if she had come into any money recently and was holding this money on a debit card and somebody knew about it? Maybe the only way to get the debit card was the grab DNV and she and her car were the casulty of this theft?

That makes sense about the bank account. I bet that bank account was nearly empty though after making a down payment on that car she financed.

It makes more sense that she had a debit card and a bank account, but it was posted in thread 1 that she didn't have either. Perhaps I misunderstood. I think it would be very difficult to have any job without a bank account and a debit card.

I don't think she disappeared because she was holding a large amount of money.

I'm more inclined to look at her personal circumstances in terms of what was changing in her personal life and how that may have factored into her disappearance.

Working in the restaurant/bar industry you solely rely on tips as your source of income which is given to you daily via cash. Your paychecks are almost moot as mostly are taxed away. It’s all about the cash.

This is what I have been saying all along. While I agree DWs story sounds fishy and doesn't add up, there may be a logical reason for that. Miscommunication on his part out of fear that he will lose his family and or business. He does not come across as the type that would think ahead to disable a LoJack GPS system. On top of that is the timeline, (although I haven't seen anything official that corroborates his times), how would he leave at 11:24 make it to Dublin's, talk to someone and get the phone, make it to Ollie's talk to them for a bit and then drop his rental car at 1am then go home? Where is the time frame to make DNV and her car disappear. We also know that he relayed much more information to LE than he did with JDT.

That only leaves 2 options:

1. DNV wanted to disappear and had someone disable the LoJAck and purposely left her phone behind. The problem with this is there is zero evidence to suggest she would do something like this.

2. Someone had prior knowledge of the LoJack and had to know that DNV would be at the Shell station. I absolutely do not believe this is a random act against DNV. The key to that is the disabled LoJAck. A random act, car jacking, theft etc would never take the time or have the knowledge that her car had the LoJack installed on it. (Unless they worked for Pearl Motors). I know people like to believe that car jackers and thieves are really smart and would know there was a tracking device on the car but really they're not.

So all in all I think whomever was in Car 3 knew DNV or had prior knowledge of her, her car and the GPS tracker.
