As for the question someone asked about if Australians have matching crockery
I’m trying to word this delicately, but will probably fail.
The only people I know in Australia who have a mish mash of plates are; uni students, young men (early 20s), recently divorced men, and, people who live a chaotic messy lifestyle, like hoarder types or people who generally don’t care about aesthetics, and or people with substance abuse issues. Maybe very old widowed men also. They don’t seem to care as much about these things.
I’ve never met anyone middle aged in a family setting in a nice home who doesn’t have at least 4 matching plates.
Edit; actually I have a friend who is a hippy type ceramic artist. She has so many different plates but they’re all beautiful and hand made, and she’s an exception.
We don’t have a lot of poverty in Australia due to our social welfare network. Nobody here can’t afford a $15 matching dinner set from Kmart.
