He's probably *already* writing love letters to her in prison and asking her to sign over the title deeds of her houses right this minute, after having already stripped them of valuables. JMO MOO
He wouldn't be able to manipulate Erin though, like he did the other poor women...

I think what’s at issue here isn’t whether or not the accused should own a matching set of dishes but rather where are four white or grey dishes that are at least similar enough for witnesses to consider them matching?

And one of those witnesses is the accused’s own son. He may not pay close attention but he described four white plates, not blah or red and black. The kid lives there!

On at least two occasions Erin allegedly had been out of the house, alone, long enough to possibly dispose of items of potential evidence.

Where are those plates? And why lie about having four similar or matched ones?
They are now, not in the house, so others have lied, not her.
She probably, has thrown them out.

She possibly dumped them in a public rubbish bin at a local oval/reserve.

For the record, and for my lifetime reputation, I do not use plastic plates! At all. (And usually refuse the plastic cutlery at sandwich shops.)

... likely having first smashed them to pieces, IMO.

I have no memory, ever, of buying plates as a family or discussions around plates. I think my family gave us some years ago. Yet - and I’ve just checked - we have accrued more than enough for a family of six. They are all pretty much either white or grey, the grey ones are a set, the white ones probably are.

Key Event
Just now
We're back from the break

By Joseph Dunstan

The hearing resumes and Dr Rogers moves to evidence given by Erin Patterson's sister-in-law Tanya Patterson, who got in touch to check on how she was going.

Erin agrees she likely told Tanya she was feeling nauseous and tired and that Tanya arrived to visit her at Monash Medical Centre about 9:30am on the Tuesday after the lunch.

Erin agrees she was well enough to pop her head out of the hospital room to tell Tanya which room she was in.

Dr Rogers puts to Erin that by this stage she knew that her parents-in-law Don and Gail Patterson were in comas.

"I did not know that and I don't think they were," Erin replies.

WRONG ^^^^ Erin, Don was put in a coma the day before, on Monday the 31st:

Don arrived at the Austin Hospital on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 2.30pm by ambulance
from Dandenong. He had displayed acute onset vomiting with hematemesis, that is vomit with blood, and profuse bloody diarrhoea from the previous Saturday evening, before being diagnosed with acute liver failure after transfer from Korumburra Hospital to Dandenong.

By the time he arrived at the Austin, Professor Warrillow said Mr Patterson was critically ill and in multiple organ failure, with extremely high measurements of substances in the blood consistent with massive liver injury, grossly abnormal blood clotting and a range of other abnormalities.

He was in an induced coma with a life support ventilation tube down into his windpipe while receiving medication to assist his comfort.

The next to arrive at the Austin was Gail Patterson. She arrived at 8pm, also on July 31.

“She was also critically ill and in multiple organ failure,” according to Dr Warrillow.

She was intubated and receiving a number of treatments similar to those being received by her husband Don.

BBM... appalling

So by Monday, the 31st, both Don and Gail were very near death.

Erin was just fine. The only evidence of her supposed 'illness' was her own description of being unwell.

The other 4 lunch guests were intubated, suffering from organ failure, and placed in comas.

I eat with my knife in my left hand and my fork in my right hand and so does my son and our cousin. My great, great, grandfather was an American sea captain, so it might be genetic. 🙂 I remember on my European tour, watching the Americans on our trip eating with their knives in their left hand and forks in their right hand and then swapping the cutlery around to cut up their meal and then swapping it back again. That was rather quirky.

That's very clever of you to reply to all of those posts in the one post Detechtive.
I can’t claim credit for it, it just happened when I went to respond to everyone 🤣

I hope you meant to say, that she said (or implied) that they lied. Not that they did.
And, yes, they were almost surely thrown out.

Yes but your username implies you’re a male. My husband didn’t ever buy plates either 🤣

Well, there was quite quite a period of time where we didn't use knives or forks at all. At least in England (not France, but probably many other places.)
So I guess we are both trying to adjust. On both sides of the Atlantic.
No harm intended. I agree it is awkward here. But it would be odd if there weren't interesting differences between us, after all these years!
That said, I love the (to me) cute ways you guys phrase things!

If this was a TV courtroom drama, she would have succumbed to the persistent line of questioning by now. But not Erin. She is so completely and utterly delusional she could lie and deflect like this indefinately.

Prosecution recaps toxicologists comments to Erin in hospital

By Joseph Dunstan

Tanya Patterson previously told the court that during her visit to Erin Patterson, a toxicologist entered and said that Erin was fine and well enough to go home, Dr Rogers recaps.

She also told the court that Erin had flagged low potassium with her and a doctor, who told her that her levels were fine and not as low as might be expected in someone who'd had severe diarrhoea.

"She indicated that they were fine that morning, yes," Erin says of the doctor's comments on her potassium levels.
On Tuesday, Erin was released from the hospital because her potassium levels were fine and her vitals were good. She was A-OK.

The other lunch guests were in multiple organ failure, intubated, and on the verge of death. I hope that's not lost on the jury.

I was replying to the post that said having mismatched plates was an oddity. I don't really think it is, it's just one way to live.

They are now, not in the house, so others have lied, not her.
She probably, has thrown them out.
How have you come to the conclusion that others lied, not her? The sole surviving guest noted the plates to be grey. Allegedly one of the deceased (Gail?) also commented on the plates being grey before she died. Her son noted 15cm white plates when he was cleaning up after the dessert of cake and fruit. My money is on those being used for the dessert, and were likely to be considered side/bread and butter plates, not dinner plates.

Just because there were no grey plates in the home when it was searched, does not mean there weren't grey plates used for the lunch. The lunch the son was not there for, he arrived after dessert had been served. AFAIK, we have not heard how the dinner plates were cleared from the table, where they were placed, and by whom. For all we know, Erin could have been the perfect host and told her guests to stay seated, she'd clear the table, then brought the plates out into the butler's pantry and hid them somewhere odd, to be removed and discarded from the home at a later date.

Have we clarified anything more than "grey", "white" or "15cm"? To me, if the plates were a very pale grey, they may appear white, and a "dirty white" may appear light grey. Has there been any clarification on what type of grey they were?

You missed discussions around plates? You poor child! (Just kidding, you're lucky that you did.)
