GUILTY Australia - 3 dead after eating wild mushrooms, Leongatha, Victoria, Aug 2023 *Arrest* #21

All because of her perceived narcissistic injury by them- they dared side with their own son over her! She was "done with them" and she meant it.

Absolutely. In our group she turned against two people (while pretending to be friends with them) because they started a relationship she wasn’t aware of.
She told her friends it was for other reasons but like everything EP, that was a lie. She stalked she harassed these two behind the scenes for over a year. She was calling people about them constantly and was obsessed. She felt entitled to friendships and people. She wouldn’t give them space. She just continually tried to manipulate and guilt them.

Crazy woman.

Surely she would need to have Judge only trial with all the info out now??

Assuming the appeal is successful. I don't yet know what grounds have been approved, but my guess -- and hope -- is that she will fail in the Appeals Court on any grounds.

IMO judge Beale was very careful and fair, so I'm guessing that she's not claiming judicial error.

Also didn't the prosecution also lodge an appeal against the sentence ??

Agree.

She’s got a great legal team. They are going to inevitably find grounds for appeal, but it doesn’t mean she will succeed. She won’t, IMO.

She really didn’t have a choice not to appeal. Nearly everyone would in this situation, guilty or innocent - you only have a small window to appeal and when you’re looking down a sentence of life with 33 years, I would imagine the majority of people would roll the dice in this small window to appeal and hope to get that changed - somehow - any how. IMO

People in prison still celebrate their birthdays whether we like them or not.

Hopefully EP will celebrate her next 32 birthdays behind bars, where she belongs.

I can’t imagine another trial being warranted. Fingers crossed.

Yep, I’ll appeal because there’s a one in a million chance I’ll get off. Even though the evidence demonstrates I planned this murder and those murdered were lured into my home by false pretences believing they would be safe and under no imminent threat of harm. So I’m a complete coward and ducked up individual who watched while my victims ate a poisoned meal that I had intentionally and meticulously prepared.

Her victims had no more birthdays to celebrate, their loved ones must struggle with those dates and memories

A little slow on the uptake as I’ve only just heard about the appeal, I am very interested to read her submissions.

Not surprised with this course of action from Erin.

Should we expect to hear of a response from the DPP?

Erin Patterson cites ‘unfair and oppressive’ questioning and jury ‘irregularity’ in mushroom murder appeal

Patterson appealing convictions on seven grounds, after being found guilty of killing three people using beef wellingtons laced with death cap mushrooms in regional Australia

Erin Patterson is appealing against her triple murder conviction on seven grounds, including the “irregularity” around sequestering the jury in the same hotel as police and media representatives, and that her cross-examination during the trial was “unfair and oppressive”.

According to documents filed to the Victorian court of appeal and released to the media on Wednesday, Patterson also seeks to appeal on the grounds that cell tower evidence – along with evidence of death cap mushroom sightings near her home -should not have been allowed. She also agued evidence from the so-called Facebook friends, who met Patterson through a true-crime group, should also not have been heard during the trial.

😂

IIRC, at no time did her very capable defence raise any such objection.

Unsurprised to see the hotel situation being raised.
