Australia Australia - Pheobe Bishop, 17, failed to board a scheduled flight from a Queensland Airport. Last seen Airport Drive, Bundaberg, 15 May 2025

Now that's actually a really good point. You can check in early online and you do get emails/sms about it. Not sure about that particular airport - I have never flown from Bundy. But I'd assume it was the same.

A young girl excited for her trip - I can imagine would have jumped at the chance to check in online.

Very strange.
Just had a look to confirm just in case Link Airways was different to the other airlines -

"Online check-in opens 24 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure time and can be completed up until 30 minutes before your scheduled flight departure time."

This isn’t adding up.

Who would ever be asked to be dropped outside an airport with luggage (even if it’s just carry on/ hand luggage?)
Nobody would!
You ask to be dropped at the terminal or the terminal and gate/ or at the area closest to the specific airline you are flying.

Unless you are meeting someone for a nefarious action/ drug meeting or unless the person dropping you off is in a great hurry to get somewhere like a work meeting.

I don’t think Pheobe asked to be dropped off “in the vicinity of” the airport.

Why bother driving someone all the way to the airport if you aren’t dropping them off in the right place? That’s not right.

Based on the fact that police are asking for witnesses who have seen the car in question/ dash cam video/ sightings I suspect that the car in question was not where the driver said it was.

Motive could be something of a sexual nature or drug nature or money dispute or jealousy.
I doubt this was a situation where roommate(s) would have sold her into trafficking?

She was in a dangerous place living in a filthy home with at least one animal abuser.
We all know what they say animal abuse escalates to…..

Video cam footage should show whether she even can be seen riding in the car or if her body may have just been transported in the car that fateful morning.

If I had to guess I bet something nefarious happened the night or two before P’s intended journey. I think the call/ text to boyfriend was staged and I think the drive near the airport was staged. Then I think someone intentionally disengaged her phone.

I’M ALARMED THAT PHEOBE DID NOT CHECK IN FOR HER FLIGHT.
She would have received text messages and/or emails to check in the day before her flight.
I don’t think she was able to check in - I don’t think she was alive the day before her flight.

It would be good to know when someone actually talked to P last before her disappearance.

I expect there will be an arrest or two presently though maybe not in the next few days.

Sadly I’m expecting another Samantha Murphy situation- I don’t think Pheobe will be found. Too many good hiding places in Australia. I hope I’m wrong.

All IMHO
Really good point that she didn't check in online. The way the media and police are reporting it, they are saying she didn't check in & wasn't seen at the airport, which links the two together. Most people these days check in online, especially if excited, which she likely was.

Yes but don't you have to check in at the counter if you have luggage? I know you can get those tags printed now and DIY at the kiosks, but they never work for me and I always have to go to the counter with checked non carry on luggage.

This is probably for old charges

I doubt it very much. Even if it was for old charges, the media would be all over it.

The only thing that currently makes sense is that there's an application for an order for forensics - DNA, etc, and it's under an NPO. Otherwise, the complete media silence on it is odd, given how high profile this case has become, in my opinion.

I thought about these things but then they likely wouldn't have listed her name in the daily court list available to the public. It's all very weird.

Looking at Link Airways, you need to check in 60-90 minutes before the flight if connecting with another domestic flight on the same day, so that means she needed to be there by 9.10 am if taking a Virgin flight from Brisbane to Perth on the same ticket number or by 8.40 am. That puts the purported 8.30 am call to her boyfriend / being on Airport Drive close to that 8.40 am time-frame.

Yeah I don’t think a NPO application would be heard before the actual application (for DNA and such as speculated above).
I think this is new charges but not directly related to the case but perhaps they’ve come across during their investigation. It’s all Police tactics and methodologies, there would be a very good reason Police have chosen to charge now for whatever it is.
I have no doubt there’s phones currently being tapped, surveillance being used and they’re watching certain people scramble and squirm so they can get their last pieces of evidence. I worry this will be a circumstantial case and we mightn’t find PB… so all the evidence they’re collecting now is crucial.

Sorry, what is a super in this context? Someone who lives in your rental?
Superannuation. It is mandatory that part of your salary is held until you retire. Some policies offer insurance for a small deduction of the amount paid into your super account, but I am unsure if a 17 year old with no dependents would tick the box to do that.

Was she still at school?

Could it be that PB
left at the road side after an alleged quarrel in the car and saddled with heavy luggage
with still a long way to the airport gate
stopped another car and asked to be taken there?

But, unfortunately, she was taken elsewhere?
Maybe robbed?

I wonder where she was during the phone call at 8.30. in the morning.
Was it Face time conversation?
What did the bf see/hear during the call?
What was her mood?

JMO

I thought the same, however, Airport Drive is just outside the Airport Terminal. There are paths for walking. There would be no point in flagging another car for a lift as they would be taking her 100m max. It would be easier to walk.

Sorry superannuation as said above.
I think it depends on the super provider.
My brothers partner passed away from an accident and he got a lump sum. This was also in QLD. I think it’s made up of superannuation earned and an insurance policy. Mine has a policy against it

I had this with no dependents so I think it depends on the provider :)

If we go off the media reports, poor Phoebe had a flurry of activity right on 8:30am -
--
"Police said her housemates were the last to see her when they said they dropped her outside Bundaberg Regional Airport at 8.30am."
--
”She didn’t check in for her flight to visit her boyfriend who she spoke to on the phone at 8.30am,”
--
"However, the teen did not board her 8:30am flight and there has been no sign of her, or her luggage, since"

-----

I think the boyfriend's account of speaking to her at 8:30am is true, I imagine he was the one who reported her missing.

We now know that Phoebe's flight wasn't scheduled to depart Bundaberg Airport until 10:10am. So she probably wouldn't have wanted to arrive any later than 9:30am.

It's unclear how far she made it. If her housemates actually claimed that they dropped her at the airport as stated above, they were lying. There's no CCTV of that happening.

There were reports of Phoebe arguing with another occupant of the car (possibly unsubstantiated)
There were reports that she was actually dropped a few streets away from the airport
There were also reports that her phone pinged near the airport.

Who knows which of those reports are true, if any?
The housemate said she was dropped at Airport Drive, which doesn't strike me as suspicious as that is done. Airport Drive does not have any obvious cameras facing the road. Once you enter the Airport Terminal, then yes, there are cameras.

One thing I am curious about is why she was dropped at 8:30am. Is it because she wasn't used to flying and wanted to get there early? Most people would check in online prior to the flight, especially for Qantas and the fact she didn't may be evidence that she doesn't fly often. Or did her housemate drop her on her way to work (if so, then she has an alibi)? Arriving at 8:30am for a 10:10am flight is exceptionally early for the Bundaberg Airport. Arriving at 9:30am would be the norm.

IMO
