"Why do you think the state is not calling BB's ex-wife Melani?" -- What does MBP have to offer the case, factually, about the attempt to kill BB, that she would share? I am with the judge in thinking she portends to offer nothing that's actual evidence re this event, so there's no justification to have her testify.

rsbm

LVD didn't name MBP so the judge didn't ask about her. I do think she could help the prosecution but not help LVD. It does look like MBP is the one who gave BB's new address to LVD.

LVD doesn't really understand or care about relevance. She seems to only want to call witnesses so that she can try to harass and smear the witness or the victim, as she did in the prior trial (like asking about CV's dating life), which doesn't help her case. It actually gives a motive for her to want to kill them.

But going by the witness list, it doesn't look like the state is going to provide much in the way of motive. No insurance company employee even, just LE and some civilian normies (not in the cult). They're apparently just going to show that she and Alex did it with very clear evidence.

There is one civilian witness I'm not sure about though. This is the state's civilian list.

Robert Anthony Abbatomarco
Brandon Boudreaux (victim )
Elizabeth Jane Collins
Timothy Zane Deloach
Lynette Mendoza
Dan Moss

From prior LE documents released, we know that Abbatomarco and Deloach are neighbors who saw the jeep at the house. Collins was BB's landlord. And Mendoza was a neighbor with a ring camera.

I haven't seen anything on Dan Moss though. Anybody know about him?

There were two highly incriminating texts for her in Charles' trial, one before and one after the murder. I wonder if something similar exists in BB's case. How are they going to prove that she ordered Alex to kill BB? Will Chad be mentioned at all?

Thank you for the kind words!

The same applies to the others you mentioned.

In the bigger scheme of things, I agree with you that MBP had a huge vested interest in seeing BB dead -- which would imply that she could have been a co-conspirator with LVD to kill BB for insurance proceeds. But is she going to testify to ANYTHING that shows that? No way, nohow, no chance.

For there to be useful testimony, you need:
1 Someone who saw (or knew of) something happening --ie, they can't offer their personal guesses and speculation (beyond a very limited window),
2 That something has to be relevant to THIS accusation,
3 The prosec or def has to know what that is (ie, they can't just haul them to court in a fishing expedition, hoping to find some previously-undiscovered something on the stand out of the blue),
4 The witness to some degree must be willing to testify, AND
5 The something can't serve to put the witness in legal jeopardy in some way (otherwise, they just plead the 5th, and the end result is a big waste of time).

I just don't think there's anything that's both useful AND available to be derived from any of those side characters in the bigger CD-LVD saga.

Oh, and BTW, the idea that you'd offer MBP immunity to testify seems way backwards. They already have LVD locked up for life x 3, and this is just window dressing. So if you have knowledge that MBP is involved, then you want to try MBP and get her locked up too, rather than give her a free ride where she can never be tried, in a quest to get a conviction on something that will have no practical consequence to LVD.

Again just my 2c. (And I'm certainly open to an explanation of something I'm missing.)
Thank you for explaining how the law works with MBP and the state not calling her.
I need to get over my thinking that LVD got the green light from MBP and another life insurance policy was in the mix.
Looks like there's no text messages from/to MBP showing her possible awareness or confirmation of the plan to kill BB.
I don't expect her to be in the gallery.

"Are you done?" Lori still hasn't figured out that she doesn't know how to represent herself. She insisted that in no case EVER does a jury questionnaire list the defendant's name.

Too bad the judge can't shock her when she gets snippy with him.

Colby very recently watched the Daybell children's TV interview from a few years ago and commented on it on his yt channel. The way he looks into the camera when Emma says in a monotone voice: "My father needs someone to be a voice for him". Colby doesn't take bs from anyone these days. If only the Daybells woke up and embraced reality.

I think Colby has said he hasn't watched any of the trials. Wait till he sees Emma and Garth on the stand.

On her yt community page, Annie Cushing posted an interesting exchange (apparently sourced from FOIA documents) between Lori and MBP that happened on Oct 14, two weeks after the attempt on BB's life. MBP enquires if "he could go" before her move to Idaho. Lori replies that it was possible and that THEY would work on it. MBP can't remember the words to "get him out" but admits that's she's working on it herself. It seems to be about casting spells in the same way they were using them on Charles. I wonder if any of those messages will be intoduced at BB's trial. Perhaps not, because it includes spiritual warfare which is not proof of murder. They did expect BB to die as a result though. If their spells were effective they wouldn't need to murder anyone and Alex's services wouldn't be needed. (IMO)

So, the prosecution in the BB case actually dropped the request to bring in prior bad acts? I don’t understand that at all. I haven’t kept up to date since the trial for Charles. Prosecution needs her prior bad acts for a conviction, imo.
There has been so much hidden from all the jurors in the trials so far.

Emma and Garth…they both lied for their dad and have to live with the fact he planned the murder of their mother and may have killed her himself. How do they sleep at night?

I just want to put this clip here so members don't have to search for it. It is the "Are you done?" clip where the judge schools Lori on why her name has to be on the forms. How are they going to ask potential jurors if they have ever heard about the case if they don't say what case they are asking about. Lori looked like the biggest idiot here.

Hey Websleuths sleuths,
I need help with a bit of research.
I'm trying to find Summer's CrimeCon 2024 interview with Nate Eaton. I thought it was on the CrimeCon website but I can't find it anywhere. If anyone could post a link I would be very grateful.
Also looking for a copy of Stacey Cox Cope's wedding announcement. If you find it you can post it here.
Thank you all.

Tricia

Hi @Tricia
They don’t mention CrimeCon in the video description, but this was June 2, 2024 which I think was the last day of it in Nashville.

"Barry Cox Backstory: How Generational Family Dynamics Shaped Lori Vallow Daybell’s MindsetJoin me as I provide a full backstory on Barry Cox, Lori Vallow Daybell’s father, and discuss the generational family dynamics that contributed to Lori’s mindset and legal ideas in this true crime saga! Lori, the “Doomsday Mom,” was convicted in her Arizona trial for Charles Vallow’s murder, and I’ve been pointing out all along that she wears a mask in public—her family history reveals why. Barry Cox’s anti-government views, including his book on tax evasion and battles with the IRS, shaped Lori’s beliefs, blending with her LDS Church and Mormonism-driven doomsday cult ideology. This video explores how high-demand religious influences, generational trauma, and her alleged narcissism fueled her actions, offering insights into religious extremism and strategies for combatting narcissism.'

Megan gives a lot of insight here to the family dynamics. The info she provides regarding MBP’s parents marriage & divorce is very timely with the next trial coming up.
