I've been meaning to ask about that. I guess there was no warrant for information to Facebook? Wondering if there were any conversations going on there as well as through texts. They all had a page. And it makes sense that AM would be conversing with people that way because he seemed to be the one who used his the most.

We'll have to agree to disagree on how long a vulnerable person should be off the grid before a 'busy' cop decides, on behalf of a police department, there might be a problem. 2 weeks? 2 months? 10 months?

What is TPS policy on accepting a missing persons report and making it official - then and now?

The person who wishes to report the person missing calls in, TPS would go see the person and take a report. Based on the information available at the time, it likely would’ve been classified a missing person, not a missing vulnerable person. If it was an ex-boyfriend calling in, they would likely take the information and visit the family to see if they wanted to make a report or if this might be a case of an adult person simply not wishing to speak to an ex-boyfriend anymore.

Not sure I have enough details about what happened in that process in this case.

I'm still intrigued about the 'black tar knee-gro' text I believe on the 4th. And MS responding shortly after that 'i am on it' or something similar. Along with the text about DM leaving money downstairs to MS Imo don't think they're referring to heroin. Where was the murder in the house, upstairs or downstairs?

According to his FB, he left for Winnipeg on April 23, 2012 so either this was before he left or DM wanted him to correspond with her via text and phone while he was out west to see what she was up to and then pass it on to him.

Or AM was never in Winnipeg. :dunno: LOL

He was in Winnipeg because if IIRC, AM testified DM sent him a computer and in it was weed and steroids?

I totally understand those policies, but that was not the case in this situation. The fact is, the family DID file an official missing persons report, and the police did NOT find her... it wasn’t a case of “the police found her but she didn’t want to be in contact with her family, and she was an adult so there’s nothing they could do”. It’s truly my belief that they didn’t investigate at all. If they did, they would have found very early on that her disappearance was suspicious (zero activity in financial records, phone records, etc). That should have been worth pursuing.

Just in case anyone is curious - from Billandrews timeline - DM asks MS about being ruthless to make money in March 2011. He does something similar to AM in April 2012 (telling him about dangerous and scary work). Searching for partners when he gets murder on his mind.

How did it get in their possession though? Several pieces of information over both trials suggest DM gave it to them, and at one point Smich even had to point out to Millard that he hadn’t bought the iPad from him, it had been given. I mean WHAT does that mean? If it is the spoils of a murder they both planned and committed, why does DM have such authority over this iPad? It’s just hard to understand the dyamic right now.
