If you watch the sisters/daughters (RB and PB) during the Disappeared segment, it really speaks to the dynamics of that family. I kind of love how they state emphatically that Bob didnt drive on the highway and then PPD does a follow up with their discovery that Bob brought Mrs Harrod to meet some old dear friends. Their location was quite a distance and required highway driving. ;) The whole show was like a point counter-point. I think that is really significant.

I am on a journey trying to discover exactly how many newlywed 81-year-old millionaires are missing in the world.

So far, I'm not doing well as I've only found one and that's Bob Harrod of Placentia, Orange County, California.

If anyone finds anyone else, please let me know.

No hope I can help find Bob when I can hardly find my way to the thread anymore. Search function's changed. :(

Do you know how to subscribe to threads? There is a dropdown menu called "Thread Tools" on the right side, just before the first post on every page. You can subscribe the thread through that menu. To see subscriptions, go to the Settings link in the upper right-hand corner of the page. This will show you if there are unread posts on threads you subscribe to. You are probably automatically subscribed to any thread you have replied to, so you probably are already subscribed to a bunch of threads.

As for the search, go to advanced search, type in your keyword to search (Harrod, for example), and change "Search Entire Posts" to "Search Titles Only." Also, where it says Sort Results By: "Relevance" you should change to by "Date" and your search results should be more helpful.

Oh, thank you for that info, ZooSleuth!

I'm being a little quiet here at the moment because there's a bit of a kerfuffle going on at the OC DA's office at the moment, and I'm not sure how it might be affecting any investigations for Bob. I'm just hoping it will sort itself out soon.

Bob Harrod has few very close relatives -just a wife, three daughters, one son-in-law and a single grandson. That might seem to explain the lack of vigils, missing posters and publicity of his behalf. Unless you look at other threads here and see the single family members who have been campaigning for years to find a missing loved one.

There is something seriously wrong with the silence that has fallen around an 81-year-old man who went missing in Orange County over five years ago, in my opinion. It's like people are scared of helping him.

BBM. I think there's a lack of vigils and such coming from certain members of his family because they are seen as suspicious. I have seen this in other cases where close loved ones are not too vocal about their despair because they don't have a good relationship with local LE or with the public. At least some of them did the Disappeared episode though. Was that the last time they spoke about it?

Bob's relatives have been very vocal, but not necessarily about his return. They worked very hard to acquire control of his money and all of their activity and activism has been limited to that. :)

That's unfortunate. I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt but everything I read regarding Bob's case makes them look very suspicious.

I think that Bob's daughter Julie and her husband are both involved with Bob's disappearance (and murder) and further more, I think the other daughters know or suspect that they know happened to him-and don't care, as long as everybody got their "share" of Bob's money. It so often happens when a parent remarries after the death of a spouse, that the greedy children worry more about their inheritance than they do about the happiness of their mother or father. No child is entitled to any portion of their parents' money. It's incredible to me that none of Bob's children really tried hard to find their father-just took the money and stuff, and ran

There's a new thread opened here on author Ann Rule, whose two middle-aged sons have just been charged with fraud in taking her money and, it seems, basically living off her for most of their lives. Luckily for her, a carer (She uses a wheelchair now) and a caring son-in-law reported their suspicions and a police investigation turned up enough evidence to bring charges.

I wish someone had done the same for Bob. His youngest daughter did make reports of elder abuse (financial) before he disappeared. We don't know what those investigations really revealed unless we take daughters' word for it, but we do know Bob was furious at the interference with who he chose to give his money to.

Daughters knowing exactly who he was giving money to - and how much ($15k) - doesn't add up at all with their media statements that they had no idea how much money he had, or what he was doing with it. Even though eldest daughter Paula helped with his accounts each month. Also, that small (considering Bob's wealth) gift and every cent that went to Fontelle, his new bride, has been well publicized in one way or another with the help of Bob's family members, I believe.

Aside from that though, a veil of silence has been drawn over Bob's fortune. Who's controlling it, who's spending it, who benefits most if he's dead - and how much is being used to help find Bob?

In a case where police said 'the details lie in the battle for the money', the details of Bob's money are very important. Perhaps it would help now if daughter Julia handed over every detail of Bob's financial accounts for, say, the past 30 or 40 years to the investigators where she made the elder abuse reports. Perhaps then they could get to the bottom of where any really large amounts had been going, and anyone who might have had financial reasons for wanting Bob Harrod to disappear.

I think people do have suspicions in this case, and police have received tips. i just don't think they are the same suspicions Bob's daughters and son in law have, and I don't think they are tips about his location. I think only one or two people in the whole world know that.

In the case of the bodies of the poor McStay family, found up near Victorville in San Bernardino, I'm sure their killer never dreamed an animal would one day disturb their remains buried in that remote, vast location, and that one day a trail rider on a motorcycle would drive right by that exact spot, and see the bones?

The chances against it happening are astronomical, but it did.

It's April 2015 and Bob Harrod is still not found.

However, this post will help anyone searching for the latest news about him. It's got the date in. :)

I admire you so much for your dedication to this case. When I first joined WS and saw all of your posts and updates on Mr. Harrod I was sure you must be family or close friend. I hope Bob is found. Thank you for all you're doing.

Wish I was a family member - I could do a lot more.

I noticed that the body of missing Orange County woman Erica Alonso has been found in a remote area off the Ortega highway by biologists working for Caltrans...at night. I'm sure whoever put her there didn't dream there'd be a load of biologists tramping through that area in the future.

It is cases like this that make me feel one day Bob Harrod will be found.

Absolutely fed up that Orange County investigators haven't provided even a crumb for media in what seems like forever, in the search for Bob Harrod. There seems to be more interest in Nepal to what happened to the Placentia, 81-year-old missing newlywed, than there is in Orange County, California.

Hi Zwie, Well, I finally noticed your message (so sorry I didn't see it sooner!). I did reply. I would do anything (only if it's legal) for dear Bob and Fontelle. I'm so grateful he has a friend like you! I'm here to help in any way. Let this be the year we find him! For me personally this May 28 marks the 45th anniversary of my father's death, so it would be so fitting to find Bob this year in particular.

Not sure if anyone has been following, but an 11-month-old was put in a dumpster in Omaha this week, then his mom was found murdered and his five-year-old brother is believed to have been thrown in the Elkhorn River. :(

When an arrest came, it turned out to be a family member, and other family members had suspected that person from the start. For various reasons, they hadn't been able to clearly state their suspicions to media though and/or media weren't able to run news about what they were hearing at the time.

It set me thinking - when Bob's case comes to trial, I wouldn't be surprised to discover the same sort of thing has happened here.

Add me to the "not surprised" group if we see something similar. How a person could live/function while living with such knowledge is beyond me.

Please God, sooner rather than later.
