Where do we think Robert Harrod is?

If he is alive and he could be, IMO, he owes his family, his daughters, his new wife and the public a big explanation.

I wonder if LE has questioned his lawyer.

DW.....You posted on the other forum when the daughters were posting. Do you keep in touch with the daughters?

I also noticed DW had somewhat of a communication with the daughters over on that other site. I also would love to know if it is still ongoing...

I know you didn't mean it this way, but upon reading your last statement, for some reason a thought popped into my head. Could there be any reason he would want Bob to disappear? Like maybe he was going to be terminated as Bob's lawyer?

Has this been discussed?

I don't know anything about court records or conservatorship but why would there be a case open in the Orange County Superior Court filed 8-7-09 called HARROD-CONSERVATORSHIP and the case type listed as Probate with the Petitioner listed as Fontelle Harrod? Robert is listed as conservatee...anyone know?

All this legal talk is greek to me, but does this mean she was trying to get a hold of Bob's estate very soon after he disappeared?

Well he disappeared July 27th and she petitioned the court on Aug 7th..Just 11 days later. The last thing I would be thinking if my new hubby was missing would be dealing with the probate courts. I would be out looking and leaving no stone unturned. Does anyone thing the daughters could be hiding him to keep him away from their new step-mommy?

Actually, there is no petitioner named on August 7 but Robert Harrod. One of the daughters also files different papers on the 7th. Then the daughters petition for temporary guardian/conservator on August 10.

Fontelle does not file anything until October 16.

There is suppose to be a hearing tomorrow.

When I was on the Superior Court website earlier I swear it had Fontelle listed on the 7th and it didnt have all the other info on ther. Now, it has all this new info about the sealed confidential documents and Fontelle having the court date..Thats just too weird!

I have always seen it the way it is now.

Fontelle's name has not appeared until recently.

Why is all the focus away from the subject of Robert Harrod, missing person?

Perhaps there is too much new found interest and a great deal of speculation on the latest developing motives but, Robert Harrod is still missing. Greed of many obviously interested parties seems to have become more fasinating discussion than actually solving the mystery of what really happened to this missing person. I guess money talks and that is so pitiful in this case. I hope the Police have been thorough in their investigation process of all theories and true facts. That may be the only way this mystery will ever have a chance to be solved. Newspaper reports and website postings are not necessarily the most factual sources of factual information. There is too much distraction to sift thru before the truth ever surfaces. IMHO

The legal filings were discussed a couple of page back. It was the daughters who didn't waste anything filing. They filed 12 days after he disappeared claiming they needed it for Bob related issues. The judge didn't fall for it and shot them down. Below is from an Oct 8th article.

THE AFTERMATH

Notes written in Bob Harrod's hand found around the house indicate Bob Harrod intended to put his new wife's name on various accounts, Loomis said. Police say that, including properties and other assets, Bob Harrod was a multi-millionaire.
Bob Harrod and his three daughters had an argument over finances the Sunday before he vanished.
His daughter, Roberta, acknowledged the exchange, saying her father lost his temper. She said he had failed to provide copies of their mother's will, which he was obligated to do because of the financial mechanisms set up by the estate.
"It wasn't a heated meeting," she said in a phone interview. "Dad got heated. He's very selfish, very conditional. The day before he went missing in the afternoon, he was going to provide us copies of the will, and we went over to get the copies. He didn't have them."
Fontelle Harrod said several days after Bob Harrod disappeared, his three daughters came to his house where Fontelle was staying and told her she wasn't entitled to any of their father's assets.
According to records from Orange County Probate Court, Brady and Borcher filed a petition for conservatorship to gain control of their father's assets Aug. 7.
Fontelle Harrod is contesting the action and is still living in Bob Harrod's house, with the locks changed.
Brady said they brought the matter to court because they wanted to free up some of the money to offer a reward for information leading to Bob Harrod's whereabouts, as well as money to pay for bills and maintenance at the house.
The judge ruled against them.
Records pertaining to the case in probate are sealed, and the next hearing is Nov. 10.

I don't consider Newspaper reports non factual when they quote LE, the family and court records. The website postings discussed are what the daughters posted. And motive will almost always lead to the answer as to what happened to a missing person and might even lead to finding them. Greed is the biggest motive there is.

I will be very surprised if this turns out to be unrelated to money issues, especially if people are aware that he had quite a bit of it. You really see what people are like when money becomes involved in situations. Think of all the leeches that come out of the woodwork when someone wins the lotto.

ETA: I really feel for Fontelle. Here she was, boxing up her personal life in order to create a new life with Bob. If she's living in his house, is it considered illegal and can she be forced to leave? Talk about having your world turned upside down in a minute. I've been wrong before, but I really don't believe she had anything to do with his disappearance. His kids, however, I do not trust.

I agree. A whole lot of people seemed to want to get their hands on Bob's money. Greed can turn some people into monsters.

I came across the petition and I see now that it was Bob's daughters who filed it, and his new wife objected...if I am understanding right.

With so much money talk in this case, I can't help but suspect everyone involved. The daughters, obviously ticked off. In a way I can't blame them...their Mother's wishes should have been honoured, but with all of the internet postings it appears money is more important than their missing father (I hope i'm wrong about that). New wife who Bob barely knew. Anything odd found in her past? The barber girl...she just appears nasty. And Bob himself. I even wonder if he just got fed up with everyone hounding him for his money and decided to say 'forget you all'.

I hope Bob is ok somewhere out there.

Sniped

That is the way I read it.

From what the daughters posted I got the feeling they want Fontelle out of the house.

Additionally, the daughters spent more time posting about their father's personal matters then they did about the facts surrounding his disappearance.

The key to finding Bob Harrod is figuring out who took him.

Who had the motive, means, and opportunity?

discussing the facts leads to speculation, there is no other way to discern possible motives to harm mr. herrod. if there is some other way to solve crimes without discussing possible motives i would really be interested in hearing what it is, as im sure le all over the world since it would eliminate all the hard work and countless hours of time they spend investigating suspects

Just to add my two cents::twocents:

There are not many 'facts' in this missing person, Robert Harrod's case.

There is speculation. There are posters picking 'sides.'

To me, the idea is we all look at the 'facts',
discuss what did happen to Mr Harrod?
Where could he be?

Motive, means and opportunity?
IMO, motive is the reason someone had to commit the crime.
means; the ability to commit the crime.
opportunity: whether or not someone had the opportunity to commit a crime.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Means,_motive,_and_opportunity
'snipped'

Criminal law, means, motive, and opportunity is a popular cultural summation of the three aspects of a crime needed to convince a jury of guilt in a criminal proceeding. Respectively, they refer to: the ability of the defendant to commit the crime (means), the reason the defendant had to commit the crime (motive), and whether or not the defendant had the opportunity to commit the crime (opportunity). Ironically, motive is not an element of many crimes, but proving motive can often make it easier to convince a jury of the elements that must be proved for a conviction.
Furthermore, a showing of the presence of these three elements is not, in and of itself, sufficient to convict beyond a reasonable doubt; the evidence must prove that an opportunity presented was indeed taken by the accused and for the crime with which he or she is charged. For an example, consider this ruling in the case of a suspect accused of robbery and assault:
... evidence of motive, means, opportunity, and consciousness of guilt are not enough to establish guilt. Compare Commonwealth v. Mandile, 403 Mass. 93, 98 (1988) (evidence of motive, means, unexplained possession of property, and consciousness of guilt not enough to establish robbery). On this record the evidence is insufficient to permit a rational jury to find beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was the victim's assailant... Nothing in the record sufficiently links the defendant to the crime to permit the conclusion beyond a reasonable doubt that he was the perpetrator.[1]http://www.truthinjustice.org/o'laughlin.htm

====================================================

I hope Robert is out there somewhere too.
Maybe he just is too overwhelmed now, what with all the publicity about his new marriage after 60 years and then his disappearance.

When I look at this case,
it helps me to look at the
first days when he was reported missing.

All the other things, daughters posting about dad,
people sure that barber lady did something to Robert Harrod,
Fontelle's desire to stay in CA,
all are blurring the
real point of this forum,
where is Robert Harrod?

In the first few days, LE seemed to think that Robert had taken off, to get away and would be back soon.
Daughters and Fontelle were shocked that he was missing.
Then, LE said that his bank accounts had not been used.
He had no cell, nothing to trace there.
His car was at the house.
He didn't leave in his own car.
He had his wallet and his car keys, things
a man usually has in his pockets.
His glasses were left at home, on the kitchen table.
His checkbook, which is what he used to pay his bills,
was left at home.

There was no search by scent dogs.
Neighborhood was searched.
No trace of Robert.
