I never thought about ARH, his financial shell game, and the sensitivity that might have arisen as a result. TDW, it makes far more sense than you know. ARH is an eggs in one basket baby-he is handsome, genius and more according to his proud mom. Which is nothing unusual as most mom's feel their children are gifted.

OK, well he falls in line behind the furbabies as she has posted time and time again, but no matter.

I would think that there would be a powerful drive to protect him if something might be brewing that would threaten his stability.

And yes there are hundreds of thousands of dollars that ARH cannot remember where he happened to stash them.

I bet Mom's postings really embarrass AH, unless he's an egomaniac. Those kind of statements go down really badly with people who are very skilled in various areas of computer technology. Their first question would probably be, "In which area of computer technology is he a genius?."

I am sure he has been headhunted by all the leading companies in his specialist field, if this is the case, and has some high-profile, executive position in some leading US firm.

Shame he didnt have the skills to set up a facebook page for his missing grandfather though.

Or all of that could translate to middle manager who is an average hacker. Someone had to gather the IP addresses from the FB page our Dreamweaver set up. :(

RE believe's post about ip address hacking
Well, I suppose if you want to do that sort of thing, give yourself a bad name and blight your career prospects forever, it's easy enough to do. I could never do that, myself. I kind of think that if you write publically, you are inviting guests to read and you owe them some sort of basic courtesy. I am not talking about enquiries from police. If LE wanted ANY info I had to help bring Bob home, I'd throw it at them straightaway.

But word really gets around fast in computer genius circles. Gathering people's ip addresses and revealing them online isn't a great career move, I'd say. And how any of that helps bring Bob home, I really don't know.

I'll volunteer if we don't have anyone local who can put a call in.

What we really need to know, imo, is simply whether the work began on Monday the 27th or not. Then we can expand from there.

I just daren't. I had to call LE in the US for a family matter once, and the misunderstandings were......well. They were being really nice, and I was being really nice, but we couldn't get even the barest gist of what we were saying to each other. I think the English accent unnerved them, and the American one totally unnerved me.

I would still do it anyway, but I don't want to risk messing up Bob's case at all.

I think I am also going to try and retrieve some of all the traffic/roadwork info I found yesterday (before Germany pinched my broadband, again!) and put it in the SAR thread. It might be useful.

I had also found a July 2009 publication of local events, and I remember ages ago I was trying to put together a 'timeline' of what was happening at the time Bob disappeared. Just to trigger any potential witnesses' memories. I'll try and do that now.

I keep thinking of that poor person who tried to help Bob by linking hundreds of people to his facebook page, and found themselves banned as a result. It makes me so sad and mad. What a lost opportunity.

Thank you Maze! They were all the documents that I ploughed through yesterday. They are not written for entertainment, obviously, and are a bit tedious to go through. I think I have looked in all the likely places there for the info we need and I'm pretty sure it isn't there.

I'm not trying to put off anyone else looking of course. It's just that I did feel a sense of relief when my internet access vanished and I couldn't search anymore. Although, thinking about it, I didn't search the permits. I just presumed the City wouldn't need permits in the way individual residents do (like JeM for his dishwasher installation and AH for his electrics).

I am still working on my list of what was going on locally when Bob disappeared. So far my best title is: 'A memory-jogger list for what was happening on July 27th, 2009".

It's absolute rubbish. If anyone can think of a better one, please let me know!

Not rubbish, I like the title and idea, zwie'.

I don't know that we are going to find a start date online.
Maybe a local newspaper which would announce something along the lines of "road work to begin......" type of thing. Maybe a smaller local paper which isn't online. If there is a local willing, perhaps it can be found in a local library?

The OC weekly has a lot of that stuff, but I couldn't find anything there. I'm wondering if residents were sent a letter in the mail?

Or the road work being done could be as simple as fixing potholes. If so then there would most likely be no notice given.

Hmmmmmm, I can't think of how to say or present my thoughts today.
My subconscious picks up on things that I may not immediately recognize consciously.
When I laid down to contemplate this case today and to allow my subconscious to burble up into awareness, the daughters and their actions and reactions came to my mind and it occurred to me that what this looks very much like is an ugly divorce.
The daughters are emotionally experiencing this as Dad replacing and betraying their Mom and them with "the other woman".

I think I could provide many examples to support this but I am just asking you to look at things thro this lens and consider it.

I think it helps put pieces of the puzzle together.

I've been to a meeting and my thoughts aren't as fresh anymore but I hope later I can explain how this fits into the whole. Or at least be more clear.

Just trying to regroup after bouncing around-is the consensus that if there was a road crew on Carnation 7/27, they might have seen something? I would be interested in the 28th and 29th as well. Plus the UPS/Fed Ex/USPS driver. Mrs Harrod's belongings were being consistently delivered during that week.

Didnt RB make a post about putting the garbage out on 7/28 or 7/29, but she made sure she clarified the size of the garbage that was put on the curb?

That alone should have been enough to compel some serious questioning. I mean who thinks that way?

Questions about the trash were asked (pickup day, items in the trash and their size, etc.).

RB responded that she confirmed the trash was picked up on Wednesday, 2 days after Bob went missing. She said her sister remembered that the news crews and police were all over the neighborhood that day when she heard the trash truck coming, so one barrel was put out at that time. There were no large items disposed of.

That's it. That's the quote I was looking for. I bet you she would take that one back if she could.

True. The residents may not have been notified in advance if there were going to be no restrictions with street parking or access to driveways. Especially since Carnation is an average residential street with little traffic.

BBM. That brought me back to the point counterpoint between LE and Bob's daughters on the Disappeared episode.

Yes. For myself, I was thinking about not only what they might have seen, but what they might not have seen. Would information from the construction workers, neighbors, delivery persons confirm or contradict what information was given to LE by JeM and JuM?

Thinking back to that point counterpoint between LE and Bob's daughters....
It would be interesting to know what LE may have learned during their interviews with neighors or anyone around that day.

Maybe they didn't see Bob, but it doesn't mean they didn't see something else.

Also, I hope LE collected the trash put out by JuM, if she really put trash out.
