With Mr H on his own, his financial affairs seemed to have become a family affair. His marriage to Fontelle was set to change all that, I think. I'm not saying she was good with accounts or anything - she could be worse at that than me, for all I know - but it would be the emotional balance that would change.
As I feel it had been before when he was married to Georgia, Bob would feel a married couple's financial affairs were their own business. Daughters have said how Bob was always very private about finances, and I think it was only in widowhood he allowed Daughter PB to step in and help, and grandson AH to start moving and shaking with all those financing deals.
Once married to Fontelle, I think he was about to take everything into his own hands again, and maybe go visit his attorney/advisor, make some changes and also put them in charge of stuff he could no longer do. That would have put them in a position to spot anything Bob might have missed. I think he may have told the family that at the Sunday meeting, and that may have been a problem for someone.
