It looked like the current went straight through the water. Poor young man.

Any postings from Rim of Hell about Dear Father's missing anniversary?

Nothing from JuM on her community forum. Her last posts on 7/26 discuss the rails on her deck and the fact that she is maintaining her weight loss.

Good Morning Sleuthers-5 years ago today JuM was about to set in motion a change of direction for this case that would dog her husband for the last 5 years.

Here is what I think-if it hadn't been for the family meeting on 7/26, on this day 5 years ago Bob would have completed his To Do list and would have been eagerly anticipating the return of his bride. The work around the house would have been completed. The bathroom would have been unchanged. There would have been no loan forgiveness.

JMVHO.

The rules here do limit me, but I have to say that for one of you, this may be your last chance to come clean and save yourself from repercussions in the future. I am hoping that you have your own lawyer, one that I hope is not the same lawyer as your sister Ju. I would submit that it is in your interest to talk to your lawyer. It could get, how should one put it?, more stressful down the road.

Using your post as a springboard, Montjoy. Not only are there legal repercussions to fear, but also the fear of becoming a victim oneself. If it was done once there is no guaranty the perp wouldn't do it again to protect him/herself..... Is not coming forward really worth all that?

JuM is going to protect her son and husband.
Roberta's pride will keep her from ever stating she may have made a mistake.....
Paula is the only one who I think has the compassion to do the right thing.

The more I think about the intense protection coming from Bob's family, the more I think both Paula and Roberta would really have no reason for such intense protection of JeM, but they might for AH considering his children.

I apologise if this has already been posted, but I have been doing quite a lot of research about Bob. I haven't had a chance to read all the threads fully.

In this interview, JeM comes across as so...strange. I know it's difficult to say how one would act in such a situation...but it is very odd. Also the quick correction of 'was' to 'is', speaks volumes, IMO.

Again, MOO.

I noticed that too. She's not the only family member who refered to Bob as ill or in the past tense.

It's going to take me a little bit to find it, but JeM made comment Bob might have become ill and that's why he left.

Bob's grandson, AH (son of JeM and JuM) refers to his mortgage going unpaid because his loan was supposed to be forgiven upon his grandfather's death.

Give me a bit and I will find links for the above info. It seems some of the links did not carry over when we last upgraded the forum.

I dislike the constant smirking from JuM. It just feels like she is putting on an act. Big time.

I was hoping there would be some media mention somewhere of Bob being missing five years now, but I haven't found anything.

I did find the new Placentia PD Chief accepting a bucket of ice water on his head though, in aid of fallen officers. He seems like quite a good sport. I wish they could have mentioned Bob's case on the FB though.

Yes, I just tried to get them via links in my signature, but they just lead to broken links now. I'll have to fix them.

This is the article where police say:

'Michaels told police he thought Bob Harrod may have retired for a nap, and said he let himself and the maid in the back door.'

http://www2.ocregister.com/articles/harrod-bob-police-2598739-fontelle-michaels?

There's definitely another one where police mention 'the nap' theory AND that Michaels also mentioned 'might have been taken ill'. I haven't found it yet though.

  • #793
Mmmm. And in this article it looks like Michaels told police the housekeeper told him Bob might be taking a nap?

'She told Michaels the door was locked and nobody was answering, and that Harrod might be taking a nap. Michaels then went into the house to check, and Harrod was not there, Loomis said.'

I've just remembered where he mentioned Bob feeling ill or unwell was, I think. In the disappeared transcript.

Yes, it is in the disappeared transcript.

the other comment from AH about his loan being forgiven upon his grandfathers death is in his deposition.

Found it!

BBM
'Det. Radomski: Jeff left several times. Once was to go to a convenience store. The other two were to home improvement stores to get supplies for what he was doing.

Narrator: Jeff tells police that when he returned from a set of errands, Bob was gone.

Det. Radomski: There was nothing specific mentioned by Jeff about Bob's behavior other than he felt that maybe he had gone to an appointment that Jeff didn't know about or became ill. That was one of the things he said, but nothing that stood out to Jeff as, you know, a destination that Bob had. '

So it looks like son in law said Bob might gone
to a neighbor's
an appointment
became ill
taken a nap

The 'became ill' is really, really, odd.

It is odd.

JeM was already at the house and knew Mr. Harrod was missing. Does JeM make calls from the house to try and find Mr. Harrod before leaving? No, JeM drives all the way home so that he and JuM can alert other family members that Mr. Harrod is missing. Odd!

JeM left a note on the kitchen counter telling Mr. Harrod he'd be back the next day to finish his "home repairs", but he doesn't return to finish his "home repairs" or help deal with Mr. Harrod's disappearance. Odd!

What we Hv here is a failure to communicate, or any detective worth an ounce of salt. There is enough to cionvict, don't you just love the old adage means motive oppt. He had it all and should Hv been arrested by now. So....whoever u r handling this case? Get the lead out of your shoes....and take this to your DA. Period. It's very clear what happened to bob. I cite the DA and poor det skills in this case. I'll take the file tyvm.

5 years and the Masons STILL DON'T give a rip...WHY is that? How come they never got involved...aren't they supposed to watch out for their brothers? Did Mr H not give them enough money or sumpin?

interesting nap being mentioned, considering the bed was 'unmade'

Narrator: But Jeff was not the only person at Bob's house that day. Agnes, Bob's housekeeper of more than 10 years arrived around noon. Normally, she cleans Bob's house on Tuesday, but this week she'd arranged to come on Monday.

Agnes: And he said, "That will be fine, I will be here. Jeff is coming and he's going to take care of a couple of things in the house before Fontelle comes." So, I went to the house, knocked on the door. Nobody answered. I looked in the mailbox because that's where he normally leaves me the key. The key wasn't there, so I sat on the bench in front of the house.

Narrator: The situation made her very uneasy. Nothing like this had ever happened before.

Agnes: Bob was always home when I went over there or if him and Georgia- they would always, always tell me if they would not be home and they put a key in the mailbox. But, it was a very rare occasion that they were not home.

Narrator: After about 15 minutes, Jeff drove up to the house.

Agnes: I told him right away- do you know where Bob is because he's not answering the door and Jeff was just asking me, "Are you supposed to be here today?" I said, "Yeah, Bob knew I was coming today."

Narrator: Agnes was surprised to hear that Bob didn't tell Jeff that she would be coming that day. As Jeff let her in the house, she began to feel that something was very wrong.

Agnes: I was really concerned at that point. I was afraid to go upstairs. I didn't want to find anything, so I asked Jeff if he would go upstairs and see if Bob was there.

Narrator: Agnes waited at the bottom of the stairs while Jeff went up to have a look around.

Agnes: I thought he's just going to look into the room- it takes a minute to go up, look into the room and just see if Bob was there or not. But, he actually ended up spending a couple of minutes there, so I thought maybe he, you know, find something. He found him there or something. So, I yelled up, I said, "Is he there? Is he okay?" and he said, "No, he's not here," and then he came back.

Narrator: Uncertain about what to do next, Agnes began cleaning while Jeff resumed his repairs. As she worked her way around the house, she noticed something disturbing.

Agnes: When I went upstairs I saw that in his bedroom the bed was unmade and never in the 10 years I worked for them that happened before. It was just so out of character for him not to make the bed. I just- that was very strange.

Narrator: Deeply troubled, Agnes finished up and left shortly after Jeff who had also completed his work.

BBM~~~In red.
