My daughter lived on campus at Seton Hall. Her suite mate was also a female and she propositioned my daughter the first week of being room mates. My daughter told her that she had a boyfriend and she handled it well with the girl. From that point on she would turn off the air conditioner and the room would be sweltering. Her mom came on a weekend to visit and as soon as she came in the room she asked my daughter why the air was off.The mom said the girl needed the air on 24/7 for her breathing, my daughter told her she was the one shutting it off. They would go to dinner with 3 other girls from the other dorm room but this one started talking about stabbing people and how she would have no problem doing so. Then she placed a rather large knife in a block of Styrofoam on her desk. My daughter did try to get her room changed but they did not change it. She did not tell us any of this at that time.We went on a Sunday to visit her and bring her diet soda and her snacks. At the time my husband and I smoked, I went out first then hubby followed me.The room mate thought we left but we were just outside smoking. My hubby went back to the dorm before I did, he saw the roommate bending down watching our daughter through the bottom of the door and she had a bottle of my daughters diet soda and was putting some white powdered substance in it. She jumped up when she became aware and ran in the room.
My hubby told my daughter she needed to come out side to help bring more stuff up.As soon as he was outside he told us what he had seen.We went to the security office and we wanted something done about it and I wanted to call the police. They would not call the police ,when I called on my cell phone they said they only come if school security calls them. She came home with us that night and the next day we tried to get them to change her room, they refused. We cleared out her stuff and she then drove 2 hrs back and forth each way 4 times a week. The other suite mates were all afraid of her. We tried to get the money back for meals and her room, she was only there about 3 weeks but they would not refund any part of the 4000.00 that we paid out of pocket. It was worth it to lose money we really could not afford to lose but this girl sent off horrible vibes to all of us. I have no doubt harm would have come to my daughter had she stayed in that room. There was much more we find out after my daughter left her dorm but I have already written too much lol sorry to rant .They really should have some way of testing these students before putting them in rooms together. After my daughters experience it seems that at least 1 a year a student is killed by a room mate.
