( I know, it's the long way round but it is the safer route I don't fly over any section of the USA).... I must have a guardian fairy keeping her eye on me.. !! If I left it to day to pay, it would have cost me nearly $300 more

Asian share markets routed in early trading as Trump says ‘you have to take medicine’

US president tells reporters the levies are ‘medicine to fix something’ as Nikkei tumbles nearly 9% in early trading, worsening huge losses from last week’s announcement
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One late on Sunday, the US president indicated he was not concerned about market losses that have already wiped out nearly $6tn in value from US stocks. “I don’t want anything to go down. But sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something,” he said.

''''''Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 index tumbled nearly 9% in early trading on Monday, as concerns over a tariff-induced global recession continued to rip through markets.

The Nikkei dropped as much as 8.8% to hit 30,792.74 for the first time since October 2023.

South Korea-----
In South Korea, trading on the Kospi index was halted for five minutes at 9.12am as stocks plummeted.

The Taiwan stock exchange said early on Monday it would roll out more policies to stabilise markets if there were “irrational falls”. Australian shares were also sharply lower.'''''''

Someone is going to deal out some medicine to Donald, any day now..

I'd like to give him a taste of his own medicine

''''ASX 200 loses $160bn in 15 minutes at opening as Trump tariff trade war fears intensify

Jonathan Barrett

Jonathan Barrett
More than $160bn has been wiped off the Australian share market this morning as fears of a full-blown trade war grip investors.

The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 sank more than 6% to trade below the 7200 point mark within 15 minutes after the market opened on Monday.

The sell-off follows a sharp fall on Wall Street on Friday, weighed down by China’s retaliatory tariffs to Donald Trump’s new trade regime .

The Australian dollar has also fallen sharply to trade below 60 US cents.'''''''

Can't get accururate figures from the Japanese Nikkei.. maybe in an hour or so... that is, if Tokyo opens it up again, they may shut it down for the day, in a proactive move to stop the steal...
some how I do not think that DJT will be getting a Nobel Prize any time soon

The next figures should be from the Shanghai Stock EX, and then the Hong Kong Stock Ex.. these are some of the biggest stock exchanges in the world. Then the Schenzen, still in China, but down in the Canton area.

Then after that the big Euronext stock EX, then the Deutsche Boerse, (Germany) , then the London FTSE, then the Toronto Stock EX, then New York Stock EX and the Nasdaq,
  1. These Stock exchanges are listed in order of the time zone.. the Euronext will be the one to watch, after the Schenzen...... . god only knows where the London FTSE will go. . .I can't tbink straight about it right now..

Don't blame me. Despite what Otto says, I voted and I did not vote for Trump.

No one in the USA can claim that they had no part in the re-election of Trump. They either voted for him, or were too lazy to vote. Granted, the real problem was that the country restricted the choice to two old men with questionable mental competency. I would expect tariffs on penguins from Biden, but now we see the same thing from Trump. They're both looney and incompetent.

I like the last line - the world is being liberated from the USA. That is certainly how the world is reacting.

"Just six months ago, markets were on about "American exceptionalism", obsessed with the booming "Magnificent 7" companies (Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla). Its economy, stock market and technology leadership were the envy of the world.

Now, the largest US bank, JP Morgan, puts the odds of a US recession at 60 per cent, the Magnificent 7 have dropped 26 per cent, the overall stock market has fallen back to where it was a year ago and stories appear daily about how China is beating the US at its own technology game, including electric vehicles, drones, AI and robots.

Perhaps "Liberation Day" can be seen as the world being liberated from America."

I am one of the more than 75,000,000 that voted for someone OTHER than Trump.

Me too. I voted for the black lady who warned everybody that this was going to happen. And honestly, I don't feel sorry for the Trump supporters who are getting affected by the BS. An example is that Trump supporting National Park ranger who got fired. They voted for this, now they have to lie in the bed they made.

Everyone in the USA can claim that there was insufficient foreign interference in the US election. Why weren't you all looking out for yourselves? And is it really a recession if everything sinks? Maybe we will be back to .50 cups of coffee that our recessed salaries, if we have them at all, cannot afford. Ah yes, the golden age. Inflation truly tamed... but poverty still with us.

According to the Genius, Howard Lutnik, your rosy future is already laid out, and oh boy, it sure sounds wonderful. Apparently , you will be one of the 5 million folks who screw the little screws into Robots... these Robots then make the goodies that sell on the international market for $20 US.... the workers, that's you , are going to be happy with wages lower than the Vietnamese... That's what Howard says!! this means profit, which means huge monetized comeback for the USA !! three cheers for Mr Lutnik..

also, if there were a "robot factory," if you did not need a college education to build and maintain the machinery, you would probably need a 7 yr apprenticeship because.... the trades, they are skilled... IMO googled robot soldering and the machines themselves are not all made in the US and they have a capital cost and they need chips....
