The important thing to remember is that the tariffs are going to hit the US consumer right in the pocketbooks and the US corportation right in their profits, stock prices, and dividends to stockholders.

There is no credible way the consumer can excape from them, nor is there any realistic expectation that the US can create the new manufacturing and jobs to supplant imported items.

This Trump Tariff Disaster is a complete loser for ordinary Americans.

100% correct.

Which makes me wonder what the end game is supposed to be.

My quite vivid imagination even fails me on that.

China is Canada’s opportunity, not Canada’s threat,” he said through the embassy’s interpreter.

Wang — whose office requested the interview with The Canadian Press — said that China and Canada appear to be the only countries taking “concrete and real countermeasures against the unjustified U.S. tariffs” imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Oh lord. How did Canada ever become aligned with China against our nearest friends? I hope it hasn't come to this.

Wasn't it to provide an income tax cut, especially to the wealthy?

In 2017, the highest rate was 39.6% for income over $418,400.00.

In 2025, the highest rate will drop to 37% for income over $626,350.00.

That's a significant tax cut to the wealthy, who use a small percent of their income for purchasing supplies that are affected by tariffs for their daily needs. Lower income people have almost no tax cuts and are hardest hit by tariffs.

Tax cuts, as far as I know, don't require disastrous results for everyday, ordinary Americans.

China seems to be seeing new opportunities and going for them.

I recall this all started as Trump claiming he would fix the massive US national debt.

It was the excuse to get Elon in to create DOGE and dismantle the parts of the Federal bureaucracy that Trump didnt like because they had rules and regulations and spent money on poor people of different skin colors or ethnicities.

Then the tariffs were a huge smokescreen to create a large penalty to consumers that would esssentially tax them without being a written tax code. Remember the External Revenue Service idea? Its not dead.

DOGE has been a mess and has saved little money, nowhere near what chainsaw dude claimed. No one can yet calculate the impacts of tariffs because it changes every odd day and consumer confidence is low and falling farther. Thank Goodness the Federal Reserve has taken a very quiet and passive approach and will not compound the uncertainty created by a reckless administration and a very chaotic and unaccountable leader.

Nothing has been fixed. Businesses can't make proper predictions and strategies for the futue. Individuals are seeing their savings and retirements crash, without relief in sight. There have yet been no changes to safeguard and improve Social Security or Medicare. No one has focused any attempts on single-payer healthcare. No one has addressed drug costs other than to propose large tariffs on imported pharmaceuticals, a change that will clearly be borne by the consumer.

Nothing has been fixed. We are now much farther from fixing the National Debt than we were the day after the election.

Very much so.

The complete failure of Trump to use deliberate and respectful negotiation methods with trading partners, or to use diplomacy and collaboration with countries having common interests has created a massive shift away from global respect for the US, and only freed China and other competitor from prior restraints.

China is in the process of showing the world the US Emperor Has No Clothes, and the world is watching.

"A dozen states sued the Trump administration in the US court of international trade in New York on Wednesday to stop its tariff policy, saying it is unlawful and has brought chaos to the American economy.

The states listed as plaintiffs in the lawsuit were Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, New York and Vermont.

In a release, the Arizona attorney general, Kris Mayes, called Trump’s tariff scheme “insane”.

The Connecticut attorney general, William Tong, said: “Trump’s lawless and chaotic tariffs are a massive tax on Connecticut families and a disaster for Connecticut businesses and jobs.”

Last week, the California governor, Gavin Newsom .... sued the Trump administration in US district court in the northern district of California over the tariff policy, saying his state could lose billions of dollars in revenue as the largest importer in the country."

Is this all this administration is going to be for the next few years?
Petulant behaviour when they don't get their own way or when they've been caught out in lies, illegality, etc and so on.
Switching from China, Illegal immigrants, Canada, Greenland, Zelensky, tariffs - then the cycle starts again, China, immigration, Canada, Greenland and on and on in a never ending groundhog day. Except for bank holidays where we can expect signalgate #3 and 4 and 5. On and on. Driving the taxpayer into the ground, ruining democracy, America financially insecure.
Are they actually going to do anything good for their country and citizens?

It sure looks like it. He's been cycling through these same targets for a couple of months. Whenever he hits a barrier with one of his targets, he swings around to whack another.

Trump bragged that everyone wants what the USA has. Now he has to admit that the USA needs what China has. When Trump can't have what he wants (and China is not going to give it to him) he lashes out at Ukraine and Canada with his bad temper and untrue statements.

It's entertaining to see how simplistic Trump is. He wants something so he attacks to get it. When that doesn't work, he looks around for an easy target to beat up.

Rupert is going to slowly dismantle Donald , a day at a time, Maga's cannot absorb stuff quickly, so he will make sure it's done with words of one syllable, and very slowly pronounced, day by day...

I don't disagree, Troops, but I don't think Rupert can afford to take too long, judging from the last time I saw him.

Wasn't that the day after he said he would stop the Russia- Ukraine war in 24 hours?

Lovely family. Like the Trumps.
Some of the Murdochs are actually decent people. The other son for instance.
Just like some of the Trumps are I suppose, Mary and her brother.

He needs to have a scapegoat on hand at all times to distract his supporters.

He also claims that the war wouldn't have started if he was president. He thinks he can influence Putin. The latter sees a weak leader in Trump.

There's so much anger towards the USA now, I never thought I'd see the day where China is a more stable trade partner then the USA. Even if trump stopped the tariffs I can't see us Canadians wanting to deal with them. Trump hasn't stopped the 51st state B's and that just adds more hatred towards the USA. alot have switched their anger from being angry at trump to hating the USA just my opinion

I don't think people in other countries hate the American people.

It's Trump and what he and his gang are doing that they don't like.
