I think that depends on the election. I received a Conservative Party mail-out yesterday. One of the key points states: "
Accelerate renegotiation of the Canada-US-Mexico agreement." I'm worried that a Conservative government will continue to view the USA as the best trade partner going forward, which means sacrifices. The Liberal government has already put in place pathways to negotiate new international trade deals that reduce the existing trade dependence on the USA.
"Carney said the relationship Canada has had with the United States for the past 40 years has fundamentally changed because of Trump’s tariffs. Trump’s trade war and threats to make Canada the 51st state have infuriated Canadians and led to a surge in Canadian nationalism that has bolstered Liberal Party poll numbers."
U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Canada would 'cease to exist' if it weren’t for the United States, comments that came just days before Canadians are set to vote in an election.
