I think they didn't want the murder to go unnoticed. I think they definitely wanted their names out there and notoriety hence the burning up of vehicles. Dare I say, maybe that's why they chose a young, attractive couple as they knew the media would jump on that and be all over that (which they shallowly and sadly do).

this would imply that they saw CD and LF very clearly somewhere - earlier in the day or earlier in the trip and selected them, not that they just came upon them or the van in the semi-darkness and attacked because they thought the van was empty or isolated

Unless they deleted their profiles right before their suicides.
That’s right, especially since they turned on a cell phone to record their final message.
ETA: but wait, I doubt they’d have internet. Could they?

I think respecting Kam's parents was low on the list of priorities, and I think getting an insurance payout on the vehicle is low on the list of the McLeod family's priorities.
Yes, I'm of the thought it was an eff you to the parents or dad from Kam. Now the question still remains is why? We've sleuthed out Bryer left right and center, but the puzzle in my head is Kam and what motivated him.

Same here. I think I get Bryer and why he was the way he was. I don't get Kam at all.

So if you feel its a 'robbery' what exactly do you think they were trying to rob? They had enough cash, and they had good transporation........
Truthfully, I’ve never believed they were trying to rob LF & CD. But many here do think they were just up to no good and likely tried to rob the couple and it turned deadly. I contemplate this scenario because I somehow cannot fully commit to a planned murderous road trip. But the idea of robbing them never held that much water for me. JMO

It was 6 messages sent over the span of a couple days, still not received days later.

We can be pretty sure that the app didn't receive them. That's what the icon means. The likely explanation is that there was never any internet service. Other explanations are, of course, possible.

could he have blocked his father? I cannot get over the impression that while BS's father was, in some way, maybe even a superficial one, trying to have a relationship with BS, BS had emotionally written him off and would just deflect him like a stereotype bored woman with a suitor:" get me an expensive computer, get me an airsoft gun, get me $100 cologne." So I see BS sending his father on quests to prove his devotion, but BS is not all that invested in the results, IMHO.

RCMP truly doesn't need to release information until they have completed their investigation. Frankly, even though I am terribly curious and longing for closure, I'd rather read a fully investigated and well-researched report than a bunch of unrelated details that may or may not be totally verified.

Mostly I agree with you, yet our RCMP are in a bit of an awkward spot. The parents of two of the victims are not obliged, as are we under our privacy (secrecy) laws, to accept a conclusion that the two youths are guilty because 'we say so'.

In particular, Lucas' father is an Australian cop, I doubt he will accept anything but a full disclosure of the investigation. Then there's the US and Aussie press, neither of whom are bound by Canadian laws. Not least, we BC residents have a tax-payers right to know our roads are safer because the correct criminals are dead.

Lots of legs on this one yet. Its been two weeks since the autopsy, and you say the RCMP are still investigating. Difficulty trying to match the evidence well enough to prove guilt, perhaps?
It is a complicated weave of information, I'll credit them that much.

I feel this way too. But they were so close, inseparable by all accounts... they had to be like-minded, no? Maybe due to his different family life, Kam was more adept at keeping his “other side” under wraps. JMO

If you are blocked you cannot send messages to the person who blocked you. However, there is a setting that allows what you are thinking of. You can set a person to 'Ignore' and they will not know when you receive and read their message.

Also, Bryer could have uninstalled Messenger.

So yes, it's possible he still used his phone on the internet and/or even read AS's messages without AS getting any indication.

No, actually an online media site disagrees because they want a story. They (the suspects) were only found dead this month, the month isn't over yet, and I don't know what part of the RCMP saying they will have a full report "in a few weeks" is hard for us to understand :)

Not quite Optics.
The 'online media' was quoting:
Canadian law enforcement has never been particularly accountable, said Sean Holman, an associate professor of journalism at Mount Royal University in Calgary, and that means the public’s ability to know whether police are conducting themselves and their investigations properly suffers.
You couldn't have read the article.

Apologies Gina, I was responding to Optic's claim that 'The RCMP have always been absolutely straight forward with the public...'

I believe that all information on this case should be released. This is not a private matter, when there is a present danger to the general public.

Yes I agree, and what dawned on me is how disrespectful to get a camper and a truck from parents, and then set it on fire and destroy it. I don't think they can even get insurance paid out on it either now seeing as they committed 'crimes against humanity'
I thought that truck and camper were awesome.... and they turned it into a pile of worthless junk.

That was a seriously nice older model truck, especially if you like Dodges. When I was explaining this case to my brother and I told him they burned the 1992 Dodge 2500, he kind of freaked out on me.

Agreed.

I noted the comments in one of the articles about that man in the composite sketch. Whoever he is, I hope the RCMP have talked to the person who commented, and to him. I doubt we'll know who he is, unless something more comes out of it.

I wasn't going to comment on butterflies, but...there is a rare arctic butterfly. It is not pink, but it lives in Pink Mountain. Pink Mountain is also home to a herd of wild plains bison.

This thread has many rabbit holes.

I don’t blame him. I was admiring that truck, and my mouth literally fell open when I saw it burnt.
