Would Bryer have to stay in the vehicle after erroneously filling the truck''s diesel tank with gas? Just a thought, all MOO.

When was that supposed to have happened?

He could have chosen to stay in the RAV4 simply because he was tired, and Kam is the driver so seems normal for Kam to put gas in.

The Fairview gas station photos are Kam and that is Leonard Dyck's Toyota RAV. Bryer is likely sitting shotgun and didn't get out. The photo of Kam on the left looks dark because the camera (albeit a poor quality camera) is zoomed in on him under the gas pump overhang. He's clearly shaded from the sun except for his right arm. He's wearing that "Cat-hulhu" shirt as well. (He must have a thing for Cthulhu, Cats and Pokemon.) Also note he has the same slight stoop in his posture in the middle photo he has when he's walking through the Co-Op in Meadow Lake. He's also wearing the same shoes. They look like worn out faded black or dark brown military boots. The Toyota RAV looks different because the resolution is obscured. It looks stretched.

Is the striped spare tire cover standard in some Rav4s? Is that an optical illusion? Looks like stripes to me.

I thought, when that photo originally circulated that it wasn't the exact pickup/camper, but that K&B's looked like the one pictured.
Just looking at the photo, it appears it could very well have been taken on KM's parent's property. JMO

It isn't supposed to happen. Just wondering if the reason they torched the truck might have been a simple mistake, the kind someone who doesn't drive a diesel might make if they offered to fill the tank at a gas station.

The vegetation directly around the truck is burnt. Also don't forget the truck was spotted on fire so it safe to assume they were able to get it doused fast enough
Interestingly enough, the police report states it was found burning "on the highway".

In my experience people who drive diesels tend to be pretty finicky/hyper-observant about filling up, if only because they know the consequences of putting in the wrong one.

So, I think if Bryer volunteered to fill up the Dodge at any point, Kam probably would have been watching him like a hawk. "Is that diesel?" "Make sure it's diesel." "Are you sure it's diesel?" "Just move out of the way and let me do it."

Not necessarily because Kam was some sort of great mechanical mind but simply because it would be pretty essential to keeping the vehicle running, so I think he'd turn Bryer down if he thought he was going to spaz out on him on that front.

It is possible there might be photo enhancers in this thread. ;)

I kept the processing minimal; just a contrast brightening shift plus a little depixilation.
I think that is K. It's either him, or that look-alike from the social media post.

Edit to add; the subject who looks like K also appears to be wearing the shirt K was wearing in the Meadow Lake vid.
WOW, thanks @Arizona123. You did a great job! I think the one on the left is Kam.

I assume Kam would have always parked by or in front of the diesel pump when he wanted to fill up.

From the original press release -
“On July 19th 2019 the Dease Lake RCMP responded to a vehicle fire south of the Stikine River Bridge on Highway 37.”

This has been discussed before. Was the truck found on Hwy 37 south of the bridge....or was it found south of the bridge that’s located on Hwy 37. As the wording is sort of ambiguous, it could be either.

Agreed! I just don't think it is logistically very likely for Bryer to have put the wrong fuel in the tank. I also doubt Bryer fueled up a vehicle on the trip. It's easier for the driver to get out. Bryer may have never actually filled one up before, to be honest.

True, unless K had passed out from exhaustion/driving so B took over driving and needed to stop for fuel while K was still asleep. (Pure speculation but possible.)

I’m unfamiliar with diesel vehicles/tanks. I know that you can’t fit a diesel nozzle into a petrol tank these days. Is it the same vice-versa?

I'm not sure on the mechanics of it, actually. I just know some folks with diesels and how they are about fuel/their vehicles.

The male in this picture doesn't really appear to be 6'4"" when standing beside that vehicle and in reference to the open door. JMO

There are reports of a confirmed sighting in Fairview, Ab and this article says the sighting wasn’t reported until one day after the burned RAV4 was found in Gillam. This story was never carried by MSN though, so I’m not sure it’s considered factual.

“Officials have confirmed to MyGrandePrairieNow.com that 18-year-old Bryer Schmegelsky and 19-year-old Kam McLeod were spotted filling up their vehicle sometime on July 20th. The two men are facing charges in the death of Vancouver man Leonard Dyck and are suspects in the deaths of Lucas Fowler and Chynna Deese, found dead in northern B.C.”

Just found a photo of the bridge.

It’s a Toyota RAV4 4 at the gas station, but the camera angle does distort it a little.

I lightened the pic and it does look grey to me.

<modsnip: quoted post was removed>

I don't know if Kam's family gave him that truck or what the deal is, but if it is anything like other teens I know who ended up with a diesel, I'm sure it was drilled in his head the importance of using the correct fuel because it's such a potentially costly and damaging mistake.

diesel doesn't fit gasoline cars, but that wont stop someone that is set on making the liquid that comes out the pump get in the tank...I have learned the hard way what a teen can do if they are set on doing it. here some pumps still have diesel and gasoline on the same pump, just different color handles and different buttons. I would think it would be easier to put the gasoline in a diesel than diesel in gasoline. I think the diesel is too large to fit gasoline.
