This time, Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan wants to take legal action to prevent cruise ships from stopping at British Columbia ports, permanently.

And we'll just tell them that they can't traverse through Canadian waters .... ergo it's the high seas for them.

England and Canada are Commonwealth Nations, so Canadians are completely comfortable with a Canadian citizen who worked in London. Government, law and justice have identical foundations.
Same reason why our military personnel can transfer between UK/AU/CA quite easily and retain our seniority. Shared history and values.

U.S. stock market has entered a deep crisis, witnessing an unprecedented $5.28 trillion wipeout in a mere three weeks.
Key economic indicators are flashing warning signs.
Market sentiment is being crushed by policy unpredictability.
If corporate earnings fail to recover and consumer spending weakens, the chances of a full-blown recession will increase significantly.

Massive market bloodbath

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent shrugged off concerns, saying, “We’re focused on the real economy. I’m not concerned about a little bit of volatility over three weeks.”

The real losers and winners in Trump’s global trade wars

There should be a seven second delay on that phone call. Go off track and ... click. no body needs to hear any more. :)
Good idea. The USA government has a reputation for having a potty mouth when speaking to Canadian government officials.

If the USA government is incapable of speaking without resorting to profanity, they should be disconnected and advised to call back when they're feeling better. Abuse may be how things work in the USA, but it should not be tolerated in other countries.

"A senior government official told CBC News that Trump used profanity more than once while discussing dairy products on Wednesday's call, a longtime trade irritant for the U.S. Trudeau did not use profanity, the official said."

The USA obviously wants something from Canada, so the USA should try harder to use diplomacy. Canada is easy going, war doesn't need to be the first statement.

...

Something that his redneck followers would love to be able to shout at rallies to make him look elitist, non-Canadian, or worse.

...
RSBM,

Oh, they're already doing it.

Canada reconsidering F-35 purchase amid tensions with Washington, says minister

Payment for first 16 aircraft already made

Probably like AU, Canada will have to kiss that pre payment good bye and look upon it as a learning experience , never to be repeated.. The USA has ripped AU off to the merry tune of 500 BILLION dollars for submarines that will never ever be built, not in this century .. not when the USA is paying a tariff on components from elsewhere... its like Boeing planes, now cost 40 billion dollars more than yesterday , because of tariffs... every airline has cancelled its orders.... if it wasn't so sad , you could laugh all day, sad for the follks in Crystal City '

Walk away from the aircraft, take a look at what Malaysia is producing. Very good and honest industrial contractors......

And European Defence Contractor shares continue their meteoric rise in the markets as formerly-US-alligned-allies turn to the more dependable suppliers (and allies).

All these new contracts to be had, outside of the USofA, will trigger much angst in the USofA because that will also mean huge layoffs as their former-customers simply shop elsewhere.

And to be sure, the Defence Industry is going to hurt and it is a huge driver of the US markets ....
How Trump Is Killing the U.S. Defense Industry -It turns out that abandoning allies and tossing out security guarantees is bad for business.

First it was the Fed employees, then the farmers with his tariffs and the booze makers, auto industry, soon the defence industry. If he keeps going at this rate, soon it'll only be him and Elon left with jobs.

The USA just wants to fight.

The USA government started a war with Canada, so BC said they're thinking about putting a toll on traffic using BC highways to get to Alaska. Seems fair. Then the USA seems to say "how dare you fight back, now we're going to get the law changed so cruise ships don't stop in BC!"

Great! Stay out of Canadian waters. Sail on by. No one cares. Everyone did fine before cruise ships brought their diseases to Canadian shores.

OOH. I love that. Seasickness all around and those north Pacific storms are not pleasant. I recall 120 ft waves are not uncommon.

I'll stick a IMO on this as I saw it the other day and cannot seem to locate the link now, but as to the tolls, there was being discussed something about charging them an emissions toll per kilometre just in case they had any ideas of driving up, loaded with fuel for the drive to avoid 'stops' in Canada.

IMO, could do the same here, toll charges with emissions fee by the kilometre for the cruise ships too.

Nah; stick them out on the high seas 2 miles minimum off the coast to stay out of our waters --- doesn't make for a very scenic cruise then. But, that's just me. Elbows up.

Let the cruises unload their 15,000 tourons to their own Alaskan coastal towns to buy overpriced souveniers from China, complete with a US-imposed tariff.

USA indignance when Canada responds to their war is outstanding ... so much chest thumping and foot stomping that anyone would dare stand up to them! A potty-mouth president of a country full of chest thumpers.

Canada wants nothing to do with that place.

It sounds like King Charles is closely following the war in Canada.

"Just days after being sworn into office, Prime Minister Mark Carney will embark on his first trip abroad in the new job. Carney's office says he'll travel to Paris, then to London where he's expected to meet with King Charles only weeks after his predecessor, Justin Trudeau, held his own meeting with the monarch."
