Interesting! And yet he was elected president twice. His supporters have had to overlook a lot of bad character to get there.
SBM. IMO some of his supporters don't believe any negative press about him and still see him as their Messiah who will stick it to the other side.

Some Americans? Why on earth would ANY sane American not want Canadians coming here and spending money?

This American is one of millions that welcome you into our country.
Please don't put me in that basket.
I said some because I know it isn’t all. I have many friends who are disgusted and embarrassed by the way Trump is treating us.

I checked Trader Joe's today. Lots of eggs available, $3.99 a dozen for regular, $4.99 a dozen for organic.

The little one-person frozen baguettes are imported from France.

Love the gif 🤣

Moo
The King and Queen of Denmark have just finished a rather cosy tour of Finland , shoring up support, no doubt, and obviously, succeeding...

The Finns have lived next door to Russia for yonks, every now and then , especially under Putin, Russia/Putin shoots off a snarl at the Finns, and they courteously invite him to try it on, they have plenty of room in their graveyards....always with a little dig at how the Finns sent the Russians packing back to Moscow in times past.. ....

It is very unfortunate timing for Pierre Marcel Poilievre , in ordinary times he might have had a fighting chance at the next Canadian election, but every day, in fact, almost every hour Trump hollers out some other outrageous mad threat/plan/invective/whine/grind , Pierre's value slips down another notch..

It truly is almost a world wide phenomenon.

The opposition in Britain , lazily aping Trumps silliness are now unsellable , unbuyable on any political market,, the opposition in Australia , one of his more ditzier corporals, ( known colloquially as 'The Cockatoo' ) promised that her leader would be 'exactly like Trump' . Consequently, he is as attractive to the voter as herpes now.. DItto, France, and ditto The Netherlands, and almost entirely across Scandinavia...

It has bolstered Spain's ruling party , with their big unit Pedro Sanchez skyrocketing upwards....

Trump has accidentally increased Cyril Ramaphosa's ( South Africa ) political stocks by 100%, probably the Panamanian President , also, José Raúl Mulin, I can't find figures for Panama currently.. Certainly , Mexico's graceful leader, Claudia Sheinbaum looks almost unbeatable.. a lot of this is due to utter revulsion of anything resembling Trumpism in their own political environment...

It is indicative of the IQ level in Trump's cabinet that they keep asking EU countries, ( Denmark, Finland etc. ) for eggs.. There are no spare eggs in the EU, because the trade is regulated. They produce what they can sell. That's what all those EU nations signed up for. That is, in essence, what the EU actually is. A regulated trading agreement.

Are they really this idiotic ?? They need to ask non EU egg producing places....

It's pretty funny that the 78 year old president has a reputation for insults, rudeness, profanity, and bad temper. If the man does not feel shame and does not apologize for how he has spoken to world leaders, then he is not normal.

You have to have a conscience to feel shame

I feel sorry for that little town. What a situation to be in.
We would welcome Point Roberts into Canada if that would help them, but we understand that they are Americans and we want to respect their heritage and alliance. We, as Canadians, will try to help out in any way we can. We're sorry that the USA has created this situation.

There are so many wonderful Americans that I've had the opportunity to meet. I'm pretty sure that they don't support this "trash all of our friends" attitude of the current US admin (who are enabled by the Senate and Congress).

Trump signed the current USA/Mexico/Canada trade agreement back in 2019 and bragged about what a great and fair deal it was for Americans ("best deal ever!"). What has changed?

What a waste of money you-know-who is. All the billions that were spent on his upbringing, education, wives, children, homes, clubs, golf courses, political campaigns, travel, etc, etc - and for what? What has the world gained? Peace? No. Equality? No. Freedom from tyranny? No. Abolition of hunger? No. Freedom from poverty? No. And did he even strive for these things? Of course not. Less is how much he couldn't care.

Yes. Poilievre has been saying "Canada First", just like Trump. He wants to eliminate all carbon tax in Canada, but carbon tax is necessary in order to have a trade relationship with the EU. We need EU trade, therefore we need to keep the carbon tax. Poilievre needs to get with the program, give up the fight he had before the USA started war with Canada and focus on new goals, new vision, new future.

The world changed under Poilievre's feet between the time that he was elected as Conservative Party leader - to oppose Biden/Harris - and today, where most of Canada is concerned about the USA president. Every time Poilievre echoes Trump, more Canadians lean towards Carney.

I do expect a minority government at the next federal election. The question is which party will be the minority and who will they partner with to achieve goals. That would be best for Canada at this time, as it forces parties to work together to find workable solutions.

I was perusing a cruise forum and came across a Topic of Canadians wanting to Avoid American-owned Cruises.

What was interesting was trying to figure out which cruise lines are actually owned by American companies and which are not. Althought it might only be a handful of people posting on the board, it also had New Zealanders and Australians who were commenting about not wanting to support an American-based cruise lines, too.

I'm not sure what this means, but it seems that the USA government is again preventing information sharing. Information is power. The government appears to be systematically reducing and eliminating the opportunity for people to share ideas and information.

"A top think-tank that studies Canada-U.S. relations now finds itself under threat in an executive order signed by the president last Friday. Trump ordered a number of institutions gutted — eliminated to the greatest extent possible, reduced to their minimum legal functions.

That list includes the organization that oversees Voice of America, and, of particular relevance to Canada, the Wilson Center, which has institutes focused on Canada, Mexico, China and Russia.
...

Trump's order ... could mean as little as maintaining its small museum, safeguarding some of Woodrow Wilson's presidential papers, and organizing 20 fellowships per year across the entire organization.
...

"When Congress passed the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Act of 1968, it gave us a special charter and mandate to symbolize and strengthen 'the fruitful relation between the world of learning and the world of public affairs,'" he wrote in a letter to supporters."

You may be thinking "what's he got against Woodrow Wilson", a president who died over a century ago. One of Trump's political heroes is William McKinley. It was Woodrow Wilson's Democratic government that slashed the late 19th/early 20th century Republican "McKinley" tariffs in half in order to lower prices for American consumers. Hence, he hates Wilson.

What a petty, vindictive little man he really is.

Sometimes, Donald Trump has very much a Nicolae Ceausescu of Romania air about him, especially the cult of personality....Nicolae , in his petty spite took to his people with real vengeance, instantly banning abortion and contraception.. women had to have 5 children, he wanted a large workforce, all Romanian....he didn't want any 'foreigners' in.. This large workforce was going to manufacture toasters and vacuum cleaners and pancake makers in sheds in their residences, somehow...

''''Doctors monitored women of childbearing age to ensure that they were not taking steps to curtail their fertility, but maternal mortality rates skyrocketed as women sought unsafe and outlawed means to terminate their pregnancies. In an effort to pay off the large foreign debt that his government had accumulated through its mismanaged industrial ventures in the 1970s, Ceaușescu in 1982 ordered the export of much of the country’s agricultural and industrial production. The resulting extreme shortages of food, fuel, energy, medicines, and other basic necessities drastically lowered living standards and intensified unrest.''''''

Ceaușescu also instituted an extensive personality cult and appointed his wife, Elena, and many members of his extended family to high posts in the government and party. Among his grandiose and impractical schemes was a plan to bulldoze thousands of Romania’s villages and move their residents into so-called agrotechnical centres.

( from the Britannica, Nicolae Ceausescu | Biography, Death, & Facts | Britannica )

The personality cult was a huge part of Ceausescu's regime... Romanians had to adore his ghastly wife, Elena, a tremendous yapper,, as well, or else.. Both of them met a sticky end, if that brings any comfort!!.. I watched a bit of Trump at the Kennedy centre thingo, and the terrific resemblance was horrifying...

That's good to hear. That must be pretty close to regular price, is it not?

My friend just paid $12.00 USD ( $17.00CAD) for a dozen in California. I'm in Ontario and bought a dozen brown eggs last night for $4.00 CAD ($2.79 USD).
