This chit is why alot of people don't trust Smith or PP .

During a March 8 interview with Breitbart, a right-wing U.S. media company, Smith said the Conservative Party of Canada was far ahead of the governing Liberal Party in polls before the trade war. But the threat of "unjust and unfair tariffs" had boosted Liberal support.
What I found interesting is that as soon as the Breitbart interview was released in news, the Alberta Premier released a statement claiming the report is false. Her own words sink her. She states that a pause on USA tariffs benefits Conservatives, and a Conservative government is "in sync" with the Trump government. This is an attempt to use a foreign government to interfere with Canada elections.

The Alberta Premier is currently under RCMP investigation for funneling public health care money to private health care friends that charge much higher prices for the same surgeries, and using political pressure to manipulate Alberta health care.

The Alberta premier cannot be trusted except when she states that Poilievre is in sync with Trump. That is true. The Liberal party needs to find strong, central leaning liberals to run in Alberta - who support new opportunities to export natural resources.

"Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is under fire for an interview she did March 8 with Breitbart in the U.S. over controversial remarks that appear to suggest she asked the Trump administration to lay off their tariff threats until after a Canadian federal election in the hopes of seeing Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives elected.
...

“If we do have Pierre as our prime minister, then I think that there’s a number of things that we could do together,” Smith said. “Pierre believes in development. He believes in low-cost energy. He believes that we need to have low taxes, doesn’t believe in any of the woke stuff that we’ve seen taking over our politics for the last five years.

“So I would think that there’d be, there’s probably still always going to be areas that are skirmishes or disputes about particular industries when it comes to the border, but I would say, on balance, the perspective that Pierre would bring would be very much in sync with, I think…the new direction in America,” she added. “And I think we’d have a really great relationship for the period of time they’re both in (office).”

The only words that come to mind are W T F.
Regarding the VP wife's visit to Greenland.

Hmm. Some of the comments in that article are, interesting. A bit wack, but that is where we are in these sad days

"You're likely right. The goal on the part of the Trump Administration is to contrive a "Kristallnacht" style "incident" in which "the Second Lady's safety was 'put at risk' by 'terrorist elements' of the Greenland government", thereby "forcing America" to "come to her rescue" by occupying Greenland."

Although I couldn't read the entire article, my understanding is that Greenland is still completing their election reshuffle. They do not have a solid government in place at this time. Greenland did not invite politicians from the USA to visit, and they have no interest in entertaining USA politicians.

USA is using this weakness to create problems for Greenland. Usha Vance states that her country is sponsoring the junior dog sled race, and to celebrate "mutual respect" between the USA and Greenland.

Remember a few years ago where Trump announced a state visit to Denmark? The Danish Royal Family were organizing a palace dinner, children were practicing historic cultural dance, the country was preparing for festivities until Trump demanded that he would buy Greenland. When the answer was no, he said he had no interest in visiting Denmark. All festivity plans stopped.

Looks like China's EV's are overtaking Tesla's market dominance.

BYVD, one of the three Chinese EV auto makers, released recent market data showing that it has outstripped Tesla sales in Europe. It also has a gas-powered vehicle division, and the EV and gas vehicle sales worldwide of 4.27 million vehicles are almost matching Ford Motor's. BYD's 2024 sales topped $107 Billion USD and BYD's stock is up 51% over predictions for this year.

Chinese EV's are also selling very very well in Brazil, South Africa, and Australia. India has a limit on the number of foreign-made EV's that can be sold in their country (supporting their own EV sales). BYD India has already reached their sales limit in India.

That 5-minute charger technology is really a huge seller.

It annoys me when smith and PP talk about western provinces BC is a western province and our views differ from theirs alot. Is smith and PP buddy buddy with trump because he wants to restart the keystone pipeline? Between the tariffs and the election coming up leadership needs to find a way to unite Canada not divide us even more. How did Smith think her comments would play out? Look at how Canadians reacted to Gretzky and he was loved by Canadians, this will not end well for her.jmooo

I am wondering if the supposed ‘Vance / Waltz’ entourage or delegation could be detained at entry point to Greenland? If they do not have citizenship in that country can entry be refused? Could their entry be denied or could they be deported?

Unfortunately I do not have knowledge of international law and IANAL. But ask these questions in a serious manner out of concern for recent activity in the US in a similar vein. MOO

Isn't this a bit like Venezuela's President Maduro making a governmental visit to Florida to visit Venezuelan expatriates and enjoy their restaurants and condo views, without the approval of the US government?

Same link - the only "vicious outside world" that threatens Greenland is the USA. Doublespeak seems to be the new official language of the USA.

"The president’s son Donald Trump, Jr. made headlines with a visit to Greenland in January.

“Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our nation. We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside world. Make Greenland Great Again!” Trump Jr. posted on social media at the time."

That is a big problem. When the Alberta premier says "western", she means Saskatchewan and Alberta, but her idea of busting up Canada from the second largest country in the world, to something insignificant, means taking BC along for the ride. She then presumes that Saskatchewan and Alberta will dominate BC and force her values onto everyone West of Manitoba.

Between trying to take control of Albertan's pensions (out of Canada Pension Plan), spending billions on unsafe children's tylenol, and now under RCMP investigation for diverting public health care funds to private clinics owned by her friends, it doesn't look good for her. There have been calls for her to resign, but she won't. She is as thick-skinned as Trump.

As for Gretzky, his alignment with the USA gov't against Canada's sovereignty is not going over well.

I wonder how that diplomacy stuff works.

Would Mrs. Vance have to fly into the major international airport in Nuuk, Greenland? Would Greenland have to officially allow her entrance as a US governmental representative, or would she be admitted as a private citizen?

Would Mrs. Vance be able to fly directly into Pituffik Air Force Base, bypassing the international border?

They will probably land at a USA military base, so the best Greenland can do is prevent them from leaving the base - and that won't be easy since Greenland is still forming government. No one is in charge, just like Canada for the last couple of months.

I sure don't like this sneaking a US Governmental representative into Greenland without their permission, and under the ridiculous guise of a dog sled race. Especially as Greenland is still forming it's government after their election.

This is very disingenuous and needs to be noted as a big black mark against Trump.

What else will he try to sneak into Pituffik Air Force Base?

The problem with Poilievre repealing industrial carbon tax is that the decision severely handicaps Canada from forming trade relationships with other regions that prioritize the environment. EU trade will not be an option, and Poilievre knows this. Canada will remain reliant on the USA and at risk of tariffs for many years to come.

Poilievre has said that his response to tariffs is to increase trade with the USA. He means sending more discounted oil. Harper said Poilievre's plan is a mistake.

Poilievre is born and raised in Calgary. He supports oil over environment, and, as the Alberta Premier told Breitbart, he will work well with Trump - meaning giving the USA whatever natural resources they want regardless of Indigenous Rights including mining access to Ontario Ring of Fire, discounted Alberta oil, potash, potentially military control over Canada's North border, and more.

RSBM,

"Western" taken in much the same context when "Western" speaks of "Eastern Canada".

The Maritime provinces (Atlantic + Newfoudland & Labrador) are not "Eastern Canada"; "Eastern Canada" refers to Ontario & Quebec. Go figure given that we are more East than they. And, we are not the same given the electoral maps. We here on the actual East Coast tend to get shafted by decisions made by the "Eastern provinces (to our west!!??)" that preclude that "Western" oil etc being able to make it's way to us - we care about that too.

The Map results:

Europe is seeking our "Western" oil. So is Atlantic Canada.

We're still waiting 10 years (3 Liberal governments) on. IMO.

Thank you for posting this Betty.
But those of us in other countries that are being attacked by your admin are understandably concerned.
Of course we understand that there are many Americans that disagree with Trump and gang, but they are your official representatives.

I love that you are standing against him. That's what we need to hear.

❤️🇨🇦🇦🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤️

I hope I got the correct flags.

🤮

1) We need a vomit emoji on the like button.
2) It appears to me that Greenland is already well protected by NATO
3) The US is what is making the outside world vicious
4) Leave Greenland alone!
