But it was not a lazy day for him as he has already ran errands in the morning . I just find it a little strange he has 4 hours unaccounted for and he did not even make the bed or do the dishes .

I don't know very many men who will make the bed. Since he's single, who is going to see it to complain?
My husband will keep piling dishes and cups and glasses in the sink all day, and unless I break down and do it, they don't get washed.
We don't have a dishwasher so the dishes are washed by hand.
He doesn't cook, either.

The first part of the article:

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), every year, more than 200,000 children are abducted by family members. An additional 58,000 are taken by nonrelatives with primarily sexual motives. However, only 115 reported abductions represent cases in which strangers abduct and kill children, hold them for ransom, or take them with the intention to keep.1

http://www.fbi.gov/stats-services/p...august-2011/crimes-against-children-spotlight

Thanks for that information. It was surprising to me, actually, how low the percentage of stranger abductions is.

Of course, we should also keep in mind the many who still remain missing whose abductors are not known. I wish there was a way to factor those numbers in also. Like, how many "unsolveds" are there in comparison to"resolveds"?

Thanks again. Good food for thought.

Yes, where I live CR means county road. They are sometimes referred to as a highway , but they are small, generally one lane each way. They are also referred to as an FM , FARM to MARKET road... CR/ FM

Where I live a county road and a farm-to-market road are different. The county maintains the CR's and the state highway dept. maintains the FM roads.

Good morning or afternoon or evening to all!

When I follow a case closely here, I invariably dream about the missing person or child. Last night, I dreamed about Dylan. He was living in an mine shaft, but it looked like the inside of a house. He was just sitting there watching tv. I could see him, but he couldn't see or hear me. It was an upsetting dream because he was all alone, and I couldn't do anything to help him. :frown:

I'm not claiming any psychic abilities AT ALL, but this dream has me wondering about possible abandoned mines in the area. Could he have left on his own and fallen down a mine shaft? Just thought I'd throw this out there.

Oh lol, well I have no idea who maintains what. I'm sure that's the same here. I'm in TX also. I just meant as far as the size of the road. Smaller than a highway , but larger than a residential or something.

Long time lurker, first time poster. There's just something about Dylan that grabbed me and won't let me go. high hopes for the search yesterday but since it came up empty, I am forced to think beyond MR (who has always been my focus).

Checking registered SO is one thing but the world is chock full o'crazies. What is the percentage of stranger abduction/murder vs familiar adult? Stats for molesters skew higher toward known and trusted adults vs random strangers (coach/friend's parents, etc) but I expect when someone has disappeared for three weeks, the rate of stranger abduction goes way up. Any stats to support this?

Does anyone know if LE has looked at adults known to Dylan in the area? Besides his father?

When LE starts suggesting that maybe Dylan is out of the area, how do we keep the search going? What national channels are there to help get and keep the word out?

Okay- back to lurking and pondering the myriad of places MR could have driven to between 8 PM Sunday and 4 PM Monday, which is still my main train of thought.

In addition to Jan's link, if you're a stats junkie or merely curious, you might like reading the Bureau of Justice Statistics (I think it's www.bjs.gov, on my phone right now so can't add link). That bureau collects and organizes the FBI's UCR data and other sources like private research funded by the NIJ ( National Institute of Justice). I could get lost for days sometimes reading that data.

NOTE: THIS IS FROM A DREAM ONLY...
Yesterday, I took a nap, but I was startled out of my SLEEP and sat upright drenched in sweat and trying to figure out where I was because I heard Dylan yelling - "SPRINGFIELD". He yelled it with fear, he said it twice, and then I heard other unknown people frantically repeating: "It's caught on audio at Walmart - he said he's in SPRINGFIELD". That's when I woke up drenched in sweat. I had too many blankets on, but it's amazing what you can DREAM about when it bothers you about these missing kids. I don't believe in psychics myself and don't normally dream dreams that I remember. This one I did, because it shocked me awake. Just thought I'd share...

G'Day to you as well. I sometimes dream when following a case too. They are disturbing and kinda stick with ya for a few days. The other night when there was soooo much discussion about sex and Dad's incident on the lawn it was just before I fell asleep. I wont tell you my dream and I'm happily married :floorlaugh: Anyway i hope i provided a chuckle because i know those dreams are upsetting.

Wow, those are pretty staggering stats.Thank you so much for sharing.
So the idea of an RSO or an SO are very unlikely in these kind of cases . :(

You know, after re-reading those stats, it occurred to me that those stats are only for cases that have been solved. We have no clue who perpetrated thousands of cold cases. It's entirely possible that RSO are responsible for a large number of unsolved abductions, which makes sense if you figure an RSO is a more experienced perp than someone who is merely an acquaintance of the child (ie, more likely a repeat offender).

It's so unsettling, isn't it? Sometimes I wonder why I spend so much time here because it really does take a toll. But bottom line is, I care!

Dylan where are you?

Exactly... because there are thousands of cold cases, we don't really have statistics for those cases, until they are solved and factored in if we know who done it, etc.

The BJS website is bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov. Never let it be said that the government wastes an acronym. :-)

I just pray this doesn't become another cold case. It just cant :please:

I don't remember what dreams I had last night, but I did lay awake from about 4 to 5 am unable to get this case off my mind. I told myself I'd do something different today. That I'm getting too obsessed.

Of course, as soon as I woke up again at 7:30, here I am. Desperately hoping for news that you've been found.

Where are you, Dylan?

Has it been made known what MR says he did during the 4-5 hours he was home Monday waiting to hear back from Dylan?

Did he watch tv, was he on the computer, did he do laundry, wash dishes, cut firewood, take a nap, etc? The only thing I recall is that he texted Dylan. Was it more than once? And that he did not move the rumpled sheet on the sofa or clothes Dylan left.

I haven't read anything which states what MR said he did, other than he tried texting Dylan and then went to his friends houses in Vallecito and then Bayfield and he wasn't there.

From the article:
Mark said he tried texting Dylan all afternoon in an area with spotty cellphone service.
When he didn't hear anything back by late afternoon, he went to Dylan's friend's house in Vallecito. That friend hadn't seen him.
Mark became alarmed and drove the 20 miles to Bayfield. Dylan's friends there hadn't seen him either. Mark called Elaine Redwine and went to the Bayfield Marshal's Office.

Maybe MR wanted to leave everything until LE was through with their searches.

Except, according to dads own story, he wasn't concerned for hours after he had arrived back home. So he had no reason to not tidy up during thos hours. He wasn't expecting LE.
Personally, I would not have let dirty dishes set out. Also MR would have gotten himself to eat/drink during those hours which he more than likely cleaned up too. What's one more dish?

Stranger danger was such a public hysteria for awhile that everyone forgot to pay attention to the people our kids interact with everyday. Babysitters, family and friends, ministers, scout leaders, athletic coaches, etc. I'm not painting these groups with a wide brush. IMO, the majority are just fine around our kids.
